I think they could have stretched that ending just a little longer. Notice how Satch walked away from any kind of competitive head cutting thing and jammed with the bassist after breakin off a piece like "son, u sure you want some of this"? lol.
So cool these guys jammed together.thx for posting. Two of my favorite artist/groups
This is sweet. Is that Vernon Reid playing rhythm? This sounds so good and funky.
For anyone who is a Prince fan, Satriani's tone on this sounds very very close to some of Prince's more recent recordings using a strat. i.e. "guitar" and his performance on "while my guitar gently...etc.
It's more than the soldano amp, strat. It's that phat rounded tone. Very cool.
@blackstormer95 yes it is ,and i respect the fact that you're a Dylan fan, but if you listen to the two versions : "the original " and hendrix's , you'll notice that this one"satch version" is a cover of hendrix's cover.... , Coverception ....
guitar gods doing there thing, a generation that caught the "Experience" to keep it moving forward for us generations that never even got close, all good.
people is talking bullshit here, Hendrix was the one who inspired a lot of these so caller "Shredders" around, and among them, I think Satch ins one of the few who can come closer to blues it is true that he lacks a little bit of feeling, bet he sure can blues much more better than Vai, Malmsteem, Petrucci, Gilbert, Reid among other, for me one guitarrist who somehow retains that "Hendrix" feeling, tone and vibe, could be John Frusciante ex RHCP, his tone is surely retro, and very "Hendrixian"
@jerrypeaks But he's dead, so you will never know. And this is not a copy... This is his song and not raped. Just a extra solo added. Nobody knows what Hendrix have been thought. He would just enjoy the music i gues.
@surhit Because he plays a wrong chord briefly then slides up to the correct chord just before he looks to his left and grins. It's what we (musicians) do when we muck up, it's fun!
Regardless what ANYBODY thinks. Jimi would absolutely dig Joe's playing. Joe would never in a million years say that he even comes close to Hendrix's playing. But let's be honest, he come real close and is a lot cleaner in his technique. Jimi was THE man in his time but his time has passed. Jimi was never one to keep looking back. He always wanted to move forward. Oh yeah, Joe plays Hendrix WAAYY better than Vernon Reid. Talk about killing a Hendrix tune. That's Vernon, not Joe.
@sullivan1228 Satriani is just a bald guy..... he doesnt actually have blues feel... his shredding is not blues inspired.... still needs to learn... most shredders think they know blues... but they always lack the right kind of feel and attack.......
@sullivan1228 Satriani is definetely reptilian.... hes got the whole colonialist... darkness shadowy thing going for him........ in that energy is a vacuum .... a blackness....... he belongs with all the heartless reptilian life in this universe......... music is colour... because music is light..... satriani is abs... colourless..... his style is so lame.... no flavour....
Wow Satch and V Reid on the same stage! What an experience to see that. Now that's the real tribute to Jimi! Look at what his influence helped create.

how can you call this jimi hendrix experience?? it's a joke.. it's just JS noodling a bunch of blues licks over jimi's music.. this ain't no tribute, its just another excuse to go on the road. if it was a tribute they would try and duplicate the songs note for note like the original recordings... this is no different than his G3 tours.. poor jimi
@ShadowLancer128 Actually the single coil JS prototype was made when they were developing the JS1200. Joe says it himself on an interview with sweetwater
it's a little overboard for my taste as a listener, but its easy to get into that mode when one becomes the music

Yawn! How about creating something new as good as Jimi? Instead of copying him! I think Jimi would be pissed, people copying him note for note.
