personally, i think this is the engine bmw should have bought to the usa, not the 35d. as good as the 35d is, i think that the only way to get americans on the diesel bandwagon is to see just how economical they are. the 123d gets about 20 mpg more than a golf gti, but with similar performance. the 116d has better mpg than the prius.

but seriously, i'd buy a car with 200 bhp, almost 300 lb/ft torque, that can get 45 mpg.

I have the same car in 120d not quite as fast but 0-62 in 7.3s with 350 Nm from 1750-3000rpm and 177hp @4000rpm is not bad for a diesel.

With 46 MPG (normal driving with full acc at time to time) it's good for the wallet aswell.

The VNT turbo does the trick.

The coupe I thiink looks great. I'm not so gone on the "Tortoise" styling of the hatchback version.

The coupe has a nice squat, but firm and muscular feel to it, reminiscent of the 2002 series BMWs from the 70's.

I'm saving up right now and will probably purchase a second hand one in a year and a half.
