  • I like all your videos man :) you have a great form on all of them

  • Barbendin freak. Nice job there . Nothin to hate about that haters accept for the fact u couldnt lift half that .

  • Damn good squats

  • awsome now thats the way its done , watch out for haters there everywere.

  • how long did it take u to get to that strengh. how long were u stuck around 250-275? cant seem to push passed it

  • @inktoxicated - It took me several years to get to that point. If you are having trouble pushing past a sticking point, it is more than likely a) inadequate nutrition, b) training program needs changed up with different intensity techniques, frequency, etc. or c) a combination of both. My guess is C for most people...

  • Very nice, made it look easy...

  • @Theirondendotcom - Thanks!

  • Impressive and you did it without a belt, you're a monster!

  • Danger - I am president of 2 companies and do personal training on the side as well as have a wife and daughter...I have to manage my time very wisely to say the least!

  • you dont have to go past the upper thigh in powerlifting squat that was spot on. real good squat great strength

  • Keep up the awesome work, and keep posting the videos!!! You will continue to grow as long as you move such heavy weight with awesome form! It's definitely encouraging to all who watch.

Additionally, I respect and believe that you're a natural athlete. Your physique and strength is attainable without drugs, but not without incredible effort. Do you have a job, or are you able to dedicate your entire life to training and eating?

  • Dont let people talk trash to you bro, regardless of what they say, in my books that was ATG. Your hammy was practically touching your calf. Very impressive.

  • It seems to me that he's doing a low bar squat, in which it isn't wise to go extremely deep (past parallel) because he was sacrifice keeping a neutral spine. You might notice in other videos of people doing low bar squat, there might be a slight rounding in the lower back at the bottom of the hole, which can actually be counter productive because the spine is out of its neutral position. All in all, great lift! Much respect and don't listen to people who say you aren't squatting deep enough.

  • Very nice. How is your training going since this video?

  • Deep isn't the right word, but still great strength.

  • @TBW92 - I agree, it's not all the way down in the hole, but I did what I could with that weight

  • @TBW92 "deep isn't the right word"? Are you kidding? That was a textbook squat.

  • @Paripovich this is barely parallel. Deep is ass to grass, so deep isn't the right word.

  • @TBW92 His hamstrings compressed his calves. Please post a video of yourself squatting to show me "deep", please.

  • @Paripovich jesus dude the guy who made this video even agreed with me. fuck off

  • @Paripovich if you want to see a god damn deep squat so bad, type in "pat mendes 800" here on youtube and watch the first video that comes up.

  • @TBW92 The Pat Mendes video I just watched showed him drop into the same position this guy was in. Yeah, you could get a little rebound, but you risk your knees. I stand by my opinion that this is legit deep squat.

  • @Paripovich Feel free to have whatever opinion you want. I didn't mean to ridicule the lift in the first place; it's a hell of a lot better than what I can do. My deadlift isn't even 475 so I'm pretty far away from this sort of lift.

  • @TBW92 that was deep...

  • @MiniMullet12 i don't give a fuck about some comment i made a month ago

  • @TBW92 then why did you reply?

  • @MiniMullet12 because i get a damn email about it. fuck off

  • great lift

  • nice lift

  • Beautiful ;_;

  • at no point did you let off an absurd scream or grunt...that's probably the most impressive thing from this vid! Drives me insane when I hear guys do it. Thank you for proving it isn't necessary to lift some big weight!

  • @Oblander - Haha...thanks!

  • @Oblander strong people dont need to scream or grunt to lift, geneticly weak people do and thouse that break world records usually

  • good job im at 455x4

  • damn! beautiful.

  • good job, nice form btw

  • good to see someone using glute drive! tooo awesome btw

  • Awesome! But do you find it hard to squat in those sort of trainers? personally I found them too bouncy lol.

  • Damn!

  • that's just pure strength dude, impressive.

  • Wow nice job. Very strong.

  • Awesome Reps!!! I have the exact same weights at my gym and unfortunately, the 45's weigh 43lbs. So my 405lb squat is really in the 390's.

  • how far apart do you stand?

  • Holy shit, if he dropped it his hands would have been fucked up. They were directly over the two catchers

  • i love the people who accuse you of steroids. Squatting 475 isnt that hard to believe I know tons of people who can. You have solid form and you get great depth and by my pure judgement of this video you are a bodybuilder and a fairly big guy so you have been putting in alot of work. Just because people can't/don't look like you and cant/never will be able to lift that much they make excuses calling you a roid freak. Good job dude, keep it up.

  • jeezus tommy. I watch your videos recurrently just for the inspiration. Your squats are always good to watch to cleanse my eyes of the terrible form squats I see all the time at my local gym.

  • this guy is clearly juice free, he would be twice as big lifting that heavy ass weight if he wasnt

  • very strong, looks like your raw also

  • Not bad for a little weakly bb... jk jk good squat, I like how you actually went to depth too.

  • solid man right here

  • @monkeyfuerte - Thanks!

  • Great tempo man. Im so tired of all these people taking huge pauses between reps. if you dont have a consistant tempo, you really cant call it a set. Intense shit dude... what do you do on the leg press?

  • @KingGimpicus - I can fill the leg press up with all 45s...I think 22 is the most it will hold

  • @KingGimpicus Dammit you don't anything about bodybuilding!

    your allowed to do recouperate.

  • hey man I see that you go real deep when you squat. I want to be a bodybuilder one day so I'm trying to improve my squat but I can't seem to be able to go real deep. Can you give me any pointers as to how you got so good at squating?

  • @whit3b0y93 - Just focus on lowering the weight and getting the right depth before you try lifting heavy. Stretching will go a long way as well because inflexibility will limit your range of motion...

  • @Sporto4323

What kind of stretches do yo do or recommend? I can only go as far as parallel even with low weight

  • good work

  • You had your pinky tucked underneath the bar and the rest of your fingers griping it. Is this just a preference thing? I've never seen it before.

  • @Rowloman - it's just so I can get a tiny bit wider grip without crushing my fingers in the rack lol

  • dude you should be a powerlifter. for your size, you would blow the competition away...

  • One word strong

  • i think its down to us to say " simply phenomenal"is nt it

  • dude your vids are awesome!

  • Well, I was going to be a troll and talk shit to these people who "say" they squatted X amount of weight; however, I could not find ANYTHING wrong with your videos! DAMMIT i just wasted 42 seconds lol. Keep it up bro

  • Awesome !! Keep up the good work.

  • strong

  • Ignore jacked he's a little wuss commenting on squat vids because he's jealous of people that are stronger than him.

  • @Authan65 I agree...sad and pathetic these people are sometimes. I really pity them and the sad lives they live...

  • my 6 year old sister is more intense then you

  • @jackedblob With a name like blob, you have a lot of room to talk LMAO

  • @jackedblob please post a squat vid.

  • @jackedblob please go fuck yourself. :)

  • what are you injecting?

  • @c8h3p I don't inject anything, but thank you for the compliment! I love being accused of steroids, means I'm doing something right :)

  • @c8h3p just because someone is a beast like tommy doesn't mean ur using steroids. its called hard work in and out of the weight room

  • @mlr6213 - Bingo! But it's nice to have a natural physique and get accused of steroids...it means all my hard work is paying off!

  • @mlr6213 - Bingo! I spend more time on nutrition than most ever do even during a contest prep!

  • great form...you dont see to many "weight lifters" break parallel

  • @roulifesaver Thanks! I don't consider myself any average weight lifter either...I hold myself to higher standards!

  • Very impressive squat strength bro....extremely strong for a bodybuilder and your form/depth was definitely on point. Great job.

  • heavy is the way to go

    props on your success man

    drug free is true bodybuilding

  • Thanks deadman...I appreciate that!

  • lol he ain't on over the counter supplements... they come from the black market

  • Thanks for the compliment! I love it when people accuse me of using steroids - it makes all the hard work I've done over the years that much more worth it!

And if you spent more time working on yourself and less time prejudging other people, maybe you could have a physique worth being accused of drug use :)

  • @Sporto4323 Haha, I will be happy when someone thinks I`m on steroids :D

  • you have a great performance on your videos, how much do you weigh here & how tall are you?

  • Here I weigh about 215-220...I'm 5'10"

  • Yeah and when we met up to train at Powerhouse last year you looked like you were 250, ya damn freak lol!!!

  • Hi, I'm 18 years of age, and just recently, maybe 2-3 years ago started to get into the weightlifting groove. I've been increasing steadily from year to year, but I wondered if you had any tips for gaining muscle mass in the chest/arms/back naturally, and on a tight schedule. I'm limited to my weightlifting class during school, and only about 2 hours after school.

On a side note, does taking whey protein powder help as much as people say it does? I only ever lift on my regular diet and water.

  • Whey protein powder is good for hitting protein requirements for the day. It has its place, but I prefer whole foods.

  • Great form, great workout ;)

  • Thanks!

  • exactly, the way i see it, if you have great genetics like yourself and jim cordova and shawn clarauda(spelling?) it is not impossible to build a physique like that, it just takes an extremely large will, and the high ability to tolerate high amounts of pain on a day to day basis. We need more athletes like you guys in this day and age. I cannot wait until natural bodybuilding gets as big as the ifbb one day, dont worry it will come

  • I hope you are right! It certainly deserves the recognition the steroid users get!

  • but whats amazing is that layne and others like jim cordova look bigger and better than 90 percent of roid users in the gym

  • Which is why we get accused continuously of being on steroids :)

  • oh ok sweet I appreciate it, I am 19 years old and Have been training very hard too become a bodybuilder, I entered my first show this year and won the teen class, I am just at a very hard point in my life, because I am wondering whether I should train as a natural like you guys, or begin using performance enhancing drugs and compete in open competitions. I have good genetics, and seeing your videos makes me want to continue as a natural, i just have no one around me who is a natty to talk too.

  • Natural all the way mate! Those roided up dudes look like freaks. Plus they have health issues in later life. Fuck that off!

  • Comment removed

  • Nice Job Bro....you and Layne get me fired up!

  • Good! That's what it's all about!

  • good job man, you have an amazing natural physique. Most people could only dream of having a physique like this naturally. Ive got a question though, Ive never hear of this scitivion brand, would you say that there products are up to par with say gaspari or bsn? Ive just never seen them. and by the way when is your next big show?

  • Scivation honestly is an awesome brand and VERY high quality. Their products in my own opinion exceed gaspari and bsn, and not just because I am sponsored by them, but because their stuff flat out works. I was using their stuff long before they ever picked me up as a sponsor. If nothing else, they are worth a try at least

  • Which supplements from scivation or other brands you take?

  • Scivation Essential-FA

    Scivation Sesamin

    Scivation VasoCharge

    Scivation Chocolate Whey

    Scivation Xtend

    Primaforce Beta Alanine

    Primaforce Elastimine

    Primaforce Cissus

    Primaforce Insopro-R

    Primaforce ZMA

  • Which would you recommend for a low budget amateur?

  • What's the budget?

  • Well I want to get the necessary or the ones that make a significant difference without spending tons on supplements... I'm just taking protein powders right now.

  • just when I think I'm doing great.

    I posted todays workout.

I am just a few months from 50 years old.

your strength is awesome very nice videos

  • Awsome lifts, but I noticed they're not quite parallel. What's your stand on this? I can't go much lower then you can, unless I kick my knees really far out.

  • for that much weight he is doing, that is considered verygood depth.

ur not squatting low enough probably because u are just not used to it, simple as that. it was the sme for me.

just start off with lightweight so u get the hang of squatting very deep. dont be afriad of looking weak doing low weight. at least ur squatting properly and its all that matters.

  • the aMount of weight does not change the required weight dumbass. should i load up 800 pounds and squat 1/4 of the way and call that a squat just because it is 800 pounds in the bar. even going parallel is faggotry. i go ass to the grass.

  • Good for you! I have since placed small plates under my heels and now sit all the way down to my ankles. For me, it was ankle flexion that was hindering my depth. My weight is almost back up to my parallel weight, so I'm doing just fine

  • Not only that, but depth is dependent on flexibility in the hips, ankles, hamstrings, etc. Some people with certian structures, center of gravity, etc. simply can't hit ass to grass with good form, without bending over, etc. It has NOTHING to do with being hardcore like the idiotic comment below. And again, everyone has different goals

  • dont you mean the comment ABOVE? serious question though, seeing as how youre a lot stronger than me. when going atg, i find it hard to keep a tight arch. i find it a lot easier when i put a 1 inch plate undeer my heels. but isnt that cheating? doesnt that allow me to use more weight? and isnt that like doing a squat thats more on your toes. i always thought that when squatting yo ushould be using the emphasis on more of your heels than your toes for the squats.?.

  • Yes, I meant the comment above!

Actually, it's not cheating - you are simply altering your center of gravity so that you can sit all the way down to your ankles. You still press up from your heels even though they are on small plates. If you are still leaning forwards and pressing with your toes, you need to work on sitting back more...

  • out of curiosity how much weight has your squat dropped to by doing the ass to grass squats? around 425?

  • I have since gone down to 455 for 5 reps going all the way down to where my thighs hit my calves...

  • that's kick ass.

when are new videos coming?? :D

  • Soon! I just need to remember to bring the video camera with me to the gym lol

  • Really good strength in all your videos mate. I was just wondering you you train strengt hall year round? I mean sets in the 5 rep range for instance or do you have muscle building phases?

  • I train in all rep ranges all year round. I just only post videos f the stronger stuff :)

  • Strong squat, nice work! Do you commonly do 5 reps deep?

  • I take all sets deep, and I use squats in all rep ranges!

  • Great set.

  • shit

how long did it take you to get from 100kg / 220lbs to 215kg / 475lbs? haha

thats awesome i cant wait till i hit 4+ disks

  • awesome lift man, i really like it when you start to get heavy that the bar kinda bends over your neck, i max at 315 x 5 so far iv got a long way to go, but awesome lift man keep it up

  • Thanks man, will do!

  • i got a question, when i squat, my area around the groin starts to hurt, why ?

  • Not sure...could be that you aren't warmed up/stretched out enough and you might have a slight strain?

  • ok thanks ! most ppl tell me i gotta do warm up sets before my actual heavy sets

  • Awesome, got me psyched for Legs 2moro!

  • I saw that its all in pounds but I'm still very impressed also by the fact that your not on roids or any kind of that crap. I'm just wondering what's your program? reps/sets upper/lower body etc. Thanks and keep it up!

  • I use a power/hypertrophy split with strnegth progression built into it...

  • I see... and how many times per week do you train ?

Are you using only the deadlift drill for the hams ?

I just must say I'm very impressed by ur lower body strength, don't see these stuff too much .

  • Thanks for the compliment!

I train 5 out of 7 days a week with each muscle group getting hit twice a week. I use SLDLs, glute/ham raises, DB walking lunges, deep pause squats, leg curls, etc. all for hammies...

  • wow, man! just viewed a couple of your vids. awesome techinque. Not only you got upper body u also got powerful legs, which is a rare combo now adays, goodjob on that dude! Are these all in pounds or kgs?

  • Thanks! They are all in pounds

  • Were you always naturally strong when you were young? Do you have a Mesomorph body type?

  • Not really...just been busting my tail for over 12 years now...it's been a long process of blood and sweat over the years. Consistency over time yields results!

  • youre a beast

  • Your form on the squats is impeccable - even with lots of weight on. Good job (:

  • nice man that is some great squatting there

  • wow! keep it up... videos like motivates that naturally you can lift that heavy. and hey Tommy i have questions do you ever get your shoulders to get sour? las time i had my shoulders sour was like two yeas ago and i always lift the heaviest. i can nothing more then 8 rep. or that is just normal they will not get sour

  • Heavier isn't always better. As long as you're achieving gains then you're doing everything right. If you still want your shoulders to be sour, try higher reps in the 12 range and don't wait long between sets, 30 seconds. That should do it.
