lol this is high impact? i respect all martial arts but this is not high impact, watch muay thai or myanmar lethwei or pradal serey, that's are really high impact martial arts
Yes, that is true. There are more high impact arts. However, if one of them kicks you or knees you in your head you will go down just as fast as in lethwei. Why is there always this need to compare martial arts? Enjoy the show , nothing else is really required.
no since they dont wear any gloves or pads. other wise it would be murder. what i want to know is what is mircosoft doing with a karate team?? is bill gates into karate or something?
@tchkaine Bill Gates personal army is trained in Karate to fend off the attack of the Chinese army who will invade the world in 2012 ... or it's just sponsorship ¬____¬
There is a ballance. Without gloves you get the full effect of bodyshots, but headpunches becomes ...impractical for tournaments sparring. With gloves, even thin MMA type gloves, you are able to fight with headpunches, but bodyshots loses a lot of their effect.
Sure kyokushin has developed to fit the knockdown karate rules it competes with, but you could say that about thaiboxing, boxing, kickboxing and all the other full contact sports as well.
kolsyrade, you're right, not even the MMA tournaments are real fighting since there are rules. my point was just that if you spend a lot of time preparing for tournaments where you don't have to worry about blocking punches to the face, you might get used to that and have trouble in a real fight.
But at the same time a boxer might break his hand if he punches with it without a glove. A thaiboxer will get into trouble if he neckwrestles someone with judo-like throwing skills, a mma guy taking someone down will get into trouble if he has a knife or friends.
Facepunches are there in kyokushin outside competitions. The competition guys, usually the best fighters, tend to specialize and get weaknesses according to the sport rules, but thats the same everywhere
yes, and anyone will be at a disadvantage going up against someone with a gun. punches to the face seem the most thing you'll encounter in a fight--you might disagree. you must be a kyokushinkai practitioner--please don't take my question or comments as a critique of your art. in any case, i'm glad to hear punching to the face is covered in regular kyokushinkai training.
impressive documentary. one thing i've always wondered about kyokushinkai (and taekwondo) tournaments is why they don't allow punches to the head (dangerous, i know, but they could use the kind of gloves used in the UFC). one problem is that this kind of karate doesn't seem to prepare one for a real fight where punches to the face are a reality. or is it that kyokushinkai is not about real fighting any more, just tournaments? no disrespect intended, this just seems an obvious question to ask.
this is a valid argument. kyokshin with a little extra training (for relfex blocking of the head) perfectly prepairs you for real fights. but if that still isn't good enough. try looking at arts like daido juku kudo. its basicly limited rule kyokushin karate.
and the gloves used in UFC don't do a very good job protecting. kyokushin fighters hit really hard. little 3oz gloves dont do very much. in the beginning kyokushin had head punches, but to many people go seriouly F***d up in class sparring
just saw the Daido Juku Kudo video clips. you're right, they're really powerful and effective fighters! and they've got throws and grappling in their tournaments. i'd love to see them enter the UFC or other MMA leagues to find out how they do. most MMA fighters seem to come out of wrestling, muay thai, or kickboxing, at least in UFC. not many with japanese karate backgrounds.
Actually, there are MMA tournaments in Japan that allow head-butts (without any protection). If you'd like to see a video of this search "YAMAZAKI SEMPAI BEST FIGHT!!!!!!!" , the winner is, of course, a Kudo-ka. There is also a karate tournament in Japan part of "CHAOS MADMAX" that is bare knuckle and allows everything, including groin kicks and eye-jabbing.
From what I understand, the styles that competed on "Chaos Madmax II: Karate Bloodfight" only fight like this on that particular tournament, i.e., they don't actually train with bare-knuckle punches to the head, indeed that would be kind of crazy. They train as what is known by gloved karate/kickboxing/mma karate, or in some instances in the same way the Kudo guys do.
I'm assuming this based on the styles the come from which are: Rishin Juku, Kenshinken, Kenshinkan, Shien Juku, and Kyokushin.
Now, in case you were referring to Knockdown bare-knuckle karate styles (punches below the neck), there are many; especially in Japan. Some of these are: Shidokan, Seiwakai, Byakuren, Sato Juku (also known as Odo Karate), Kyokushin-Kan, Kyokushin, Shin-kyokushin, Seido Kaikan, Enshin karate, and Ashihara karate.
Wow, thanks for the leads. I am talking to Chaos madmax now. They have an event in October. However, I am moving to Thailand. I want to do a series on Muay thai.
Happy to be of any assistance. It's too bad about Chaos, I would have loved to see what you would have done with it. However, a series on Muay Thai sounds fantastic. I wish you the best on your trip to Thailand.
I just filmed Chaos MadmaxIII. It was great. It should have been illegal. It was insane. Blood everywhere. Two or three really excellent insane fights. It is like an underground fightclub.
Osu!! I'm glad you got the opportunity to film it. Your upload should be the first, and long overdue, taste of 'Chaos Madmax' YouTube gets (I believe).
I got the rough edit for Chaos madmax. I think it might be my best piece ever. Bloody and interesting. I think Bare knuckle might be the wave of the future. Crazy and interesting. It was like the early days at UFC. Thanks again. I am going to Thailand in a few days so you will be seeing a lot more muay thai fights and a lot more on training.
Actually fighters like Georges st Pierre and Bas Rutten started their careers training in Kyokushin is extremely technical striking and in my school we have days that we train to the head like Muay Thai I will say you are very right about the "is it that kyokushinkai is not about real fighting any more, just tournaments?" some schools who are tourny crazy get away from what is important real fighting. also K-1 was founded by a Kyokushin Karateka
2:40 this taller fighter is Donatas from Lithuania. Best fighter ever :D

Wow. I would really enjoy seing Wing chun in this.
I wonder how it would do.

just people poking as fast as they can.
im a noob.

@guidosp88 MasOyama and his first students fought against the lumpinee's strongest champs in the 60's, and they won.
Nowadays Kyokushin fighters prooved several times their strenght in K.1 against Thai fighters.

No, funding abortion clinics in Afrika is more Gates style. Microsoft is probably a corporate sponsor for the event.
