Obviously, it worked fine on Charmander when he was first captured, as he was a small and weak pokemon. Charmeleon and Charizard, however, aren't so small and weak and, therefore, aren't as prone to the effects of whatever substance is administered by the pokeball.

Just a counter to the "letting fainted wild pokemon to die" thing.

If you notice, in the pokemon games (other than GSC and its remakes), your pokemon can heal up buy just taking a rest at your house. Thus, it implies that if a Pokemon just rests/sleeps, it will be fine after that. So yeah, fainted wild pokemon can maybe just take a nap and be fine the next day.

The pokemon Center healing machine thingy? Probably just speeds up the healing process to a matter of seconds instead of hours.

What I've noticed in the pokemon episodes, Ash first befriended most the pokemon he wanted to catch. For example, the Chikorita Ash obtained in episode 126 was stubborn at first to be captured (naturally) but after some mishaps and saving it from the freezing cold, Chikorita had a change of heart and decided to join Ash because he was kind to it. That's sort of the pattern the series had going. I fully agree with most of what you said though PBG, but I'll still enjoy playing a pokemon game. ^_^

Well according to Bulbapedia, pokemon are reluctant to be caught because they want to show the trainers how strong they really are.
