Whoever said "Jeff is a douche" IS a douche. Jeff is now and was then one of the best basses to be in the BHS. Obviously you don't know him or haven't met him cause he's a really nice guy
@tigermam4 When I watched "American Harmony", Jeff just wanted to be the best he could be. If aspiring to be your best is "whiney" then I guess your right. Frankly, I think Jeff can be a "douche" all he wants because he has a damn great voice to back it up.
this is my absolute favorite video on the internet. i love how they make everybody smile as they pass. they're spreading happiness. who wouldn't love these guys??
@Barbershop666 but why would security be such a bitch and ban barbershop? Its not like they have a bomb set for the last chord of the song that explodes when it hears the overtones....
@frostBuckle333 , if you watch the movie "American Harmony" he will quickly turn into a whiney little cry baby , and you`ll think...what a douche he is.
@frostBuckle333 Yeah, still, after 30 years, my favorite bass. He's hot. Yes, Jeff, still one of your groupies! And he's a nice guy too, as well as an incredible singer.
I love this. It's not really barbershop style, but the words, message, and tone really seem to fit the setting: singers walking around making people happy.
FWIW, that's not a subway, it's an airport Automated People Mover, similar to the one at Hartsfield-Jackson Airport in Atlanta (world's largest). In large airports with multiple terminals, it moves people quickly from baggage claim.
I don't quite recognize that airport, but they have them in London, Miami, Orlando, and Tampa.

just some bros who enjoy each others vocal company! who can blame 'em for diggin' it so intensely. they probably made out in the mens bathroom after this.

I'm sorry this really isn't barbershop. These guys used to be really great. Then, they decided that they didn't want to balance by ear and got their own microphones so they could each sing as loud as they wanted. Then, they stopped singing barbershop music in favor of vocal jazz, which is what this is.
I do know that they just wanted to blast it out. I sang with the original Acoustix multiple times on various chapter shows. Also, I go to Bowling Green State University in Bowling Green, OH where Oxley went to college and he comes around here a lot. He said that it was because for some strange reason he and Rick couldn't adjust to each other's volume very well. They were still good. BTW Max Q is good and he has just as big a head as they say he does in "Here's to the Losers"
This is not Vocal Jazz, except in the literal sense that the song itself is a jazz song and it is sung vocally.
Vocal Jazz is usually 5 or more voice parts (Take Six, etc.), often with the highest Tenor voice part carrying the Melody, with rare or non-existent homophony, sung with lots of non-ringable jazzy chords (11ths, 13ths, etc.), and even the ringable chords tend to be microtuned to Pythagorean instead of true harmonic intervals.
This is a jazz song sung in true Barbershop style.
This is possibly my favorite b-shop song of all time. It doesn't matter what mood I'm in and whether I'm watching this or listening to there cd, when this song is on, I'm happy!
Well yeah, I know it's not really barbershop but on the cd it's at least a little more barbershop with Steppin' Out in the middle. But still, I just love this!
It is sung in the Barbershop style, even though the song isn't Barbershop (then again, there arent a whole lot of songs DESIGNED to be Barbershop — even the Tin Pan Alley songs werent!).
It meets all of the basic criteria:
√ 4-part harmony (not 3, 5, 6, 8, etc.)
√ Highest part (Tenor) is RARELY the Melody (in vocal Jazz, etc., it USUALLY is)
Anyone know who arranged this? I'd LOVE to get this sheet.
