  • does it work every time?

  • My son does exactly the same...=)

  • This worked on me as a child as well, turns out I had tinnitus, so if I wasn't actively hearing something, I would hear a sharp and head splitting sound that hurts like hell. I still have it and have to use a fan at night to sleep. I've also read that running water best masks the tinnitus sounds.

  • won't it make the baby pee more?

  • WHEN YOU PUT THE FAUCET WATER ON THE BABY STOPS CRYING CUZ ITS SOUNDS LIKE THEY ARE BACK IN THE MOTHER'S WOMB, SO IT DOESNT HURT THEM AT ALL. ITS NOT THAT ITS LOUD, BUT RATHER IT SOUNDS SOOTHING TO THE BABY!!

  • U guys are acting like shes gonna be DEAF! It's natural for babies! Thats a similar sound they hear in their mothers WOMB! Stop making 3 minute paragraphs. If it hurt the baby, she would have cried. The only way to show a baby is upset or dislikes something is to cry. No. She turned CALM

  • What a beautiful baby. I used to put my fussy baby on top of the dryer when it was running. He loved it.

My mother always swore turning on a vacuum quiets a fussy baby. But I never tried it.

  • the water reminds the baby of a familier sound, the amniotic fluid inside the mums belly when the baby was there, a safe place, a nice place, that's why they like running water ;)

    hope that info helped

  • that baby going to have hearing problem by 2 years old

  • I think that turning on the water, vacuum, dryer or fauset will soothe a crying, collicky, and fussy baby.

  • OMG MY PARENTS DO THIS TO ME!!! AND IM ONLY 30

  • she makes like an okay sign with her hand when she first hears it :L shes gorgeous btw

  • She is so cute!

  • Haha, glad to know our baby isn't the only one. She'll tire of most other things -- the buzz of an electric toothbrush, a CD of water sounds, loud shushing, most anything -- but never of a real running faucet.

  • You can also try making a shushing Sound(as loud as you can) right next to their ear

  • when i have kids im so trying that method

  • OMG! this works for our baby too.its amazing!

  • QUE LINDOOOO BEBE

  • Water is the most convenient method, but any white noise will work on MOST (not ALL) babies.

The water not only reminds baby of the womb, but it also can block out other noises if baby is overstimulated.

  • omg...all the negative comments here!! you all act as if your baby/babies never cried or never will cry in their lifetim. l personally think this father did a good job at easing his babies cry. you go fater, do your thang and forget all these negative people...lol

  • Yea, I saw this video 1 year ago. I've got son 7 months old right now and I used this method to calm my baby too. See my video-answer.

Great video! Thank you very much!

  • do you not read ?

  • @niggafromniger actually doctors will tell u it is good to let them "cry out" from time to time, as long as it isnt for long periods of time. It helps them learn independence and helps their lungs develope!! READ UP ON IT!!!

  • adorable bébé!!

  • =cough wasting water cough-

  • quieren silencio? intenta metiendolo en el agua

  • i recommended getting a Solitudes Water scapes cd....and playing it when she goes to sleep, it works on my little cousin who is the same way with water

  • our 6 week old baby only goes to sleep to the sound of running water..we used to have a chair right in front of the kitchen sink.

  • That's a waste of fresh water. You will have a very high bill.

  • No, we play sounds of running water...and for quick fixes we would use the kitchen sink ;)

  • @sidgarza running the water all night? wow, people just keep surprising me about how ignroant they are to the world outside there neighborhood.

  • My S0n is 3 weeks 0ld and the 0nly way 2 get him 2 sleep is the kitchen sink. S0 my husband and I rec0rded the water running s0 we w0uldn't have 2 camp 0ut in the kitchen all night. I think it reminds them 0f being in the w0mb, the s0unds must be familiar. I d0n't care y they like it, as l0ng as it gets him 2 sleep!

  • probably reminds her of her mom's pulse or something... cute baby

  • OMG, my daughter was the same way! We had to sit in the bathroom with the water running in the sink until she went to sleeP!

  • Ditto on what FFO said...and even if you don't want to take the time to "read all the books" that SAY white noise is a perfectly acceptable way to sooth a crying newborn you can figure out with common sense that the running tap water noise is no louder or more damaging to the baby's ears than their own SCREAMS! LOL

  • awesome!

if you go in the shower and close your ears and just hear the water on your head I think this is the sound babies hear in the womb, and that is why they feel uncomfotable when it's too quite the running water reminds them of that time they we're in the mothers womb :)

  • I wonder what their water bill was like.

  • One day while at the hospital nursery

a newborn baby was crying and the

nurse took the infant to the tap water

and had the water run off her head,

as if rinsing her hair. The baby stopped

    crying instantly !!

  • this is very good idea, if it works then baby likes it. Its not cruel at all, I had a tape recording of white noise like washing machine, water tap and hairdryer and hoover for colicy babies, which was recommended by paediatricians.

  • No No No for a colicky baby you do what ever works. It won't hurt her ears its just water.

  • lol It's amazing at what babies find soothing

  • do you know how loud it is in the womb? and its constant and much louder than a tap! i have a child myself and i am a head midwife if you have read all the books properly it will say sudden loud noises such as banging or loud music can hurt their ears a tap is hardly going to do any damage and when you have a child that is crying hysterically you will try anything to help them calm down the tap in this instance probably is calming the baby due to the similar noise that is in the womb.

  • also vacuums and hair dryers and washing machines are constant noises which are soothing to a baby and the majority of the time having one of those noises in the background can help put baby to sleep. so thankyou for your input wisdom909 but maybe you should check your facts with a profesional before calling someone dumb becaus now who looks dumb?? not me and not the father of this baby

  • @Wisdom909 it would hurt the baby's ears if something very loud was put in their ears, but not if it were close enough for the baby to hear it. Plus the baby would let them know if it was loud, they would CRY!!! and babies are not as fragile as u think, they used to live inside the mother, think about all the activites it feels through the womb!!!

  • @MomTo3Angels2010 it dos not hert hes ears

  • thats SOOOOOO cool!

  • cause that water sound same the hair dryer sound, both same sound when the infant inside the mother body.

  • wooooooo

  • it reminds the baby of the loud swishy noise in the mother's tomb. I learned about it in bio class...

  • womb lol not tomb

  • I've had TWO colicky babies in a row, and the same trick worked for them (sometimes!!!)

The shower running, or the faucet.

  • White noise calms a baby-I had a CD of white noise when my youngest was tiny-worked like a charm!

  • I've heard that the shhh sound is what soothes babies...they say to swadle them in their blankets and hold them next to your face..then make the shhhhhhhhh sound and it should calm them.

  • i tried this and it worked great! thnx for the tip! xxx

  • I've read that there's a theory out there that some babies like the "Shshing" sound because it replicates what they hear in the womb.

    But hey, it worked!

  • I have heard that too.

  • i will try that tonight.
