Absolutely wonderful, sensitive and pretty spectacular... crazy question time: Do you have any advice for singing this aria? What do you feel is most important technique/musicality wise in performing Tanzlied?....
@chamomustard Thank you so much for your comment!! The most important technical thing about this aria is the dynamic range. Out of all of the high notes in the piece, only one of them is full-voice. So working on a good head-voice mix is vital to the success of the aria. Several singers learn the piece too early in their development and therefore cannot actually do everything that is on the page.
@chamomustard The musical trap with this piece (and I am guilty of it as well) is that every other measure has a rall. or rit. or ten. marking. So it is vital that you return to a fairly brisk 'a tempo' each time. Otherwise the piece gets slower and slower and no longer dances. Good luck!!
