Thats textbook Moni Aizik who is wanted by the FBI thats Commando krav maga, Thats not real krav maga I train with the number 1 instructor in Canada former isreli special forces, and I am lifelong martial artist training for my instructor certification under the international krav maga federation you would get shot just by clearing it. I even discussed this with a professor of kinesiology at York university the body mechanics are not effective.
@BlackTiger689 I won't argue with you but Jager has studied martial arts his entire life, was a national champ has also trained with Israeli Commandos and knows his stuff. These techniques have been used out in the field in "real" missions...not in training environments. You are quick to critique...when it's your only option I guess you could go like a lamb to slaughter or try to fight. As Jager often says it's another tool in the toolbelt...not always the only option.
what martial art is this technique from? And should I take a step forward as I grab the gun hand? Or should I stand still, move the gun away and then take a step back?
@MasterNinja1990 I Know in Mavr maga you Turn your hold Thoso away then do it like that. Coreuse am a Flim Blever in you can Learn Martail Arts from Book as long as you have a Friend or Parter willing to be the oke.
@utahbrandOn well thats great but what if they are just looking to hurt you and the dont want your wallet? they are going to expect you to put your hands up so the upward motion of your hands is not going to startle them. plus keep in mind this is a quick tip, go take an actual class and learn the whole thing. and @BrutalByChoice these guys are world renowned, do a simple google search of the urban combat center and you'll change your tune real quick. talking crap dosnt make you look cool.
Dont you think it would be smarter to push the firearm up when grabbing the muzzle? I do. When you pull to your side if there are by standers, even when trying to aim it lower towards the ground, odds are a lot higher of someone else getting injured. in means of being shot. Especially when it comes to you disarming him because you swipe back upwards crossing more ground then breaking above the head.
Hey there, been watching a few of your videos and I like what I see. In this particular video, when you take the gun off said assailant, I assume it would break and or dislocate his trigger finger?
I know a simple isreali Special Forces move. You push the gun quickly to the right or left side and punch the person as hard as you can to the face simultaneously. Then the gun would fall out of his hand or you take it out because he is stunned.
Unless the bad guy had reflexes like a sloth, he would have been dead. Better to raise the hands as if your scared and dont want any trouble. Then when you engage, you Must move your head to the side ASAP. And even then you have to be fast. This technique actually saved my life once. Im not a slow guy by any means. But when he shot (and they will shoot) it seemed like the bullet was just centimeters away from my face. Much better to just give the wallet.
@utahbrandOn Yes. If you watch all of the tac tips you will see that we also do the other things you mentioned with compliance and with raising your hands. Thanks
@utahbrandOn did you watch the video? the very first thing he says is if you have a gun to your face give your wallet or jewelry its not worth your life
You forgot to mention that taking th gun from someone would be more effective and safer if they told you to put your hands in the air, So there would be less time for them to react on the trigger for the motion of movement on the hands would be the same for atleast half before contacting your opponent.
@catboypwns2 Actually having your hands in the air gives away your element of surprise. There's a martial art that Israel uses to train their forces called Krav Maga that performs disarms with your hands below the person's torso. The reason for this is that at this range your hands are out of the person's peripheral vision allowing you to get a jump on the enemy.

what I liked about this move is all most anyone can do this with a bit of pratice because the concept of motion works off our core motor skill not fine motor skill that you would expect from a juggler or slieght of hand magician or circle performer to have after years and year of pratice
My only suggestion to this very good teacher is after he has showed us how quick he is is to do it a couple of time really slow
Loving the videos, would this make any difference if the guy with the gun isn't practicing proper trigger discipline, because they'd be able to pull the trigger quicker, also what would happen if the guy actually pulled the trigger as well? Would it not hurt like hell?
I teach this almost the same way but instead of just going up to grab the weapon, act as if your scared and put your hands up slowly next to your head like you are putting your arms in the air. This will increase your accuracy and chance of successful disarm since your now much closer to the weapon with your hands. I also teach people to throw in an unusual word to yell seconds before the disarm. Reason for this is simple. The mind needs time to register what you said, that's more time for you
This guy is a joke, and this whole bodyguarding thing is a cheap marketing ploy. Nothing about this is competent.
Why doesn't he move his body offline during the disarm? Why point the muzzle backward, (presumably) at his "principal" (ha!) or another one of his super-elite-combat-bodyguards? A million problems...
Search "strategos international" if you want to see a bit more realism. They dont show too much of their CQC stuff but it should look a bit...uh..different from this crap.
@BrutalByChoice We get guys like you every once in a while and generally don't give them the time of day, but today I ask you to post your extensive video game background for us all to see. As for body guard joke... not even going to comment on this one. Jager
@operationsmedia jager i had a weird dream that you busted into my house lol my glock22 took care of that very nicely lol i geuss i shouldent wach to much tac tips befor bedtime great tips keep them coming !!!
I like this video, but perhaps also practice with turning the firearm so that it is more pointing at the agreesor, that way if it does go off, the bad guy will be shooting himself rather than letting a stray bullet go somewhere into a crowd
I am curious as to what whuld happen if the gun went off while you were holding on to the slide. I imagine that it would jam up, but would the front sight blade rip flesh off your fingers? If so would the pain or the bang be enough to cause you to let go and give the bad guy a chance to clear the gun and shoot you?
Making him say bang was brilliant. His reaction time is pretty fast so, I think the debate of: "but, he'd shoot you as soon as he saw you move", is pointless.
I just noticed something and have practiced this myself but in my tecqnique to strip a gun from someone I first step to the side where Im on the outside of the arm hit the wrist with a closed hammer fist and karate chop to the neck and you now own the gun because of a reflex on your wrist or something Im not sure you cant hold onto that weapon if hit there with a closed hammer fist but that is how my technique works.
@Davidw141 This technique will work very simply and uses fluid precise motion inorder to simoltaniously take someone down and get the weapon and the great advantage is that anyone will be able to use it very effectivly even say a 16 year old kid against a adult now I obviously dont reccomend this whatsoever if you are a 16 year old but if in a worst case scenario this should keep you alive no matter who you are well there are some exceptions but the idea should be clear.
Now, what if there were something between you and the gunman, say a counter about belly-button height. (typical robbery scenario)
Would you use an alternative disarming tactic?
or just let the robber take whatever they want and leave?
Perhaps post a video on that sort of scenario? As many of the viewers/subscribers probably work behind a cash register or behind a counter, myself included
Also the way he grabs the muzzle if the gun goes off the round might jam the weapon and you might have to clear the weapon. I have been practicing krav maga for many years and we do use this tip. Thank you for the videos they are great and full of information
Looking at the way Jager grabs the back of the hand it looks like if the attacker was using a weapon with an exposed hammer, such as a 1911 or M9, he could stop the firearm being discharged as he could block the hammer from moving.
Not sure if that's how he would want the technique to go but it seems like something that would save you should you get it wrong.
should you be worried about automatic muscle squeeze on the side of the assailant, meaning that when you grab his gun, you will be grabbing a moving slide and possiblly being hit by hot shell casing? I get that losing part of your hand is better than losing your life ;p, just some tactical questions. thx.
just as a question, you say give the attacker what they want right, i personally would use this a first resort because it seems to me that shooting is a persons first resort when they want some thing
Hey Opsgear. Great Products you have and thank you for putting videos up like this. Not everybody can afford classes for Self Defense or the likes. Keep them Coming!
@operationsmedia Wait, at the first demonstration, 0:30 pause to be exact, if the bad guy pulled the trigger, the slide would easily rip your hand open.
@Hardwarepat You can control a slide and produce a malfunction most of the time by this technique... the primary concern is to remove the bullet from hitting you, secondary concerns are always there. Great comment. Jager
@Hardwarepat I saw a video of some gutsy idiot trying the effects of grasping the slide of several live handguns with his own hand. The results showed that the full-sized handguns (Beretta 92F, Glock 17, Sig?) had no effect on his hand (no burns, no scratches) and the smaller handguns (Kal-tec) left some scratches (obviously because of less area = less grip). So you can generally jam a handgun by grasping the slide... rather cut your hand than get shot hey?
@operationsmedia why do you pull the weapon across you body in the beginning of the video? you looked fast enough but i was always taught to push the gun in the direction of what hand the armed man is using to hold the gun. Less time in contact with your body.
@killa123211 As you know either technique will work. If you work in a crowded environment like a body guard you may need to clear others of the muzzle, pulling across the body helps with this and it also gives you the full torque on the assailants wrists that you need if you are smaller and dealing with a larger guy. Jager
