Really, a well done effort. The song is so appropriate and the editing, while not always perfect, is perfect for the song. Really, well done and the storyboarding is pitch-percect, for all the dynamics. Well, well done. And also, thank you for making this!
@koffinkat666 The one with the little storybook was the promo copy and turns up in used record stores sometimes, or might be found at ebay. The price varies depending on who's selling it. Even without the booklet, the album is well worth the trouble to find.
@1912Universal I have never read it but what I take from it is that the whole premise was stolen by mr. Freeze in batman forever?? either way I would love to read this..
What an awesome classic, I could watch "The Black Cat" over and over again, for this video though, I would have preferred metal or something harder, with "Herr Poelzig" (karloff's character) playing the organ solo from the movie(Toccata and Fugue in D minor) at the tail end of the video
nothing wrong they are beautiful people just not in the standard sense of what is beautiful.
especially Karloff has a fascinating face with an amazing Scala of expressions. from so very sinister to the man you just cant dislike when you see him.
and who does a better Frankensteins monster then Karloff ;)
No, not at all. Karloff might be an acquired taste, but many men and women regarded Lugosi as something of a sex symbol. He had many affairs and his last wife said that young men in make-up were always hanging around him.
I <3 <3 <3 this vid SOOO MUCH! First of all Karloff and Lugosi, oh gawd I <3 them! And then there's The Black Cat I <3 the Black Cat! I <3 the music tooo! Thanx for the great vid!
you may have to pay a bit for it on amazon though cause its one of the few out of print rasputina albums. oddly that album has several of their more popular songs on it
The album is "How We Quit the Forest" I don't know how easy it would be to find it though. I don't see her albums in the store too much around here...
That is an astounding film, and very dark, esp. at the time it was made, mixing satanism, subtle necrophilia, and fresh and painful memories of the Great War.
Very entertaining! The music and film go pretty well together. As everyone knows, "The Black Cat" was the first film to co-star the two big horror stars of the early '30s, Karloff and Lugosi. And what a pairing they were! This film is one of the most visually striking of the '30s, with its modernistic sets and amazing camera work. Add on the classical music, and the iconic acting of the two stars, and you have a movie that blows people away. Quite an experience. And this video is great too.
I haven't heard this song since my desktop crashed... I lost a lot of good songs because of the stupid virus that caused the crash. This was one of them. Great vid, I love Boris Karloff, and how could anyone NOT love Bela Lugosi? Thanks for sharing!
блина, это одна из самых мрачно-величественных песен ever! - под неё просто так и тянет умереть на простывших российских полях где-нибудь в октябре - на вологодщине, мать её!
Awesome for a fanvid!!! Silket, the story is about the leader of a cult (Karloff) and his "guests" who are lured into his macabre rituals. Lugosi actually plays a good guy in this one. Terrific little movie.
VERY VERY VERY awesome video!! I love it so much! The music fits perfectly with the clips u used from 'The Black Cat'.....gosh i wanna see this movie SO much!!!
Is the Rocky Horror Picture show making fun of the movie used in this clip? Just wondering because it seems like the exact same premise - Awesome video btw I love Rasputina and this was probable my favourite song by them.
Absolutely miraculous. I've come back to this video for over a year now. It's simply the greatest music video I've seen for any film! And for passionate devotees of Karloff and Lugosi like myself, it's a strangely emotional experience to have them set to music like this... Sublime.
I saved this to my favorites a year ago, and I watch it all the time. its such a wonderful editing job, and the choice of film is just superb. I just love it! Long Live Rasputina!

Your video clip is great and I've rated it as awesome. I've done another clip on some old cigarette cards of 1930's actors and actresses: Boris Karloff from The Mummy,Gracie Fields, Florence Desmond, Charles Laughton, Laurence Olivier and many more.
This is clips from the movie THE BLACK CAT. This was the best movie ever made from Karloff. This movie was made in 1933 as my dad was the art director.

100% artistic license, Lugosi and Karloff respected each other as professionals too much for antics like that.
