Haha, cute vid, and regardless of the humorous slant, this IS probably what would help S.Beach get out of its slump. FL exists on tourism (S. Beach in particular), & with the way the economy has been in recent years, if something doesn't change, we're all "going to Hell in a handbasket". Fortunately we're a peninsula, so maybe that'll help with the fire. Basically he can push to have the city legalize/decriminalize cannabis within the confines of the city. The city police would have no jurisdiction to arrest, but the state can come in and arrest. But the state probably wont, because it costs a lot to patrol a city; more than the state can afford to maintain. How many state troopers are their compared to city police? Its easy to do the math if you think of it that way.

Good platform, grassroots movements begin at the bottom up.

This is a great video, and an even better platform. I wonder though -- exactly how does a city mayor go about addressing state laws regarding medical marijuana or gay marriage? I mean, don't get me wrong, I think both are very worthy causes. But how would a city politician change state law? I suppose some cities pass "lowest law enforcement priority" resolutions and such, but people would still be subject to marijuana arrests and gay marriages would not be state-sanctioned.
