Fair enough. While I am a sci-fi fan in general, in particular the space-based shows tickle my fancy, I do indeed prefer Star Trek because I was brought up on it. Minibari are way more powerful then Earth probably because they have spent at least a thousands years in space. Then they our the 1st ones who are more powerful stil. Yet in star trek every species is similar technologically par the Q and the Borg. The Dominion should have much more powerful then they were on DS9!
@Zorolord no the corporate race has shields they just not that effective. Real life we are working on shields for space craft too protect from radiation. Then nuke reactors use a from of shields too protect it core as a reactor is too hot for any know substance. Kinda the cat race we stomped was less advanced and by the end earth is the most advanced this can be said of star trek too. in star trek most older races are gone so mostly race are similar ages wise.

lol picard's ships have an unfortunate history of blowing up, his first ship was the same class as the kelvin and it was attacked and damaged beyond repair, then he god the galaxy class enterprise which was hit by a torpedo in the warp core and blew up, thn crashed into a planet then he got the next enterprise which was nearly destroyed by the scimiter but was repaired, and now this, picard is a cursed old man XD
@Zorolord Your talking about a multipurpose ship meant for science and exploration, and combat if necessary. The Scimitar was a Reman Warbird with 30 something disruptor made for war. The Enterprise got a little help from two other Reman warships before they got disabled. (Pretty fast too) Even if the Enterprise would have lost without ramming the Scimitar, the Enterprise put the Scimitar to shame.

you cannot initiate a stable warp field inside the atmosphere because of the gravitational forces and atmospheric mass. There is a slight possibility to engage warp speed with enough power and perfectly generated field geometry but you will give massive damage to the planet and its not guaranteed to stay one peace when you disengage warp.
