The Prelude has looked like it needed to be front engined and rwd since 92-93. The H22 would have been very nice for that (if it rotated in the other direction).
its cool indeed but i know of a 94 prelude with the engine in the front stil and its RWD. the dude took the tranny off a honda crv AWD and its looks sick!
just out of curiosity but how the fek does the intercooler work when it's located behind the car. how would air actually get "cooled" with that kind of placement? sh1t makes no sense to me, could someone elaborate please.
The car is running on a Hondata ecu so the cooling temp and air temp is monitor correctly and the reading is as good as any of my other cars that runs front mount intercooler
this is really something else man, my brother loves preludes, he has a 92' lude with a 5th gen motor swap done to it amongst other things, but this is just on a whole new level.
It's not a lot more power, it actually has less power, there's a blue top H23A that came from an accord AWD station wagon that's vtec. It's just like a USDM H22 but more torque.
H22A (JDM) 217hp 163 ft·lbf
H22A4 (USDM) 197hp 156 ft·lbf
H23A (JDM) 197hp 163 ft·lbf
And the stroke isn't longer in an H23, it has a bigger bore.
@madhamsterpr i have a 95 prelude with an H22a and factory pushes 197hp, the 5th gen preludes (H23a) pushed 217 hp to compensate for the heavier car...not arguing, correct me if im wrong please
5th gens didnt come with H23's, only H22's. The 4th gen preludes (92-96) F22's S model, H23's Si models, and H22's VTEC models. The older H22's bring 187hp (A1/2), and the A4 brings 197hp which are OBD2. The 5th gens just have a stronger H22.

This guy I admire, while the wanna be racers go out and buy mustangs this guy finds an unwanted stone and polishes it to perfection

@itubrrr- Great question. He use a NOS system to cool the intercooler. The large NOS bottle (painted red) sits up front in the old engine bay area.
TheNewPajNtaub 1 year ago
@itubrrr
Just because the intercooler sits in the back it does not mean that there is no air back there
The air comes from underneath and goes thru the intercooler just like how it works in the front
Because the car was design for street and drag racing a liquid to air intercooler in being used for additional cooling at the track for multiple runs

@itubrrr probably has side vent drafts that sucks up air into the back of the car ... just like a ferrari or an nsx

yes, the radiator(black) is up front, but what you see is not it..that is the inter-cooler. =)
TheNewPajNtaub 2 years ago
does it have the radiator in the front?

agree h22s are better
lilrichie88 2 years ago
H22 of course! I'll give you 3 reasons:
1. cheap
2. readily available engine and parts
3. more power
TheNewPajNtaub 2 years ago
if you could pick a h23 or h22, what one is better to build up?
darphinparis 2 years ago
same thing, only dif is that the h22 is vtec and 0.1 less, the block is the same.
madhamsterpr 2 years ago
the stroke is longer ,kinda like a gsr and and ls vtec....h23 is alot more power with a vtec head fyi =) have a nice day.

your a murray you must be in a different country cause the non vtec with h22 head make 50 more to the wheel then your h23 accord wagon euro fyi

The stroke is longer.
H22=90mm stroke
H23=95mm stroke
Same bore. Both is 87mm :)
