do you youse the G1000 as the autopilot? I'm just wondering, i fly this in fsx, and I cant get the autopilot in the g1000 version to hold my course or altitude...
@Ardix89 You're right that it is better to lean mixture especially with normally aspirated engines at high altitude airfields. But in the Acclaim, the SOP's call for full mixture thought the climb, all the way up to 25,000 ft if thats your final cruise, when in cruse, adjust throttle, then desired RPM, then lean to what is needed.
thanks for posting this video, certainly a great nine minutes of entertainment. the Acclaim is a special airplane; what a privilege to fly one. well done sir.
hi, soquan. can you give me an idea of what the AoA might be for an acclaim climbing out at 110kts near gtow? are you able to see over the cowling during such climbs? thanks. looking forward to more videos!--|------
If you maintain 110kts IAS through the climb, then as you increase altitude, the visibility gets better because the AOA decreases. But usually you would be between 90-100 for the initial part of the climb. I have found visibility over the cowling at all weights to be good, but there are other aircraft with much better visibility.
Thank you for sharing your great Acclaim video. Check out the Mooney Ambassadors on Facebook. As you saw from our video, we help promote the Mooney Airplane Company and promote general aviation. Safe skies!
That was a beautiful; video and an awesome plane and scenery. I bought a Cessna 182T w/ G-1000 but, I feel with few years I'll be in a G1000 Mooney Acclaim. I love the efficiency and the speed. Nothing like to Alps.
Bro you're living my dream. Since I was a kid I've wanted to own a Mooney. It's still a dream, who knows what the future may bring? I'm still building hours in a rented Cessna but owning a true high performance aircraft remains the goal. I just need to triple my income now.
Wow what incredible scenery there! Tricky approach but you sure made it look easy. Nice vid 5 *
Not a real pilot myself but I love flight simulator X and I love flying the mooney.. I use the garmin 1000 version that comes in FSX deluxe version but I am afraid it's the Mooney Bravo with G1000 instead of the acclaim and I've been looking for payware everywhere to see if anyone sells the acclaim but nobody makes it for FSX
great video. It looked like you landed short though? If that is the case, I certainly don't blame you, That looked like no more than 1800' of usable runway.
Yeah the displaced threshold is for obstacle clearance on the approach, when familiar with airport one can increase rate of decent on short final to take advantage of what runway there is. The incline as you land helps slow you down which makes the short length of runway less of an issue.
Nice vid! Isn't it better for the avionics if they're left off until after engine start, or is the G1000 different in that regard? Definitely a tricky airport to fly out of, nice flying!
When switching battery on all G1000 comes on, that's how it's designed, otherwise you couldn't see engine related indicators such as oil pressure and temp as well as fuel and battery indicators :)
fantastic Megeve ! excelent!

one question: do you need to lean the mixture or taking off with full rich is ok? I'm asking this because of the high altitude.
Thanks!

wow....that landing setup looks scary. If you have to abort there sure is a big mountain looming off the end of the runway!
chandrru 3 years ago
yeah aborting isn't an option, once you're on final, then you're pretty much committed.
