The technology isn't ready but Nuclear power is very clean. Nuclear waste is containable and that says a lot.

Even the resource intensive production of solar cells is incredibly wasteful.

There are other options like hot ricks, wave and wind turbine energy, but none of them are close to nuclear. Coal is bad but it has equal potential.

That is why using a mix of energy sources is considered the best.

Not that I argue that weapons aren't made.

Most middle income homes can affor two cars these days! They can EASILY afford a solar array (solar cell array costs about HALF what a car costs & you get ALL your money back in savings on electricity bills)

In the UK it takes 7-8 years to get your money back but you still get it BACK!

People can easily afford a new kitchen or a car or a new swimming pool, so they can EASILY afford to provide their own power from a MIX of different renewable (& non-polluting) sources!

You'd still have a local small grid to guarantee continuity just MUCH smaller & less polluting than it is today!

Like all industrial processes, nuclear power generation has by-product wastes: spent (used) fuels, other radioactive waste, and heat. Spent fuels and other radioactive wastes are the principal environmental concern for nuclear power. Unless you want it dump in Australia or in India!
