  • I just wanted to say something about some of the comments that I've been reading for this video. Basically, I don't think that it say's anything in the bible about how you're not supposed to date. It's not dating that's the problem, it's what you do with that person. Premarital sex is the problem, not dating itself. So, I don't believe that dating is wrong, or having a boyfriend.

  • ahh I love this and i believe that God will send me my prince charming so all I have to do is wait...

  • Im not that christan but i love the barlow girls!

  • I am Christian, but I see the concept of dating differently than a lot of Christians tend to. I think dating is pretty much the only way to meet your true soulmate, and it is FUN. I personally see no fault in that.

  • I dont believe in the christian religion or any of the for that matter, but this song has a catchy beat and i like the rhyming. Lol :D

  • Christian attitudes towards dating baffles me. There is this preconception that if you're single and want to be with someone, then you're at fault with God. But look at Genesis. God saw that Adam being alone wasn't good. So there must be something good and fulfilling in relationships between men and women. There may be some people who won't marry, but I don't believe God intended us to stay single forever.

  • Protestant Christians don't believe that you're supposed to stay single forever either... that's primarily a Catholic belief... and even at that, chastity is mostly for priests.

Singleness is a gift for a season just like marriage. So... all we believe is that while we're single we should focus on being single and doing all that God's called us to do. And when it's time for us to be married we'll give all of ourselves to that.

    Make sense?

  • @mathetesmusic Thanks, because I'm like, "Gosh, am I going to be single forever?" But I figured that it gives me a chance to focus on my school work, music, and God. Jesus will bring my soulmate to me when the time comes...I just wish it would be sooner that later. : ]

  • Love this song!!! :) I also like never alone also by Barlow Girl. One of my favorites don't believe? Check my channel by clicking my name.

  • I don't know, because I do believe in purity, and not dating. I believe God has everything under control, so i feel there is no need to stress or freak out, because if your living right with God, than he should be more than enough.

  • hi this song makes me dance

  • this song is so true i made a promise to not let another boy like kiss me or anything else and that i need to wait for god and for him to send me a perfect prince so it is true.........

  • Most single Christians do want to get married someday. Can't you desire God AND marriage? Isn't the fact that we see marriage as desirable due to the way He made us - after all, God was the one who thought it up in the first place. I'm not trying to start an argument, I'm just saying that Christians don't have to put their dreams of marriage on a collision course with God.

  • Why do people tell you you need to focus on God when you get hurt? Does it mean that it's my fault because I wasn't focused on God enough, and that's why it went wrong? Because I felt very close to God before this happened, I felt sure that He'd answered my prayers and it felt right. As for loving singleness, it's easier said than done, but I've never known anything else so I've learned to make the best of it.

  • I'm saying, maybe you need to forget about dating and marriage, because maybe you'll never get married. God might have bigger and better plans for you than a husband or a wife. Think of all the amazing men and women of God who were missionaries and never got married. I'm just saying that marriage isn't for everyone. God knows the perfect plans for you.

  • you never know God could be doing these things to you as a blessing in disguise. read about Joseph in the Bible. His prayer life was very strong with God and yet he was beaten and deserted by his own family and then token as a slave you may of already read this but at the end he ends up king.

  • i honestly do not believe that there is one "soul mate" for all of us. i think that there are many people that we could be with; it all comes down to timing, maturity, and what you need to learn in this life. no one is going to be the perfect "one" for you; there is not a single person that can fulfill that in your life. i'm married to an amazing person, but i'm not so delusioned to think he's the only one i could ever have been with.

  • Maybe it should happen the way Barlowgirl think - but relationships-wise, we're living in the most dysfunctional time ever. That's why I wonder if barlowgirl are a tad naive. Even 'godly' men can send mixed signals and misguide you. That said, I believe in the romance of waiting, and I will do it, but I'm 26, not 15...This song used to inspire me 'coz I believed everything they said and I had so much hope it would work out if I waited and let him come to me first. Now it just makes me sad.

  • I can relate to what you have experienced. I have been looking forward to meeting my "soul mate" since I was 5. I thought it would be pretty simple to find the right girl because I wanted to be the right guy for her. But then life happens, people aren't who you thought they were. It's confusing. But I have realized that I would rather be single then marry someone that was mostly okay. Still, it stinks because two of my younger brothers seemed to find their dream girls so easily, first time try.

  • Sometimes I think: will I EVER find him? I've read stories from girls who are 16 to 21 who worry if they'll get married, and I'm older than them. I wish I was one of those people who found their 'soulmate' at age 23, like Joshua Harris. Sometimes I don't feel like anyone in the Christian dating world understands how it feels when you're waiting for true love...but it doesn't show up.

  • Hey, I know what you mean. It's pretty discouraging. Especially when people try to encourage your with their testimony of waiting for the right one but they got married at 22. I really thought that my marriage was going to be really important to my life calling, so I figured I would have met her years ago. I still believe the Lord has someone special for me, but for all I know it might be years from now. So I have chosen to embrace and love singleness. Not that I still don't miss my soul mate.

  • Take heart, my mom didn't get married until she was 30, my dad was 27. They love each other very much and have a good marriage. I think that you need to put your dating and marriage life into God's hands, because that will be the safest place for it, and if you already have then stop worrying about it and focus on Jesus, in the Bible it says we are betrothed to Him, so He's our first love. Put your thoughts on marriage into God's hands, like elvnprince said, love being single.

  • I put my lovelife into God's hands 6 years ago. When I did, I thought it would all get easier. I liked this guy for 2 years before we became friends. Last December, I prayed that if it was the right time, for something to happen, and it did. Now I feel like I was led on a journey that went nowhere, and it hurts because it means we were never meant to be in the first place. I know that God must have done it for a reason, but it's hard to know what that reason is.

  • I'm not saying I don't believe in waiting, because I do and I am. I just wonder sometimes if Christians idealize relationships. I know that Barlowgirl are trying to encourage girls to do the right thing, but their song doesn't tally up with what I've been through. I bet they've never waited to be with someone and been hurt like I have. There's an assumption that if you wait, everything will work out, but it didn't for me. I know that it probably wasn't right but it still hurts. (cont)

  • well, I think that you do as >God like. Cause you can run away and don't get through it and let Jesus teach you more about such things, or you can just do it and just look whi likes you and pray and if he is he will be!!

  • we need to consider what God likes and the things that are not,for all excessive are bad...my friends quarrels are not from God, and must not be demonstrated by His servants.... love you folks,as i am thats why i commented..God-speed...

  • for everyone who thinks that it isnt good to wait. read this: for the person below me i dont want to criticize but if he was a different person he probably wasnt right for u. true love will stay and wont change. if its meant to be it will happen

  • My experience of waiting has been very different. I liked this guy for over a year before I got to know him. I prayed a lot about it before we became friends. We didn't date, but I felt sure he liked me. He went on holiday and I didn't see him for a while, and the next time we saw eachother he was really distant, almost like a different person. Christians think that if you wait, you'll be safe from heartbreak, but that's not true. Is this song a bit naive?

  • i dont know i mean im DEFINTELY remaining pure until marrige but as for the whole no dateing thing.... i just dont know if its right for me you know? question see i havnt read an actual bible in a while....i lost mine anyways can anyone tell me if dating is considerd a sin or not? im not sure and i want to know

  • Dating is not a sin, but it is not good for everyone. Some people choose not to because they want to focus on God and not another person, or they do not want to be caught in any compromising situations.

  • thankyou for awnsering :D

  • Chasing after boys is not my thing...why are the girls in my gym class soo concerned about guys?we're freshman in high school!

  • i lov this song it helps remind me to stop locking for that sos b/c he already nows when and were ill meet him so i just need to leave it in his hands and stop trying to take control

  • *singing along* I wish my sisters would listen to this... their only just 11 and their already flirting, asking guys out (x.x), and trying to hang out with guys way older then them -.-... well I love this song! And all their songs have awesome points to them <3<3

  • but... don't judge them (not saying that u do), just advise them.... cuz judging don't help at all..... i say this cuz when i was in my 11-13 some 'round that age... i would do things similar to that... or even worse... but God has changed me now that i am a young adult... so just pray 4 them.... :)

  • I try not to judge them and I did nothing but play BarlowGirl through our road trip so at least Erin calmed down and acted her age though Jess just got more annoyed and overall angry x.x But I did drag them along with me to church this weekend ^^

  • Great message.

  • I'm a little confused about what this song is saying. They're saying that God will 'send' you The One, right? Like Sleeping Beauty, 'cause He's writing your 'love story'. I totally believe that, but does it mean that you don't have to do anything 'cause God will do all the work? What if the guy doesn't do anything to get to know you, because he's really shy? How do you ever know if it's right or not?

  • Well, if he's "the one", then he won't be too shy. You just have to wait to see if it's right or not, you get a feeling.

  • Off course you have to get to know someone and then judge if he's the one, but sometimes it's not what you expect. I don't think he'll be to shy, there has to be a connection between the both of you and it doesn't matter whether he's shy or not. It is about the feeling.. ;)

  • Barlow girl is great their just what christian music needed

this son is jus the best it tell the truth

wainting maybe hard but its worth it in the end

  • i have a crush...who knows if he likes me!..he's so cute!..this song is ALL the truth!

  • I love that song it is so true and touches my heart! But I do have a crush on this guy but I'm not dating him yet. Do you think that I should?

  • i just love this song

i so wanna see them in concert!

  • While I believe that God is writing my love story, sometimes I wonder why He's taking so long, and where it's going. I'm grateful that I'm not looking for love in clubs and places like that, but waiting can be hard. It's scary when you don't know if you'll ever meet anyone and when it feels like great guys never notice you. There must be girls like me out there who have been waiting forever and are wondering why they're still single.

  • A man was taking it easy, laying on the grass and looking up at the clouds. He was identifying shapes when he decided to talk to God. "God", he said, "how long is a million years?" God answered, "In my frame of reference, it's about a minute." The man asked, "God, how much is a million dollars?" God answered, "To me, it's a penny." The man then asked, "God, can I have a penny?" God answered, "In a minute."

Otherwords, God does things when the time is right. so keep waiting.

  • lol thats hilarious

  • How is that hillarious thats the trouth that they're speaking! ;)

  • ik!im a christian too...i was writing it to sum1 else...but u cant see there comment bc it was a long time ago.

  • i was responding to kahrytan...

  • Thanks for replying. Every time I tried to pursue a guy, it just ended in disaster, so I took myself out of the chasing game. Then I fell in love. I didn't go looking for it, it just happened. I tried so hard to do it God's way and wait, instead of diving straight in and messing things up, but it's been a few years now. I've kept praying about it but he's not really noticed me. I've had my heart broken so many times and I'm scared this will end exactly the same way.

  • Are you two friends? If not, whats taking so long for you to become friends?

  • You're a very nice person! Wanna be my friend? I'm new here on YouTube...

  • That is soo true but it is kinda confusing because you never really know what God has instore for you untill the day

  • "coz God is writing... my love story" I LOVE that!

  • totally i luv this song! it says so much! and i think barlow rocks! they are the best ever!

  • totally i luv this song! it says so much! and i think barlow rocks! they are the best ever!

  • well u never know unless ur like barlow girl or something. I was just saying. I dont like know know them but its was a question that wondered me. there awesome, but i was thinking about it since we seen them in winter jam. i mean like when we went by there booth, they were signing autographs, but you wernt allowed to talk to them or anything. All they did was sign ur autograph and ur gone.

  • Well i have been to 20 concerts I have gotten to know the girls. They care about their fans I know on the winterjam tour they have to be in a hurry b/c most times they are having to rush to sign autographs for everyone in their line before the venue says everyone has to be out They dont like to cut the signing line short Alot of times they are also having to hurry so they can get going to the next show. They would love to spend more with their fans but its hard when you have 600 people in line!

  • It is just 3 of them, they are human just like the rest of us. They get tired and wore out. I assure you they do care about their fans. Alot of bands don't even sign. Alot of bands will cut the line short. They don't do that. I know some of the other bands at winterjam didn't allow pictures with the Band but they did.

  • you're so lucky! i've been to 1 of their concerts but i absolutely love them!

  • i wonder if those bands really care about there fans or not??? its a question that will probably be wondering in my mind forever.

  • What do you mean? Yes the Barlows care about their fans.

  • I seen them at winter jam on march the 7. They ROCKED!!! I seen them in indiana

  • What good does dating do for you? A few months...MAYBE a year or two(rare) of happiness...but then what? A broken heart? Instead, become really good friends...wait 6 months or something and then you'll see if he's really the right one. BY THE WAY DATING before you can even legally get married is downright stupid. God created our hearts to be whole, not broken before we even meet the man who deserves our whole heart. Not pieces of it

  • I agree w/ you, supersarah22093. And with this song. Totally!!! Right on! :D

  • i think this son is about how God is going to take care of us

and for us not to tHink about or worry about our love life

    YAY JESUS

  • wow what a stpid thing to argue about....its a freaking song..get over it!

  • so did ithey fricken rock last night at the fors center dude them and mercy me last night rocked!!and rolled lol

  • Dude,i just seen them in concert last night,at winter jam

  • I did too I was one of the girls who were jumping up and down and screaming and singing with them!! I love barlow girl!! they can ROCK!!

  • Yes stop argueing about it. We all have our beliefs and opioions on it. I will have to start deleting comments that are argueing about the video.

  • Guys instead of argueing on here an listen to the song. Just please stop. Everyone has their own opinion! So please just stop, its not fair to people on here to have to put up with you comments.

  • "how is not dating an effective way of maintaining your integrity before the Lord?"

Because dating is divorce practice. Although I don't subscribe to the Calvinistic concept the God has one special person predestined for each of us. Meet somebody you like, court and marry. Do right by each other according to His word and you'll grow in love forever. I know this personally.

  • this song makes me cry. i am in love with it in every way.

  • i looooove this video!!!! my favorite one ever!!! :)

  • its a great song 4 ever

    prais God.

    kiss

  • Could someone please help me understand the message behind this video. I understand the virtues of chastity, faithfulness and patience, but how is not dating an effective way of maintaining your integrity before the Lord? Is Barlowgirl trying to say that if someone asks you out you're supposed to say no? If so how are you supposed to meet someone in the first place? As a guy who loves God and really appreciates Barlowgirl's music, I need some help because this song is causing me to struggle.

  • They're not necessarily saying that you should never go out on a date. Barlowirl is proposing a new way of looking at boys altogether. Instead of having a boyfriend for the sole purpose of having one or being "in love" you look at every boy as a potential spouse. They are talking about sitting back and waiting on dating until you are old enough to get married, then letting God bring the right man to you at the right time for you. If you have any more questions i'm more than happy to help.

  • Thanks, I didn't realize that the song meant "wait till your ready". I thought this was a universal "No more boys ever!" kinda message. I guess i'm just frustrated because i'd like a relationship and here Barlowgirl is saying "no more dating" /oh noes!

  • glad I could be of help. I know what you mean about wanting a relationship, especially when all the 8 year olds aroud you have a boyfriend and you don't. It's hard to wait, but I think that tha's better in the long run.

  • no,what she's saying is that the best thing to do is to wait for God to send you the right person, don't go trying to hook yourself up with someone you think is a good match because God will do the match-making for you,and will find your true love so in the meantime just learn to live life and enjoy being your own individual self. =] i hope that made sense xD

  • If thats what they're saying then I think their reasoning is fundamentally flawed. The right person does not fall into your lap and God does not send them to you, thats just in fairy tales (oddly enough they mention that in the song itself). We are social creatures, we are meant to interact with and meet new people. If you expect "the right person" to show up magically you're going to end up alone because their is no one person that is the perfect fit for you.

    (continued in next post)

  • As a guy who has been in a serious relationship that has ended because my girlfriend felt "that God didn't want us to be together" I can tell you that this kind of pseudo-romantic nonsense can destroy relationships that could be successful and edifying to God. Also, if you are against dating how are you supposed to meet Mr.Right in the first place? You can't. And then you'll cry out to God asking why you aren't worthy of a relationship when you've blown off all the good men He has sent to you

  • fredredanded, i think what they are trying to say is to try and really get to know someone before dating them. you shouldn't just go out with anyone. i know it may sound ridiculous, but as jesusfreak6256 said, you have to look at everyone as a potential spouse. of course nobody is going to be PERFECT for you but that doesn't mean you shouldn't take all of people's character traits into consideration before dating them.

  • This is an AMAZING song. But God is more amazing. :)

  • Me and my best friend love this song becuz we made the commitment not to date too
