As soon as the police oficer was told that a patient was on board he should have checked in the back, quickley, and on confirmation let the ambulance staff continue on their way. If this officer just said "I didn't appreciate your action and would like you to not do it" and let them go, this could have been avoided. The people should not tolerate this type of behavior.

How many times did the paramedic say "We have a patient in back"? I have been both a paramedic and a cop and the actions of this cop is crazy! First, nigrbob said, the trooper was probably out running his siren. Second, flipped off? He should not be a cop if that is going to set him off (I've been called a lot worse). Third, it's too stressful on heart patients to run code. Last, who did the officer expect to treat the patient? Damn,I would have loved to see the lawsuit if this lady died!

For anyone who is too ignorant to follow what happened here, it goes like this. Trooper Martin received a call for backup from County, he was responding when he came upon the Creek Nation truck transporting a patient they had stabilized at her residence prior to moving her, he got around the non-yielding ambulance and arrived at his call to find backup had already gotten there. As the ambulance drives by, it is claimed that the driver flipped the Trooper the bird, that's why he stopped them.

The Trooper didn't stop the ambulance to choke the guy in the back, as a matter of fact, the Trooper told him to get back in the truck numerous times before warning him he was going to arrest him for not complying. And when he did try to take him into custody for obstructing him, he went for his arm, not his throat. He didn't grab his neck until the medic tried to shove him away. Again, nice try, but cigar

I have worked county for over 13 years and more often than not, it's the Troopers that are the closest responding unit and likewise us for them. A cop getting a donut ALWAYS takes precedence over a person who is sick and in an ambulance being taken to a hospital. The trooper went to a gas station. Not much happened there.

As soon as the police oficer was told that a patient was on board he should have checked in the back, quickley, and on confirmation let the ambulance staff continue on their way. @roseweeper In fact the ambulance goes halfway on the *shoulder* - after clearing a dangerously parked vehicle which highly likely would have commanded the driver's complete attention away from rear view mirror. He DOES yield. And the OHP investigation seems to have IGNORED THAT.
Speaking of that investigation, even IFFF a driver made a gesture - wouldn't leaving a "hot situation" for a petty nuisance constitute dereliction of duty? I hope White's civil attorney reads this. And criminal courts.

First, nigrbob said, the trooper was probably out running his siren. Second, flipped off? He should not be a cop if that is going to set him off (I've been called a lot worse). So maybe the trooper was right, saying the ambulance, running in non-emergency, should have yielded to the officer with lights on. However, the way the trooper handled the situation was ridiculous. For anyone who is too ignorant to follow what happened here, it goes like this. Trooper Martin received a call for backup from County, he was responding when he came upon the Creek Nation truck transporting a patient they had stabilized at her residence prior to moving her, he got around the non-yielding ambulance and arrived at his call to find backup had already gotten there. As the ambulance drives by, it is claimed that the driver flipped the Trooper the bird, that's why he stopped them.

Getting out and interfering with ANY magistrate in the performance of his duties is illegal, so of course it went from a verbal warning that was intended for the driver to citation and attempted incarceration ( he didn't do a very good job of subduing the medic). All he knew was they failed to yield (even after the car in front of the ambulance saw the Trooper and pulled over), then the driver shot him the bird as he was driving by.... it went from dumb to dumber and the medic abandoning his patient compounded it.

@CaptAdams35 Yeah, but the EMT supervisor said, "You can arrest me when I get this patient to the hospital." The cop refused, putting in danger that lady. Im not the one sugar coating this. You say that the cop Is completely allowed to cuss at a peaceful man, prevent the execution of health treatment and choke(Which is attempted murder, if you're not a cop) a man for wanting to carryout HIS duty. Which by the way is a lot more important than the cops duty at the moment.

@x00czar00x The medic wasn't wanting to carry out his duty, he wanted to impose his will upon the Trooper who was trying to figure out why a dumbass would flip him off after not yielding to him 5 minutes prior. Funny how you guys always ignore the most basic of facts. An ambulance with no lights on, so it wasn't known there was a patient in it, failed to yield to a black and white, then goes by and flips him off... looks like a couple of unprofessional dipshits to me. I'd stop them too

@x00czar00x Because the Trooper was more concerned about 97'ing the call for backup than the driver's failure to yield. By the time the Trooper got there, county already had backup on scene. Ambulance drives by, driver shoots him the finger and that's the icing on the cake. He pulls him over and flat tells him he's not going to put up with that shit, then mouth of the south gets out and starts trying to tell the Trooper what is and isn't going to happen.... CRITICAL FAIL

I've seen splinters take longer than that, literally. Get off the poor patient shit, she was stabilized by Mr White prior to transport. He got out with the intention of using her as an excuse to get his dumbass buddy out of trouble and it backfired on him. PERIOD

I have worked county for over 13 years and more often than not, it's the Troopers that are the closest responding unit and likewise us for them. Every call is like a fortune cookie, some bad and some good, but we never know what we're going to get. As for the medic... he already got his and needed to get his ass outta the way ;~)

The cop was probably rushing to Dunkin Donuts to get a donut and this ambulance driver got in his way. A cop getting a donut ALWAYS takes precedence over a person who is sick and in an ambulance being taken to a hospital. I just hope this cop remembers that if his mother or one of his children is in the back of an ambulance some day.
