  • Does anyone else think that the school inspector sounded like dumbledore when he said "and how long will be be in the stocks?" at 0:55?

  • Why is Bertie in this?

  • There's something I don't understand about the ending. He tells the boy to sit down, he says 'thank you' and then the man says 'WHAT'? I obviously haven't beaten you enough, boy!'

What did he do wrong? Talk? 0_o Sorry, I just don't get the ending.

  • @nerdieone1 By the boy willingly sitting down, the teacher thinks he hasn't beaten him enough, because if he had, the boy wouldn't be able to sit down at all.

  • @Lieblingsfachful Oh! Ok, I get it now. Thanks. :)

  • hahaha, i feel like Ben would be bloody terrifying to a child lol

  • bertieberg

  • bertie, dont cry:(

  • Bertie Gilbert who plays the blonde boy is so fit now!

  • @CartoonOperatics93 and he looks like Albert Einstein!

  • LOL Now Caligula's a Victorian headmaster!

  • @CartoonOperatics93 He's also the grim reaper.

  • Really, it's like some prisons i know in the history!

  • Beating is necessary for some cases, but not too much like this. I can see this child did not do anything wrong enough to be beaten terribly.

  • What you can sit down? I obviously haven't beaten you enothe boy.

  • They caned children in the victorian days said the sign - they caned children in my day in the 1970s

  • Those Victorian schoolmasters were right arseholes!

  • BERTIE

  • BERTIE BERT G 8D

  • the head master is aslo the Grim Reaper on Stupid Deaths

  • Inspector: what for

Teacher: Nothing, he's my son. I dont want to be acuesed of favouritisim

    Child: Thanks dad

Inspector: Keep up the good work

Teacher: Jenkins, you can sit back down now

    Jenkins: Thanks sur

Teacher: YOU CAN SIT DOWN, i havent beaten you anouth boy

    (child crys)

  • @AsboJunior If I was that C-U-Next-Tuesday school master's son, I wouldn't have said "Thanks, Dad." I think I would have said something more along the lines of: "F(BLEEEEP!) YOU DAD! F(BLEEEEP!!) YOU!!! GO TO HELL AND SUCK THE DEVIL"S CURLY WIRLY YOU F(BLEEEEEEP!!!)ING C(BLEEP!)T!!

  • I hate to say it but the kids and the parents needs this now days. Perhaps they wouldn't be useless and disrespectful and lazy and more. I got whipped when I was young. Taught me respect and more. I didnt turn out lazy and useless like most people now days. They need to do this in school. I see alot of useless and disrespectful and mouthy kids. That would honestly fix them. No to whip your kids is BAD PARENTING.

  • @experior101 you say getting whipped taught you respect, yet I don't think calling "most people" lazy and useless and calling parents who don't hit their children as "bad parents" shows respect at all. I was hit on various parts of my body by various objects as a child too, so I'm kinda 50-50 on the to hit or not to hit debate. On one hand, I think it certainly improved my character. On the other hand, I've met GREAT people whose parents never laid a hand on them so...

  • And I thought detention was bad!

  • the cage (basket) actually looks quite comfy

  • @LionLiberty

True! :D if the kids were small enough probably they could straighten the leg while sitting in it.

probably the embarrassment that comes along might seems like the real punishment :D

it's said they were hang up in the basket in the middle of the class session above the other students' heads. I'm a shy person, so if i'm put in the cage probably the embarrassment is the real punishment rather that sitting in it! XD

  • @Quetta12 Yeah i guess it would be really embarrassing but if no-one was looking i'd fall asleep in it! lol

  • @LionLiberty

lol! true.. we could fall asleep there if we're not scared being caught by the teacher & getting a worse punishment later XD

  • @Quetta12 yeah I would be scared if I lived in those times, and I thought MY school was strict! and this victorian school is PRIMARY school so imagine what it would be like in SECONDARY school

  • @LionLiberty

This would make me scared of making a mistake everyday too.

I thought my primary school was pretty strict too then & even stricter than my secondary school. now that I compared it with this school, we were being spoiled back then. ^o^ lol

  • @Quetta12 yeah makes you consider yourself lucky you weren't born in those times

  • did the reception kids get this aswell

  • he misspelt the word antidisestablishmentarianism.

he should write it out 100 times.

  • YOU OLD MEANIE-PANTS!

  • In the early 2000s, we still had punishments in the 1st grade that are kinda painful but not this severe.

  • Ben may be a mean teacher but he sure looks hot.

  • Poor Toilet, stuck in the stocks like that!

  • we had the cane when i was at school in the 70's. One of the last schools in the west mids, UK to give it up.

  • I can't belive that he put his own child in a basket when he did nothing and its just because he doesen't want to be acused of his child being the most favourate in the class

  • Thumb this comment up if you're sick and tired of all the trolls and dickheads promoting child abuse. =(

  • thanks dad

  • Ben looks like Oscar Wilde with that hair!

  • I can spell antidisestablishmentarianism! (I learnt it when I was 10)

  • compare these punishments to the belt and the paddle or a switch i think that the victorian punishments were pretty bad o.o

  • Keep up the good work? what is wrong with him

  • 3 days in the stocks?! What happens when he needs to go to the loo?!

  • @MultiBelle22 He pees his pants XD

  • @TheHillTV I meant the other thing!

  • for the kid who talked in class, what was the log supposed to do? :-/

  • @Shadow1Fangirl

He had to saw it up into matches after school.

  • @Shadow1Fangirl Discomfort on the shoulder-blades. It cause massive long-term pain if its on their for two long and many children developed humps.

  • Caning was only outlawed here about 12 years ago...

  • @Notafangirl666x it looks kinda fun!!!

  • ......I am the only one who thinks the cage looks kind of fun?

  • @NOTafangirl666x No i would love it as well.

  • @machado231097 the solution isn't child abuse it's destroying cell phones.

  • "thats why we have these random school inspections" lol :)

  • Brilliant! Bring back Victorian punishments. That'll sort out weeny thugs who think they're untouchable!!!

  • I love the little side-comments like "Victorians really did cane children!" Aren't they infamous for that?

  • thank fuck i wasn't born in victorian times!

  • 3 PEOPLE WERE BAD IN CLASS

  • If this is what school punishments were like in Victorian times... what about Victorian torture methods XD?

  • I think corporal punishment should be re-introduced in schools (and that's coming from someone who graduated high school last year). Fights would break out and teachers wouldn't be allowed to pull them off each other because they're not allowed to lay a single finger on a pupil, and they'd be disgustingly rude to the staff as well. It was awful.

  • What does he mean by sitting down and can sit down?

  • @ToyotaTomboy

He means that he intended to whip the boy so much that he actually wouldn't be able to sit down (because of the pain).

  • the cage isn't bad

  • I'm glad there were no girls being beaten. Phew

  • Thanks, Dad!

  • Boys maybe learned will to live in this class

  • Bertie ;D naaawww

  • Is it just me, or does the cage sound like a really awesome punishment to get?

  • wow. e.o ^^ ill watch more!

  • I'd hate to say it, but no kid deserves 3 days strapped to what looks a torture device. Punishment is needed in schools, but nothing as severe as what the Victorians were doing.

  • @machado231097 sounds a bit racist but agreed. Michael Fay comes to mind. It's interesting how in Asia, corporal punishment is so commonplace (and pretty effective actually if used properly) that we just shrug our shoulders and go "yeah yeah whatever" but the American press cooks up a huge storm if a US teacher canes a student.

  • @mxgirl918: And yet many of these Asian countries are total shitholes..........while in Japan it isn't nearly as common and they have far fewer societal problems than South Korea or Myanmar.......

  • @MiracleMile90 I normally wouldn't take offense at that first statement (because it's true) but then I am an Asian American who currently lives in Asia....

I think the problem is that corporal punishment has been misused and abused in many Asian countries (Malaysian public school system: case in point). Myanmar's case is partly because of a govt who could care less about its citizens yet oppresses them.

  • @mxgirl918: It wasn't an indictment of the people per se, but rather, just the leaders controlling their nations.

I've always seen a difference between spanking and CP anyway....feeling that if more people could make that distinction preventing child abuse much easier(including here in the U.S.). Sorry for any misunderstanding.

  • @MiracleMile90 No offense taken. You're right about that. It can be hellish being a teacher there now. Parents have so much power and spoiled brats are taking advantage of it. From the punishments shown in the vid to "don't scold the kid or you'll damage their creativity". hmm..

  • @mxgirl918: The latter idea you mentioned is well-intentioned but ultimately may not work too well. And yes, there are some genuine brats out there........

  • Comment removed

  • A few people in our form need a few of those punishments.

  • @machado231097 I know it's kinda true but that is racist and I'm not even american!

  • And this was the best conditions for Victorian kids, school children actually had it the best in Victorian times compared to the child laborers in the factories, mills, and coal mines

  • I am a student in 8th grade, and we need that damn LOG!

I'm serious, I can't half the crap we have to put up with just because OTHERS decide to misbehave!

  • antidisestablishmentarianism.

U can even check it ;)

    aint i a smartie pants?

  • a few years ago me and my class went on a victorian trip and where victorian children for a day. and we went to victorian school for like 30 minutes. because they don't do any of that stuff any more they probably wouldn't have done it but all of us were so scared that all of us were as good as gold. i wouldn't talk to any of my class i would DO as i was told. and i was the best behaved even though in normal school im not. LOL. it was scary even though they are not aloud to touch you.

  • YES BERTIE.

  • ben is looking good

  • DAMN BERTIE.

  • Bertie Gilbert is in this;)<3

  • @machado231097 Agreed. A little Victorian-style ass-whupping wouldn't go amiss in today's schools.

  • awww! poor Bertie:(

i remember seeing this on tv, before i knew who bertie was ahah

  • Once at a medieval wedding, I got locked in them things you put your arms and face in people threw GUACAMOLE at me! Why?! I just ate pizza with my hands!. Besides if it was me and my girlfriend in the cage, nobody would see us kissing but the cage is fun Yay no school!!!!!!

  • im sure a few girls wouldn't mind being caned by mr willbond there ;) x

the cage looks fun! :D xx

  • Simon looks like Albert Einstein :)

  • :O wow!

  • I'd only be a teacher if punishments were still allowed.

  • @nilaya87 Good thing you aren't one then. The punishments are just sadistic.

  • i think i know what i would have written on that board

  • Hair hair

  • Let's be honest it'll stop kids being bratty and annoying and maybe they'll stop disrupting class and let the people who care about their education actually learn something for a change

  • @chocolatefountain95: Let's be truly honest: It doesn't really work. How do you explain the well-known fact that most prisoners were beaten(or perhaps suffered some other form of abuse), and that studies have CONSISTENTLY, without a doubt, proven that it really only has negative effects on children?

  • @MiracleMile90 I know but I can't really be bothered to argue at the moment

  • @chocolatefountain95: Oh, you were being sarcastic? If so, I apologize, sometimes it's hard to tell, especially for someone who's seen so many actual trollish comments on subjects like this........

  • @MiracleMile90 Well it was half and half. I just got sick of some year sevens irritating me and I just wanted to strangle them. It depends on what you think at the time I suppose

  • I like punishment in schools but this seems almost like S&M.

  • @machado231097

whadda mean "act together"? We ain't crazy, ya'll. We just like doing random things at random times...

For example: riding a trash can down a very big hill :3

  • @machado231097 Would you like it as much if they were to put you in the stocks for your terrible grammar?

  • what a fucked up history

  • I'd like to go in the cage. xD

  • ........ DAMN, talk about a school of hardknocks

  • .......thanks dad. wow

  • @machado231097 Im serious. Can't go anywhere without anyone texting on the dang cellphone. And I'm a teenager! But seriously! It's school! The teachers seem timid to mead out justice, probably after a bunch of frivilous law suits.

  • @Lieblingsfachful really? torture for cellphone use?

  • @HalloweenR5 is mobile phone. ;)

  • @Lieblingsfachful The biggest problem is parents. A lot of them just don't instill discipline or respect in their children anymore, and modern society is starting to reflect it. Sad, isn't it?

  • @SubterraneanCitizen1

Parents still do that sort of stuff to their kids but actually I see the most rebellious kids are from parents who discipline their kids too late. They spoil their kids when they're young, then when they're used to it and start showing misbehaviour then *then* they start disciplining them, which does not work.

Then there's another time where parents just hit their kids but don't explain on why they shouldn't do such a thing, etc. There's a lot more to disciplining kids.

  • @TheCassyJenelle I never said disciplining kids was simple.

  • @SubterraneanCitizen1 The solution is not punishement but reasonable example...otherwise we will create a hidden pervers people as we know many of those old young studentes become after years of canne and slap. Please be civilized !

  • @sinoples I'm not advocating the use of beatings or physical force; I never even mentioned it. I simply stated that I don't believe many parents set up ANY consequences for misbehaving children and this shows them that they can do what they please. When these children grow older they tend not to have respect for others or fear of consequences (jail for example) and cause problems in society.

I am sorry you missunderstood me, it is understandable considering the video contents and my wording.

  • @SubterraneanCitizen1 No, do not be concerned. we wroite here a speedly reactive comments at any moent's notice. Yours is well compossed. Only I get nervous when I remember those awfula days in school having sen many smart youngsters of 15 !!! being sadically beated by dry-minded teechers. As I was not the one to be beaten I wonder which could be my reaction ass being one of the lot....Sure I would crack their cane in their face.

  • @SubterraneanCitizen1: " I don't believe many parents set up ANY consequences for misbehaving children and this shows them that they can do what they please."

I'm afraid that's simply not true. I stopped buying into that B.S. a long time ago......haven't gone back since. Fuck the mainstream media(especially right-wing talk show hosts!).

  • who uses the word "Antidisestablishmentarianism" in todays world. yes i had to google to correct spelling. LOL which means i would be in the stocks as well.

  • They should bring back the Log which is a brilliant punishment.

  • :(

  • Just a curious observation that I have noticed. Watch the clock on the wall throughout the entire video. It goes from 6:00, to 6:30 to 6:45, to 6:33 all in less than 2 minutes.

  • @Lieblingsfachful Crikey, it does! I never noticed that...

  • @lillyshak but it doesn't matter, right? :)

  • @Lieblingsfachful You mean, 5:00, to 5:30 to 5:45 to 5:33.

  • @Lieblingsfachful Well time flythen having fun
