If you are a decent player.. you can play any kit ...but ....a great skinned and sounding kit bring the player out in you ..for sure!
I am giving Pearl their new Catchphrase -
" Pearl Drum s - Brings the player out!" "Pearl Drums - Just add PLayer " , "Pearl Drums - Find the Player within !" , Pearl Drums - Release the inner drummer" , Pearl Drums - WE made the KIT ..You bring the HIT!"
Yes, Pearl Masterworks is Pearl's way of competing with DW's standard issue drums. DW is the gold standard! That's why all the pro's own at least on DW Kit. including the sound track by Joey Kramer! Word
anything I have ever purchased with a DW name on it, I have been utterly disappointed with. So annoying to work with. I will take Pearl anything over DW anyday. Niether one of them can touch Sonor drums though
@watergrass5150 I have a 14x6.5 Masterworks in Ref specs. I went that route so I could get the AMAZING custom finish I wanted. The drum is a BEAST! It's VERY heavy, and just sounds like a cannon. It has a really surprisingly wide tuning range, amazing sensitivity at all levels and is an overall AMAZING drum. You won't regret buying one! Unless there is a specific Ref color you already want, I suggest you consider going my route. Same price, with TOTALLY customizable finish. I LOVE MINE!!
@munkych33z Materworks is a custom drum series by pearl. You can put in an order form to make your drumset as unique as you want it, weather its colour, sound, thickness, or wood type, Pearl will hook you up with the masterworks series. The series are all professionally made drums to your specifications. Masters is another branch of drums that pearl makes that pretty decent but not the best in their arsenel.
Getting a 7 peice reference when i get the $10,000. Getting the whole Sabian Paragon Neil Peart Cymbal set and mounting everything on a pearl rack! :) Like a $10,000 deal though :( :( :( :( :( :(
@gibsongod15 Nice, man! u dont need to waiste money on paragon cymbals. I would go for HH reg. hats, AAX thin crash, HHX chinese of any kind, an AA splash, and an AA el sabor ride.

@DrumKiller2 I don't own one, but you can order one through your local store.

Where did you buy that rack joint (RJ-50)?

DW doesn't even make their own top of the line kits... That said, I like DW, I got a pedal of theirs, but they can't touch Pearl.

I'd love a pearl masterworks or reference four or five piece, that'd be a good gigging kit.
