  • Anyone know who arranged this? I'd LOVE to get this sheet.

  • @amWinRAR Message me with your email, I have a copy :)

  • Fantastic & on the move!!!!!!

  • Thanks guys...always enjoyed your music..you make it look so damn easy. Keep up the good work. :)

  • Is that Jeff from Max Q???

  • @jaydudeGDX Yes.

  • Whoever said "Jeff is a douche" IS a douche. Jeff is now and was then one of the best basses to be in the BHS. Obviously you don't know him or haven't met him cause he's a really nice guy

  • when you see everyone smiling that's what it's all about..

  • 0:38 Please, don´t kill me

  • AHHH THAT WAS SO COOL!!!!!!!

  • Great arrangement! Is this in a true subway car or just one of those airport shuttle cars?

  • that was badass

  • @tigermam4 When I watched "American Harmony", Jeff just wanted to be the best he could be. If aspiring to be your best is "whiney" then I guess your right. Frankly, I think Jeff can be a "douche" all he wants because he has a damn great voice to back it up.

  • Can't get enough

  • When there's a shine on your shoes! ... great song! great sound!

  • this is my absolute favorite video on the internet. i love how they make everybody smile as they pass. they're spreading happiness. who wouldn't love these guys??

  • wow...these guys got old. XD

  • Well singing does " Disturb others" on the subway.

  • I'm obsessed with this vid. I really watch it all the time. They're so fantastic.

  • no. that is NOT Riker from star trek.

  • Effortless awesome.

  • What an infectious, feel-good, upbeat happening. I' m smilin :)

  • I love these guys but they'd probly get tackled by Security nowadays rofl

  • why? Singing isn't against the law.

  • Dude, its so hard to find places to sing now where security isn't on your ass. We've been having trouble.

  • @Barbershop666 but why would security be such a bitch and ban barbershop? Its not like they have a bomb set for the last chord of the song that explodes when it hears the overtones....

  • at the beginning Jeff comandes that shit!! aha. hes straight up my favriot bass.

  • @frostBuckle333 , if you watch the movie "American Harmony" he will quickly turn into a whiney little cry baby , and you`ll think...what a douche he is.

  • @frostBuckle333 Yeah, still, after 30 years, my favorite bass. He's hot. Yes, Jeff, still one of your groupies! And he's a nice guy too, as well as an incredible singer.

  • I love this. It's not really barbershop style, but the words, message, and tone really seem to fit the setting: singers walking around making people happy.

  • omg thats riker from start trek ng!

  • Now THAT'S a quartet that will sing ANYwhere!! The way it should be. :-)

    What fun!

  • it would be awsome if the fantasy quartet did this song,.... but then then again no one could do like Acoustix could! very well done!!!!!!!!

  • LOL QUARTET AT 1:35

  • FWIW, that's not a subway, it's an airport Automated People Mover, similar to the one at Hartsfield-Jackson Airport in Atlanta (world's largest). In large airports with multiple terminals, it moves people quickly from baggage claim.

I don't quite recognize that airport, but they have them in London, Miami, Orlando, and Tampa.

    Just sayin'.

  • In every subway for the commute.

  • This is a very beautiful thing to do. It should be available without prescription on every subway!

  • WOW!! I didn't know Rocky sang so well!!

  • wow..... I'm sure that 2nd guy from the left is Commander Riker from Star Trek. He can sing!

  • @thecelt1974: I thought he looks like him, too! But it's not really Jonathan Frakes, or is it?

  • Get 4 'shoppers together and a song will break out! I think they are at Seatac airport!.

  • I love videos of singing in public. And who better to do it than the freaking Acoustix? They kick a truly ungodly amount of behind.

  • Jeff Oxley is GOD!!! Acoustix are the reason i started a BBS quartet. Love it!

  • Does anyone know the name of this song or where I could purchase the music?

  • It's Steppin' Out With My Baby Medley on their Jazz, Jazz, Jazz CD

  • @mattdre88 I want it too!

  • This is wonderful!!

  • that's super!!

  • Damn their so good! I wish I could do that without getting arrested for public disturbance.

  • That was bad ass!

  • Absolutely amazing! They are making all the people around them smile....we need more of this stuff around.

  • that was tight

  • this quartet is still regesterd with the babershop harmony society

  • What is the name of this song?

  • Shine on your Shoes/ Steppin' out with my Baby Medley

  • that is not any thing to do with stepping out medly thats completly different its shine on your shoes

  • no, sorry coby but he's right

  • i want to see you do that

  • I do know that they just wanted to blast it out. I sang with the original Acoustix multiple times on various chapter shows. Also, I go to Bowling Green State University in Bowling Green, OH where Oxley went to college and he comes around here a lot. He said that it was because for some strange reason he and Rick couldn't adjust to each other's volume very well. They were still good. BTW Max Q is good and he has just as big a head as they say he does in "Here's to the Losers"

  • This is not Vocal Jazz, except in the literal sense that the song itself is a jazz song and it is sung vocally.

Vocal Jazz is usually 5 or more voice parts (Take Six, etc.), often with the highest Tenor voice part carrying the Melody, with rare or non-existent homophony, sung with lots of non-ringable jazzy chords (11ths, 13ths, etc.), and even the ringable chords tend to be microtuned to Pythagorean instead of true harmonic intervals.

This is a jazz song sung in true Barbershop style.

  • who cares? its good!

  • This is possibly my favorite b-shop song of all time. It doesn't matter what mood I'm in and whether I'm watching this or listening to there cd, when this song is on, I'm happy!

  • lol it isnt barbershop at all though. i guess is it 4 part harmony but thats about it. lol i love it too. the tag is awsome on their CD

  • Well yeah, I know it's not really barbershop but on the cd it's at least a little more barbershop with Steppin' Out in the middle. But still, I just love this!

  • It is sung in the Barbershop style, even though the song isn't Barbershop (then again, there arent a whole lot of songs DESIGNED to be Barbershop — even the Tin Pan Alley songs werent!).

It meets all of the basic criteria:

    √ 4-part harmony (not 3, 5, 6, 8, etc.)

√ Highest part (Tenor) is RARELY the Melody (in vocal Jazz, etc., it USUALLY is)

√ Predominance of Barbershop-style ringing chords (Major Triads, Barbershop Sevenths, etc.) tuned harmonically

    √ Predominantly homophonic

  • this is THE movie that explains exactly why I love the barbershop genre. Too bad that in Belgium, it seems impossible to find more enthousiasts.. :)

  • Thank you so much for reposting... I saw this ages ago and it inspired me to join up... but could never see the clip again untill now... thanks

  • awesome:P

  • the beeping near the end was an on-key note...cool

  • Does anybody know the name of this song?

    Really love it!!!

  • Shine On Your Shoes

  • @ChikenHeart2 next question haha. arrangement?

  • I too, couldn't find the vid for a while. Thanks for reposting! Great toe-tapping song when wearing my happy shiny shoes

  • I couldn't find this video for awhile. Thanks for posting it. I love this group! I was sad Jeff left Acoustix, but I also love Max Q now.

  • Thanks for uploading. The Acoustix are amazing :)
