I really miss arcades. I remember having so much fun with friends and challenging each other to a game. Except for something like Gameworks, you do not see arcades operating anymore. Part of americana that we will probably never get back.
It's way different now than it was in the 80s locally. You could always find an arcade. There were at least 10 fairly decent sized ones in town including the one at putt putt and TimeOut at the mall, Magic mountain, Moore's, and then there were game rooms in grocery stores, convenience stores..anywhere..even at restaurants they had cocktail game machines. Or even at the brake repair shop. Aladdin's Castle was a big deal when i got to go to it. It was crowded, noisy, and i loved it..sigh
@DjJohnnyM68 do you know you can play mame games on your laptop or pc ? i have tons and all the classics play on nearly every low to average pc ,if you want ill message you with the links for the emulator and games .
The true classics of the videogame era ...real machines and not home versions, have been dead to me for a long time...20 years...strange that you guys in St. Pete held onto them for as long as you did. I'll open up an arcade when i win the lottery, and every classic game head is invited.
@DjJohnnyM68 do you know pal i have allways said the same if i get a big win ,i live near blackpool uk and its well known for its arcades but the classics have all but gone now its such a shame .
Yeah..similar story here..all but the games less than about 5 years old have gone..and those don't mean anything to me. IN a town of 23,000 there are three arcades that offer redemption games, fighting games, multi player driver games, Dance dance revolution and stuff like that..No classics in any . ..The movie theater had a coin op MAME for awhile, but got rid of it. Lots of new games cost 75 cents to $3.00 per play..They don't have tokens like i did growing up..used to be 6 for $1 average.
Sad to see a place like this close. It looked like a unique assortment of classic pins and videogames, almost like a museum. I guess another casuality of the economy and changing times.

It'll never be like it was. At least the games were auctioned off to people who would appreciate them...
