@Nohwri no they did record it together at a studio in vegas in 2008. Akon just added more MJ ad-libs in to the version for the michael album, and said "akon and mj" at the start of the song instead of "konvict music" where he did in the leaked version

When I first heard the duet the first thing I said is "why is it more of Akon"? Well, now that I heard this...wow, I love it more! Michael's voice is always sounded so heavenly...I missed him everyday but when I listens to his songs, which I do all time it feels like he's still with us.
