What I always liked most about this station ID was the background, and the futuristic NYC that might someday come true. Now if those idiots would actually BUILD those towers at the WTC site, it might begin to look something like what's in this video but I doubt that will ever happen.
aww! this reminds me of all of the full house reruns i watched in the mid 90's from the scranton/wilkes-barre market. i'd forgotten about this ID, which pretty much played somewhere before/during/after every episode.
there was 1 WPIX ID like this but it was 4 the WPIX's movie station with the same 11 logo but it also featured some 20th Century Fox look-a-like lights in the bakround & the music is like this but it is extended version.
Well DanDMan16, the 1989-1994 version to the 8 O'clock Movie bumper has more of a classical feel to it and it's in D-minor. The one from 1995-1998 or 1999 starts in G sharp and ends in A natural and uses the format as the former 8 O'Clock Movie bumper. The latter (at the end) gives you a bird's eye view of Lower Manhattan and plays the same theme as the News at 10 in A natural at the end of the bumper. I wish somebody had it so you can see what I mean!
I believe it was either just Channel 11 or WPIX Channel 11. Remember, before the WB started to exist in 1995, WPIX Channel 11 was an independent station.
Ah yes, I remember this ID. The prominent station ID of early '90's WPIX, up until the very last days of the "Circle 11" logo, thenafter the bland "11" logo debuted and very shortly after supplanted with "WB" for the then-new "WB11". All WPIX openings/IDs seem from this period seem to have been designed around the whole "CGI NYC skyline" motif. I miss "Circle 11". Thanks!
No need to worry no more. Starting in December, CW 11 will rebrand to its original moniker, WPIX Channel 11, and the most of all this, they are bringing back the iconic "Circle 11" logo.

This had a shelf life
It was doomed
The 11 symbol was used to tie in the World Trade Center as a symbol of New York

the rebranding happened today. Now they are WPIX 11 Home of The CW. Its kinda similar in styling to what KTLA and WGN uses.

The WPIX ID music opening is Similar to the Saturday Afternoon Cinema music, but there's a 11 second difference because it's a 15 second intro.

I wonder if this was the similar music to the 8 o'clock movie

I am glad that they mentioned that WPIX is a Tribune Broadcasting station.

...who later went on to do VOs for PAX/i, though one wonders how wise a career move THAT was. :-D

I was hoping that when WPIX became the CW Network, they would incorporate the circle 11 in to the logo. Wishful thinking on my part I suppose.
