  • i"m an AFRICAN american...and yeah we lost our contact with our cultural heritage, because of the brutality inflicted on us for playing our drums...BUT: you can take the African out of Africa , but you CAN'T take the Africa out of the African!! What is jazz, hip hop, Blues, Rhythm and Blues, Africa is in all of that. AFRICA IS ALIVE AND WELL!!!! IN US WE CAN'T STOP THE ANCESTORS

  • soberbio!

  • Peter Tosh ( RIP)...."I don't care where you come from..as long as you are a Black man...you're an African" !!!

  • @wachaushenzi True but what's also TRUE is that SOME nations have maintained their African traditions MORE than others.

  • I am just sad that as an African American thru colonialism we lost are heritage a LONG time ago. Thank god for Cuba and Brazil for keeping the sound alive!! and Puerto Rico as well

  • WORD!

  • I too am an African decent and I am filled with so much emotion when I see and hear such beautiful rhythms as these. So much unity amongst a people. I love it!! Keep it coming.

  • @tate757 my aunt was a rumba singer and dancer and my uncles were drummers.and they would play 4 times a week.and just in our 5 block radius there were about 20 groups.thanx for your comment my brother.

  • @tate757 i dont know whatstate you live in but their are cuban festvals everywere and you could go and see this first hand.

  • @JohnnyDesaint , hey im in Va

  • @tate757 ABOUT TIME I heard an AFRICAN-AMERICAN brother ADMIT that. I've told my African-American friends that we Caribbean Latinos are " have MORE AFRICAN heritage in our music than African-Americans." They've told me "No, cause they have Hip-Hop, Jazz, and Blues" and I've said, "I rest my case and made my point" LOL! All in jokes and friendly fun, but I think Our people need more exposure to this as well as more knowledge about it.. PEACE

  • @BXGUY73 I am agree with you my friend i am cuban women and you are right in all what you said. sometimes i have this feeling that the black american musly of them. they dont know where they came from. I am cuban and now living in europa. i know many american friend.

  • this is soo real...i love this video

  • I agree with Reno 5. you don't need hip hop in Cuba. The drum is the heart beat of the people. There is no drum in hip hop. It has helped the people get through tough times. People don't travel from all over the world to come to Cuba to hear hip hop. There is no music on the planet like Cuban music. I say this as an African American. KEEP THE MUSIC IN CUBA CUBAN. Don't import that American BS into Cuba.

  • i'm another african american who completely agrees with you. when we travel, we need to tell these other countries to stop trying to imitate everything america does...

  • but i diasgree a little bit about drum in hip hop. there is a drum in hip hop, but it is not as advanced and as exact as the cuban rhythms. remember, the kids who created hip hop didn't have access to drums. there is definitely a hip hop rhythm...

  • That was truely beautiful brother. I love

    your comment. Thanks

  • Tell that to rest of the "brothers and sisters in the US.Can u imagine if we

had been able to play drum rythms like

    the Cuba

  • This is AMAZING! And it gives some reference to the rhythms that I've been studying. Thanks so much!!

  • Excelent! We don't need Hip-Hop in Cuba. This is our music, our roots, our identity, this who we are mixed with the spanish heritage. Better than Hip-Hop or Regaetton.

  • @reno5 YOU ARE SO RIGHT, ESTOY DE ACUERDO 100%
