Sexualisation of the female athlete...where the hell did that come from. Real derby is the complete opposite... Or did I misinterpret? Go Galway roller girls!!!
I am curious to know what you, the filmmakers (as well as what any skaters that want to join in the conversation) think about the comment in the Derby Baby trailer that states, "It's the sexualization of the female athlete." I am just wondering, HOW is it the sexualization of the female athlete? I can see that being the case 5 years ago, but do people still see it that way?
@sunflowerspoon i'm in this ans so is my mrs, we were filmed in 2010 at rollercon and believe me from the way skaters were dressing there they were very sexualised, people seem to have a very short memory in this sport, it was only 3-4 years ago we had people playing in stockings and suspenders, yes it is moving away from that but lets not try to delete part of what this sport came from spank alley anyone
I love derby but let's be realistic, MMA is the fastest growing sport and they can sell tix for $50-$1200+. Until Derby can do that, it's not that big of a sport......YET! :)
I have serious love affair with this sport and the man who loves me loves it to.

I joined roller derby last month and I'm seriously addicted, I fucking love it so much. It's awesome and the people I've met through it are bad ass!
