  • You are pretty cool. It seems like you are actually concerned about Japan and are pretty knowledgeable about Japan. I'm just curious what other cultures you know about and are interested in.

  • @ChristopherJacques Hey thanks for the comment. As for other cultures, I'm interested in Korea and the language. I have a few Korean friends and I really enjoy their company. They're a great refreshment from Japanese culture (sometimes it's needed). I'd also like to know Spanish and some more about some African cultures. But I haven't made many friends from Africa. Most of the people I meet are from N./S. America, Europe, or Asia.

  • why is she crying?

  • Damn this question is stupid and to look for such a complicated explanation is stupid as well. It's natural everywhere else that if a show is popular it will be imported. Western countries/USA don't have interest in Asian shows because that entertainment has a very strong Asian cultural aspect to it, which is unfamiliar ergo uninteresting. But American culture is known everywhere thanks to Hollywood and its music industry, so ppl recognizes it even though they're Asian and find it interesting

  • Japan needs US to survive. Japan is in the list of NWO.

  • I have realized that the last Transformers American cartoon was well received in Japan, unlike in the U.S.A and the rest of the West, although it was an western animation. I just can't understand the "why" of this "inversion". (ó~ò)

  • a total Newbie question. BUT my own view is the Japanese are very open to other cultures & Like to learn from them. even k-dramas despite alot of hate.

theres plenty of stuff from Nihon. BUT anime is overRated & I wouldn't want jp stars to become too popular here anyone who knows JP well would agree.

although i think the US has been an innovator in Movies & Music.

  • I'm not sure how it came about, but American baseball was adopted in Japan before WWII and was and is very popular. It's a cultural and entertainment medium of sorts. It is somewhat strange also to see Elvis, 50's rock and roll so popular. One of the more fascinating things is the historical transition from the severity of Bushido to a culture of anime related things. Thanks for what you do. I want to learn some Japanese with the intent of growling it out like Toshiro Mifune

    in Yojimbo.

  • Konnichiwa Miko. O Genki desu ka? Daisuki! I just want to ask, what is the easiest way of memorizing pronounciations and spelling? I'm teaching myself Japanese and am finding it difficult to remember spelling and pronounciations. Can you help me?

  • Hm..Why not? If western places can have anime then why can't they have our cartoons? They're just cartoons, movies, etc. Just dub it and let people watch it.

  • Ilike your videos. This is one of my questions I had since Japan does try to adopt alot of western cutlure I hate to say it they love white trash rednecks and even those Gudio types of gangsters. Thats one of the western styles I dont get why they love it so much nowdays maybe it looks cool in the west or something to do with its pop culutre? I think its really bad for their image these days

  • In other words Japan is like a big sponge.

  • Also, what's your deffinition of "Japanese technologies". All of the designs you see like digital cameras, cell phones, cameras in cell phones came from american patents. Yes they improved some. I would rather think of it as a contribution to mankinds collective knowledge though. I don't know of any japanese "original" inventions. It should not lessen their contributions in any way to some engineering improvements. I believe thier both equally important.

  • @Sceaf1 Oh, the irony.

  • Well yes Sony fronts money for movie projects like sony it does not mean it's less american. It's not like they supply actors or writers they don't do that at all. But they do invest making thier large movie budgets possible.

  • chinese language charactors in japan. why?

    american entertaiment in japan. why?

    indian curry in japan. why?

african hair style in japan. why?

because. japan belongs to them? NO

    thats a JAPAN

  • there curry is different i make it i would know =]

  • Damn that was DEEP.

  • Actually, Bollywood in India is the biggest film industry in the World...it produces over 1000 films every year...much more than Hollywood.

  • "Biggest" isn't just in reference to the amount of movies made, but also the amount of power and influence held.

  • That does not make it a bigger industry. It's more important how much money they make. Not in volume in which they make them.

  • I'm Japanese and I've just visited London, and I found the DVDs and Albums to be insanely cheap there, even in retail stores like HMV or Virgin.

I'm bothered by the prices here...

  • some countries go through some sort of infatuation(for lack of a better word) with another culture. I can't think of any really good examples except the U.S. the U.S. is NOTHING BUT other cultures!

  • no one but native americans are truly american.

  • that is very true

  • @daiquirikiss

Even they are immigrants, only from longer back in time.

  • @daiquirikiss That's complete BS. NO ONE is NATIVE to America, everyone migrated here at one time or another, whether it was hundreds or thousands of years ago. I was born here, so I am "truly" American.

And on that note, you are saying that Japanese are not truly Japanese since the majority are not Ainu.

  • @ChristopherJacques Then I guess by that definition, no one is native to Europe or Asia... even S. America since we all came from Africa.

  • @daiquirikiss Yes. I agree with that completely. Basically I only took exception to the word "truly" in your response to that guy. Not even "native" americans are "truly" american. But yeah, the first people there should get the title i suppose. But seriously, I was born here, that makes me a native as much as any "native".

  • @daiquirikiss Hey what happened to your eye? it looked kind of swollen.

  • Its funny that someone would ask such a question "WHY WESTERN ENTERTINMENT IN JAPAN" Duh. The Anime style it self was HIGHLY influence by western clture.

  • yea but then after Osamu Tezuka, anime developed it's own style and that's when manga become more like a film rather than a 2-d comic. Of course, his style was influenced by Disney and Betty Boop. I think after Tezuka, Japanese entertainment began to develop it's own life, which is why it's so captivating for Westerners.

  • @daiquirikiss you should read some comics that have come out this decade they have really deep, emotional story lines and are not just superheros and they have specific plot lines, like we3 that is an amazing comic with a great story line. i think comic books have taken the market back from manga

  • I thought anime was banned in china

  • china makes their own anime.. heavily influenced by japanese style

  • The sort of true but the chinese have already been making comics just as long asthe japanese even longer. Manwa which is korea style comics have also been around for awhile too. Japan just has a better distibution and marketing system and the technology to put their stuff out since the Democratic society (well supposely).

  • 日本の歌って英語の歌詞が多いよね、、、なぜだろうか( ・∀・)

  • what does this say? i've just started taking japanese, and i can pronounce hiragana but i don't know any of the meanings of the words.

  • what does what say?

  • it was the comment in Japanese from Lupporoits. i couldn't understand it.

  • A big thing is also how Japan has been modeling its culture after the American culture after WW2. It becomes very evident when you start following fashion and music industry from the 70's (although they have been importing both music and fashion since the early 1900's). Since then it's become common practice to dye your hair, wear jeans, printed shirts, and even being ハーフ。

  • i think the right answer is because poeple need difference in everything.. even in entertainment.. :)

  • That's good information. To update you, the videogame industry has surpassed the movie industry last year, as the largest entertainment industry in the world (in sales of course).

I really like your videos! Thanks for posting interesting info. :)

  • thank you, very informational....!

  • magibon? is that u?

  • what's magibon??

  • Where did you get that idea? She's nothing like Magibon... :/

  • all this can be explain simply with one word, Globalisation! and the notion of free market.

  • Gong tune? don't you mean "going tune"?

  • Great! Thank you.

  • thanks! if you want more info, subscribe. I'll be making more things shortly.

  • Don't forget my favorite Japanese import Super Sentai becomes Power rangers :)

Zyuranger = mighty morphin power rangers

our American Culture is very blended with most of the world,...even if it's not quickly noticable

  • Good. Now my next question.

I want to the movies, shows, or video games I'm making intresting to the Japanese people. I'm want to make music that can appeal to them. You know, music that can be intresting so it can be release in Japan.

What does it take to make that happen?

  • Since you're obviously not Japanese, it's best to stick to what they consider to be popular when it comes to foreign music. These days, the young people are into American hip hop and R&B. If you can follow that route and add something of yourself into that music they'll listen. What's special from your country that American hip hop doesn't have?

  • OK, I just want to make sure what I'm doing is correct.

I was thinking that if I have to make the music notes on my music soud Japanese.

  • you don't mean the stereotypical gong tune do you?? Don't do that please. The Japanese youth are always looking for something new and unique to listen to. If you want an idea listen to KREVA. He's a unique Japanese hip-hop artist with a variety of beats.

  • are you kidding me?! i'm from america. spanish american that is, and i LOVE to listen to the japanese music!!! to be honest, i listen to it everyday on youtube! i like some american music, but sometimes i'm not interested. but i really love the japanese music! its just so......different! in a good way! ^_^
