YouTube have 'clipped' the end of many of my earlier postings. I don't know why -but I have found that it is better if I make the "visuals" extend past the audio track.
Made my day to hear this, thanks! This goes right back to the source. Felt like sitting back and reading The Cricket in the barber shop, waiting for Buddy to cut my hair. Bunk had some tone.
living as i do near the river Shannon i've heard many versions of this old song and in my opinion Bunk's knocks them all for six, The tone, the power of that horn, the man was sheer genius.
I di not know, until now, that Bunk Johnson had irish antecedents! One of my favourite trumpet players;when I hear him now I think of what he must have been like when he was in his prime.Great music.Thanks.
I'm interested by the other tunes. Dont hesitate to post them. By the way, if you own the recordings he made in 1945 with Sydney Bechet, I would be grateful.
let's have more Bunk he got me into jazz along with Colyer,Barber,George Lewis I could go on but I will not.
Any Don Ewell solos?from Alan Morland,Drefach,Llanelli ,Carms,Wales SA14 7 BN.UK.

I'd definitely be interested to hear the other tracks - more so for Don Ewell's piano playing than Bunk Johnson's trumpet!

Look elsewhere on You Tube for a recording of this tune by the great Irish tenor John McCormack. I wonder if Bunk knew the record?
