what a brutal fight. Imagine being kicked or punched by either of these fighters consistantly for 12 minutes. I reckon 1:51 was the kick that finished off Saki's body (the reason it was battered for the overeem fight) and it looked like it really hurt him, but strangely enough, Ghita didn't land another kick in that spot, opting to attack the leg instead! I wonder had he landed a couple more body kicks instead of leg kicks he could have won that.

What a great fight it was though.

Leg kicks do more damage than you think. Get chopped down by a solid leg kick or two to each leg and tell me you can keep going. I've gotten beaten just on the leg kick factor. @ichujini Perhaps it's for the purpose of reducing the damage taken before the final? In tournaments that's a big factor. Midkicks can meet a hipbone or elbow, while kicking on someone's knee doesn't happen so often, so lowkicks should be safer.

It could also just be basic style. Saki is a great example of Dutch kickboxing, which, generally speaking, is characterised by boxing combinations and lowkicks.

My point was that sometimes when you fight a guy that is physically bigger (I know they're both heavyweights) and stronger, sometimes its gonna be hard to look amazing even if you win.
