DTV cheerleaders dont tell you that in order to receive a DTV signal, your antenna has to not only capture, but also hold the signal. Anyone using standard rabbit ears on the fringe of a signal(25-35 miles) and receives a watchable picture today is going to be shocked on 2-17-09.
Some digital converter boxes can help hold the signal, using the advantages of a rooftop antena or rabbit ears. I imagine the signal would be stronger at night, like radio waves carry signals further.
Completely wrong!. I have two separate converters and they both have letterbox (widescreen) as the the default picture setting. And those aren't even HD tuners or on an HDTV. by the way, anybody that prefers pan-and-scan to letterboxing is an idiot.
digital tv sucks. when the signal goes bad, the video/audio feed breaks up and goes dead. at least with analog broadcast, if the signal is bad, there IS CONTINUOUS AUDIO AND VIDEO.
if they could fix it so that at least you have continuous audio even if the signal went bad, that would be good.
if you live on the 1st floor be prepared for no channels. I thought i would pick up everything yet with analog i get over 15 but with digital i only get 1 station. NBC 7.1. My advice is get an antennna on your roof if you live real low. If you use regular rabbit ears your not gonna get anything.
For me watching this video was a waste of time. What I want is a technical comparison of units. This video seems misrepresented as a tech review, which it is not much of.

Besides if you have a LPTV station or get your TV off a translator, analog will remain for 3 more years, as they do not have to comply with this transition. I have one of these boxes. If your tv reception sucks now you will not even get those channels. I have one of these boxes and it sucks sucks sucks. I need to get a new antenna. Nice picture when it comes in. Digital is all or nothing. Audio is out of sync with video. Just another crappy mandate from our government.
I don't think it gives you real cable. Just local channels. Those local channels will have more channels. i.e. 12 and 12 2 12 3. ON those extra channels there is more programming. I just installed a large outdoor antenna. It works brilliant now. The indoor antennas suck. I get in 17 channels now.
it didnt improve picture at all :( its sad and amplifiers make the signal worse. what a scam.

The important thing is that digital TV could allow for stronger signals to be sent. Because there is less chance of interference than in analog tv
