All good points. But onething is missing: People in Kansas are overwhelmingly White, blue collar, working class. The Democrat party under FDR and Truman promoted the interests, culture of working class and rural White Americans. Since the late 1960s, the Democrat party leadership HATES, DESPISES White working class Americans. The Democrat party elite is: Harvard and Yale Hollywood Wall Street Jews Blacks Homosexuals and now supports mass Latino immigration to replace White union workers.
The unions have caused the loss of as many jobs in the USA as have greedy CEO's. Union demands are just as greedy and as a result many jobs go overseas . In Japan there are no Unions so to speak yet they make "Reasonable wages"
@MarkFFHH "Union demands are just as greedy and as a result many jobs go overseas."
That's a lie. Since the 1980s, unions in auto and steel have made one consession after another and it didn't make a bit of difference. So the facts make you a liar. Even though unions gave up one thing after another, jobs still went overseas.
It isn't an economic problem, It's a capitalism problem. The only way out of this present economic hell is a revolution. Capitalism needs to be overthrown. And soon.
@bapyou President Clinton opened up free trade with China along with NAFTA and CAFTA. These agreements have killed our economy and its not going to get any better. We need to slap hefty Tariffs on all incoming goods and give incentives to American Companies that keep jobs here in the USA. As long as there are poverty stricken people willing to work for pennies we will have this problem of jobs going over seas....we just can't compete with that.
@bapyou BTW...I know people in High places in unions...so I know...unions had there place at one time when American workers were taken advantage of...but now days they ask for too much work the work they do..I'm talking about whole package....wages, benefits, and retirement....its too top heavy. Its just more cost efficient to send the jobs over seas. I'm not saying there aren't any greedy CEO's trying to make more money for their investors...but thats Capitialism.
Everything that you've written in this comment is exactly what the CEOs want working people to think and say. More for them, less for the workers. As long as the wage system exists, there will be a need for unions.
"If Union workers are unhappy with the their wages/Benfits etc....then start your own company"
This has been done: in 2007 striking workers took over Chicago's Republic Windows & Doors. Doing fine since w/o any bosses.
@bapyou If Union workers are unhappy with the their wages/Benfits etc....then start your own company...then you'll see how hard it is to make a business a financial success.
@bapyou Capitalism needs to overthrown? are you from North Korea or Cuba?? LOL...Are you serious? Even the Chi-Coms realize the benefits of Capitalism. If Communism is so great then move to Cuba. I thought all you Dope heads died out already. Capitalism has given you the quality of life you have. Marxist/Communist/Socialism has never worked and never will. Many socialist nations can't even feed their own people. But hey..if Obama keeps it up you might just get your wish comrade.
Totally agree. I only see it getting worse. Big Bosses seem to believe they are doing us a favor by paying us nothing and feeding us this "free economy" or dark ages balony. I mentioned i support unions at work and everyone looked at me in fear. I mentioned that there is a huge problem with retirement in this country and they laughed and said "well we have to keep our finances in order". It wont matter how much you have saved if you need a gun to walk down the street. Or disease is rampant.

@MarkFFHH " President Clinton opened up free trade with China along with NAFTA and CAFTA."
Yes he did. That's why many people refer to Clinton as one of the greatest Republican Presidents of the end of the 20th century.
"As long as there are poverty stricken people willing to work for pennies we will have this problem of jobs going over seas"
Tell that to the capitalists. It is their function to earn profit for their shareholders. They have no allegiance to any nation or polity. None.

You know nothing about my "quality of life." If you did, you wouldn't make such a presumptive statement.
"Socialism has never worked and never will."
That's a lie.
#1. Most European countries have socialist elements to their economies and governments & have higher standards of living than the US.
#2. The CIA & US military have systematically undermined many socialist societies such as Cuba, Nicaragua, Chile, etc.
