  • Look up "HV40" and sort the videos by date, and boom there's your footage being used for advertising.

  • Just so you know, there's a guy using your footage to sell HV40 cameras. His profile name is "keekimaru". Thought you should know, friend.

  • @mark84j Hey thanks for the heads up :)

  • really nice shots! i use the same camera for my videos

  • Outstanding video man! What gear did you use to shoot this vid? Jib? Dolly?

  • @RAINONDABEAT Hey and thanks, nah didn't use jib or dolly, just a good old tripod, the tripod I have is a Manfrotto 190xb. Hope this is helpful :)

  • how did you made this transitions?

  • @matek2107 Hey matek, not sure what you are asking, can you please do a time reference to the specific part of the video / to the transition that you are talking about? I can probably give you an answer then. :)

  • @Jackaussie11223 please tell me this camera is under $900?????

  • @jaroncreed It was a little bit more expensive when I got it, but that was a while ago...the price will also depend on where you buy it from....I would say that you could easily get it for under $900.

  • how is called this transition upwards-backwards, thx

  • sweeeet. one question. is it an auto-focus feature, or a manual focus?

  • @guitarmasta96 Hey, I was using the manual focus setting when I did this video, unfortunately the stock focus wheel on the camera is in fact a crappy little thumble thing on the side of it and it is really awkward to use but I spose with practice it would be alright....but if you prefer the feel of a focus ring thankfully there is this handy device that effectively gives the camera a proper focus ring :)

Google this: irv design manual focus ring < I definitely recommend it!

  • Really Great! but the transition "upwards-backwards" is annoying. :/

  • hey man great vid. what kind of firewire should i use? i have a imac2011 it would be great if u could help me out

  • @ivankillz36 Thanks man, A 9 pin firewire800 is the firewire I use....I remember something about the Mac needing/ or preferring firewire800 over firewire400 due to better speeds when capturing videos etc....don't hold me to this though :P haha...anyway I hope this helps.

  • @Jackaussie11223 just purchased the 9 pin one lol thanks for the big help man :) keep making vids theyre really inspiring lol

  • did you use any type of dof adapter very nice btw

  • @TyVlog Thanks, nope no dof adapter.

  • Song at 3:00?

  • @deltanalliance the name of that song is Feel Good, it is one of the royalty free songs that can be found in the program Soundtrack Pro, this program comes with the Final Cut Pro suite of programs.

  • hey great shots bud! what was the music at the beggining?

  • @kellymariekerr Thanks, I think the song is called Doudoks Around, it is one of the royalty free songs from the program: Soundtrack Pro, which is part of the Final Cut Pro suite of programs. Hope this helps.

  • @Jackaussie11223 Two questions. What settings did you use on the HV40 and what color correction plug-in did you use? Both questions are about the opening clip. Many thanks

  • @SKayPro Hey, was so long ago I'm not 100% sure but I think the camera settings for all the shots were the same 1080p 25fps in Cine mode. closest 'movie' like setting apparently. I remember seeing somewhere that it is meant to do 24fps...but the one I have doesn't. I think the NTSC model does (Vixia) but apparently my PAL one (Legria) doesn't :(.

  • @Jackaussie11223 Colour Correction was all done in post in Final Cut Pro, can't remember what I did...but looks like I boosted blue in the shadows/blacks maybe did same with green slightly. in the midtones I boosted green and yellow a little and in the highlights I remember I boosted yellow. Then I think I desaturated the whole thing a bunch and probably boosted the contrast by making the blacks darker/more black haha.....Hope this helps, if not sorry for crappin on.

  • @Jackaussie11223 Actually it may or may not do 24p can't remember disregard that statement haha haven't used that camera in ages.

  • nice work

  • Wow it is really interesting, cinematically how you shoot these footages!

  • hey does your vixia hv40 make a buzzing sound in the tape deck when recording?

  • @underpr0perlighting Not that I've noticed but I usually use an external mic anyway, so I don't pick up any tape deck noise...if there is any.

  • Make a short film when you get a chance, congrats.

  • really nice pictures and a really nice camera!:D

  • these are all so gooood! :)

  • Nice Man....Good Edit...I have one myself also...Loving it...

  • love the color correction.

  • @Lennylenbx Oh and the very first shot was done with the wide angle lens.

  • @Lennylenbx The lens I have doesn't have a focus ring or anything its just a converter, so the focusing was all done with the little wheel on the side of the cam. so yes.

  • what wide angle elns you use ?

  • @TheRealMaaqee I use a Canon Wide-converter WD-H43

  • I'm deciding between this and the canon vixia hf200 which has the better quality and does this need a tape to record the videos onto and if so how long can you record on the tapes or memory cards?

  • @DylanW216 According to the Specs they both Shoot 1080p HD, The HV40 uses a tape, you can normally get about around an hour on a standard tape. The HV40 saves videos as a .mov format and the hf200 saves as AVCHD and MPEG-4 not sure about AVCHD but from my experience .mov is a higher quality format than MPEG-4. Hope this helps a bit.

  • How do you upload your resolution to 1080p? Mines always only goes to 720p and I have the exact same camcorder as you.

  • @rhashad88 Depends what you export the file as. I use Final Cut and in that there are heaps of options, and I can adjust the size/ Resolution of the exported file...So I just export my file at 1920 x 1080 or 1440 x 1080, not sure if this helps. Maybe check if there are similar options in what ever program you use to edit/export videos.

  • @Jackaussie11223 I don't have anything fancy right now. I just use imovie on my imac to edit and everything and the highest my movies have ever uploaded were 720. :S

  • @rhashad88 I had a look at iMovie, it seems when using iMovie the largest you can export at is 720, unless you export via QuickTime. I have QuickTime 7 Pro, it cost me about $40 to get the pro version, I am not sure if you can do the following with the non pro version but here it is any way. In iMovie Go to: Share>Export using QuickTime. Then under the option that says Export, change it to Quick Time Movie then click options and there should be three menus, Settings, Filter and Size,

  • @Jackaussie11223 In the Size menu you should be able to change it to 1080, either 1440 x 1080 or 1920 x 1080

You can also change the quality under the settings menu, My exported videos Compression type is usually H.264

  • @Jackaussie11223 Appreciate it! :)

  • mmm, most of thsi was just practicing focus pulls haha

  • not bad, first shot was zeee best
