I feel thay should of made a big thing of say Staveley

I believe the original actor Bert Palmer who played Staveley was too ill to do Series 4 made in 1979. He died in the following year 1980. Otherwise he would not have been replaced.

Most people agree that Leslie Sarony did not quite carry off the character of Staveley but its often the case that someone is a hard act to follow.

Leslie Sarony takes over as Uncle Stavely. I didn't think that the changeover was successful at the time, and 30 years on, my feelings are much the same.
