Religion cannot be blamed here. I myself am not religious, but I know that there are religious people that are very kind and totally reasonable. It's the extremists and self-elitist assholes that are to blame. And America caters to them, because they are the majority, and they have the money. This is the church that cheered at the funerals of gay soldiers, and supports the bullying of gay children. Religion should be about love, and not hate.
