I didn't know there were a couple of versions. Somehow, this on reminds me of my younger days, so it may be a first or original. I didn't even notice the changes in another version I've been listening to 'til now. I love this man's voice and spirit. Simply beautiful, I agree!

i love this song. i can definitely relate. the meaning i get from this song is that even though his relationship is at a stalemate and has been for years, there is something there that he is still holding on to and refuses to let go.even though his heart is telling him something different. when the tears run dry and the grip finally loosens, revelation will set in. powerful i love it.

@mannymmv Abandoned by mother (Latin - mater) at age 3. Raised, possibly abused by father (Latin - pater). Personal development stunted by fear/self-doubt. Holding back the years, in my opinion is a little more tricky. My interpretation is that time is passing but he's not moving with it. And finally I'll keep holding on, suggests to me that he isn't letting go of his past.
