One of the reasons I liked this show is the toy lne was one of the last releases of classic company Schaper, makers of classics like Cootie and Don't Break the Ice. They were good quality too.

Bob Forward, son of the Mystery writer of the same name (who wrote The Owl, an AWESOME book) wrote a lot of the episodes. 

And don't miss the wpisodes where the ghosts were the Groovie Goolies characters, thinly disguised and slightly palette-swapped.

Very ealy in my childhood I remembered seeing a cartoon called Ghostbusters. Then along came a new cartoon called the Real Ghostbusters, and I started watching that. By the time I learned that the Real Ghostbusters was based on a movie, I had all but forgotten about this show that was on when I was two or three and nobody had talked about since. Funny what you can remember from your early years when someone points you back to it.

I had a t-shirt with the characters on here and I couldn't understand why they didn't look like the ones from The Real Ghostbusters. Years later, I would read about the whole controversy and what not. I do not remember watching many episodes of this particular series, but I recall that the logo on front of the car used to make comments, kind of like in Knight Rider.

Let's not define 'good cartoons' as being EXACTLY how 80's toons were because they had no plots or conflicts, and were generic. Villains with the exception of Megatron had no definite goal, and he's from a highly anime-influenced cartoon. Not that old cartoons are bad in any way but they should have evolved similarly to how anime has, ie more variety in themes, genre and demographics.

The other version of Ghostbusters based on the movie is a rip off in spite of the fact that they cleverly named the show "The Real Ghostbusters". Funny that you call the other Ghostbusters cartoon the "real" Ghostbusters and not The Real Ghostbusters. The Real Ghostbusters was just the title, but that version of Ghostbusters was actually a rip off from the REAL real Ghostbusters. Filmation's version of Ghostbuster even aired 5 days before the rip off version. Filmation created Ghostbusters as a live action kids show before the movie and they sued Columbia because of the movie and won. THIS Ghostbusters is the real one.

If you have an Ion Tv station in your town, then you also get qubo on the 2nd subchannel (i.e. here in Cleveland Ion is ch. 23, so qubo is 23.2).

Anyway, qubo airs "Ghostbusters" from 3-4 am during their "Night Owl" block every night.

I love both series, but you have to admit one thing.

THESE Ghostbusters had an easier time busting ghosts.

With the "Real" Ghostbusters, you had to hold them in place with the particle stream, get the trap under them, and suck them in.

But with THESE guys, all it took was one shot of the De-materializer, and they were gone. At least until the next episode, anyway.

P.S. It sucks that they never made a toy of the De-materializer. I would SO have bought one.

The original TV show which this was based on was in the 1970's, this cartoon which is a sequel to that series The Ghost Busters came out after the 1985 Ghostbusters movie. Columbia bought the rights to the name from Filmation. After GB because a box office hit, Filmation didn't get the rights to do the cartoon, DIC did so they created their own since they still have the cartoon rights. Hence this shitty show to ride on GB's popularity. They aren't the real ghostbusters.

1) Columbia produced the movie. They didn't create the movie. Dan Akroyd and Harold Ramis created Ghostbusters the movies.
