im a sony gamer (PS3 PSP) but i did like some of nintendo's systems so i'm thinking of getting a wii, but before i waist any money i need to know about any disc reading errors system errors or in game gliches that are comenly found in the wii. so to any one who has a wii is the system worth the money?
Only reason I ever defended this game before was because I was corrupted by hype. 6/10 is pretty accurate, especially when the online is now currently broken. Even on the Wii, there are much better FPS's than this. If you want a good FPS on Wii, go get Call of Duty: Modern Warfare (Reflex edition) or GoldenEye 007.

As I do agree about some points about your comment, the conduit isnt bad but not great either. Its fun for a few hours and a week or so but it gets boring fast and compared to other games like ssbb or uncharted 2(ps3) I dont see the point in going back and playing the conduit...its just not that fun. If you could customize more than the controls for online...like weapons and stuff. That would have been cool imo.

I dont judge a game based solely on graphics. If a game has ps2 graphics but awsome gameplay i would choose it over a crappy with ps3 graphics. you know the only reason I have the wii is because when it first came out back in 2006, I asked my mom to buy for me for christmas because I THOUGHT it was going to be good. For a while I became a wii fanboy and whenever some trashed it on youtube I got pissed off and tried to defend. About 2 years after I got it I finally saw the truth. The wii was crap. After I finally realized this I saved up enough of my allowance money and bought a 360 and Halo 2.
@methaddict7771 I somewhat agree. I don't think the Wii is crap (it actually got quite a few great games this year, including GoldenEye 007, which I actually thought was much better than the highly anticipated Black Ops), but it definitely isn't as good as I expected it to be. I mainly got it because I THOUGHT that the motion controls would be super accurate, and I highly enjoyed Super Mario Galaxy when I played it at GameStop.
IMO, the Wii is okay, but the HD systems put it to shame.

Yes, a 360 ARCADE. But that's the bare basics, and you just get some XBLA games on a CD with it. The Pro is much better, but is $300, which is still more than the Wii, but it's definitely worth it. Just because a console costs less than another console doesn't mean it's generally better; it's what you get for the money. The Wii has quite a lot of cool things for just $250, despite its limitations.

I bought the Conduit and I liked it. It started out too easy, but then it got hard real quick. Even if it's not as good as Halo, it's still one of the best shooters exclusive to the Wii. If you don't like it, that's fine, but if you address your opinions in a review, people won't know for sure if that particular game is right for them, seeing how they're getting some mixed reviews and all. What I'm saying is, when doing a review, focus on the facts, not your own believes. Enough said.

It depends on what kind of gamer you really are. If you're a die hard core gamer then of course you'll find the games on the 360 better. But the Wii is for the casual and more family orientated market. And by the way, I like the Wii's innovative controls, but I still like me some nostalgia most of the time. Also, just like most people would agree, I also want the motion sensing to be a novelty and not a replacement.
I was getting into the story line until the Single player got really repetitive. Stopped playing at about the beginning of the 4th level. But online is definitely the shine that brings out the sheen in the game! It's pure awesome! I'd have given maybe a 6.5/10. Anyone wanna swap friend codes? 3738 7715 1826 is mine. I'm a pretty decent player. I've played about 6 online mathes and I've picked up pretty quick.

Try...playing it. By Wii standards, the graphics are fucking great! Even better...dare I say it....than Metroid Prime 3 in the graphics dept. Online is just as good. On any other system with archaic controls (360) it would be generic. But with the Wii's control scheme, it's a helluva fun game...online mostly.

really fair review, but I found taht the story was interesting, and listening to the main character tlaking to the other s in between levels was entertaining as well. of course secind time through, it loses its coolness, as you've already experienced it all before, as with ALL other FPS's. again, first time through I think the story was interesting and made me keep wanting to pregress further to see what happened next
Very nice review, and well-reasoned too. Personally, I loved the controls and enjoy the multiplayer, but then again the only FPS's I've ever owned were World At War & GoldenEye (I'm excluding the Metroid Prime series for obvious reasons), so FPS junkie I am not. It is VERY average compared to other systems' FPS's, though.
I haven't gotten this game (yet?) although a special edition did come out and now they're doing preorders for the regular version now that they're all sold out.
in that case... I wont even count that as a full release. Because not all of the orders came out on the same time/date. they came out on different dates. To me, a full-fledged release is when all versions of the game is out on the same date. Even if the standard version came out a month later, I will count the release date on the day the standard version comes out because at that time, all versions are out... you get what Im sayin.

The graphics look good.... by Wii standards. Hell, last generation console games like Chronicles of Riddick Escape from Butcher Bay and Splinter Cell Chaos Theory looked better than this. I'm still crossing my fingers hoping that someday the Wii will get a solid definitive FPS. But we have to keep on praying, lets hope Red Steel 2 doesn't let us down like the first one did.
I hope that Free Radial will make TS4 for Wii some day. Other then that, i don't expect a solid and great shooter for Wii. Red Steel 2 looks good of course, but where the hell is the multiplayer! That's just sooooo lazy. Ubisoft says that they needed this time to perfect the singleplayer. Well, take some more time to include a multiplayer as well Ubsisoft! GoldenEye had a awesome singleplayer...and a multiplayer too. Heck, almost every shooter on 360/PS3 have both single and multi.

I disagree with you on GoldenEye, it was great game for its time but it certainly hasn't aged well. I give it props for showing that FPS games can work on the console but we haver better console FPS like Halo, Resistance, and Killzone 2.

GoldenEye is classic masterpiece in every way. People keep talk about GoldenEye and there is a reason for that. If a game was 'special' back then, people will keep talking. Games like Ocarina of Time, Tomb Raider, Super Mario Bros..etc.
Hey! You forget some of the PoP games, both new & old (in line with platformers like Zelda games). But really, you're absolutely right! Games that were good back then are still good today. When people talk of games that haven't aged well, they're usually graphics whores. Real gamers base off from content and innovative experience. Golden Eye MADE the FPS what it is today. No question about it. Halo & the rest owe their very being to Golden Eye and to almost the same extent Perfect Dark.
GoldenEye did evolve the FPS genre for the consoles but it really wasn't THE first console FPS to work on the console as AVP, Disruptor, and Turok proved that before GoldenEye did.
I'm not saying ALL old games haven't aged well but there are plenty that did. The original Metroid hasn't aged well because there's no mapa and all the rooms look identical, but it was a revolutionary game for its time but other Metroid games after it done everything Metroid has done and refined it.
Not to mention that it doesn't really evolve graphics if a games hasn't aged well or not, Star Fox for the SNES is a terrible looking game today but the game is still fun to play. Same goes to a lot of old games.
All true points. As far as G.E goes, it may not have evolved the FPS genre, but it is basically the game that got the style going. It did what it's predecessors didn't quite accomplish, which was to provide a truer to life experience. Granted, Halo added a second analog stick, but even that has become outdated with the advent of the wii control & now Wii motion+. Again, as far as graphics go, that's minor to storyline. Yes, they enhance presentation, but truly they mean little.
The Wii controls are interesting and The Conduit proves that the Wii controls can work just as well if not better than the two analog sticks.
However I wouldn't go as far as saying that the two analog controls are archaic when it works just fine and almost every FPS on the console are using it.
While I hate doing this, let's bring PS3 into the mix. Even a hardcore system such as that has adopted (to a lesser extent) the wii control setup. No, not just the six axis controller anymore, but now a complete wiimote knockoff, the "wand." This just goes to show that directionally speaking, the simple analog setup is becoming somewhat archaic. It's still good for now, but by next gen...well...
Well GoldenEye's controls feel very unintuitive with the one analog stick. GoldenEye may have made FPS for the console {Even though that isn't really true since Disruptor and Turok proved that before GoldenEye} but the genre has evolved since then with the inclusion of Halo with it's intuitive two analog stick controls.
Plus, Halo is repetitive but FPS by their nature ARE repetitive and only a few aren't. You might as well criticize Doom and Left 4 Dead for being repetitive.

I agree with NeverChris. The graphics are nice..but not everywhere. Some objects have shiny or sharp textures while other things looke very washed out. The game is fun but not that exciting. I still rather play Timesplitters, GoldenEye, Perfect Dark, Halo or one of the Turok games. Speaking about Halo: even the first game have sharper textures then The Conduit. Halo's maps are huge..but bland and uses some textures over and over...but it still has a more solid feel to it.
The Conduit is a good game, but doesn't live up to the hype, which is disappointing. However, I think this game is the first right step towards making amazing first person shooters on the WII
OH yeah, Neverchris! About what you said about first person shooters about most of them starting with a tutorial. That never seemed to happen with the shooters I played. Then again, I've only played Half-Life 2 & Team Fortress 2.

Excellent review, although my points differ its pretty much how the game measures up. My biggest deal was high voltage blaring their hype horn over stuff that had been in use on this hardware since Rogue Squadron 2, BUMPMAPPING-OMG1011. Also could have tried a pinch more to not make it feel like Halo(down to the grunt squeals) meets national treasure.
I agree. Somebody needs to make a Lego Racers 3. It must be done! And it must be made by a professional game developer. Combining the elements of Lego Racers 1 & 2 along with some new elements. I love both games, so if anyone out there is interested in making another Lego racers game, do it now! Oh, and as for Lego Racers: The Video Game, that's based on the Lego Racers toys so it won't be a LR3 and I don't know if it'll be a commercial release. Oh well, hope to see it happen soon.

why is it that all the xbox fans cant accept a good wii game when it comes around. just throwing it out there, graphics dont make a game fun. I have both so dont mistake me for a wii fanboy.

you know the only reason I have the wii is because when it first came out back in 2006, I asked my mom to buy for me for christmas because I THOUGHT it was going to be good. For a while I became a wii fanboy and whenever some trashed it on youtube I got pissed off and tried to defend. About 2 years after I got it I finally saw the truth. The wii was crap. After I finally realized this I saved up enough of my allowance money and bought a 360 and Halo 2.

I don't think the Wii is crap (it actually got quite a few great games this year, including GoldenEye 007, which I actually thought was much better than the highly anticipated Black Ops), but it definitely isn't as good as I expected it to be. I mainly got it because I THOUGHT that the motion controls would be super accurate, and I highly enjoyed Super Mario Galaxy when I played it at GameStop.
IMO, the Wii is okay, but the HD systems put it to shame.

Yep, definitely. While it does notify you that you have new friend requests (which I believe you can accept, I don't know why not), you still need to enter those god-awful 12 digit things. Seriously, Nintendo, why can't you be smart and do stuff such as enabling firmware updates for the Nintendo DS Phat/Lite and having a CENTRALIZED NETWORK like what Microsoft, Sony have done?

dude I was saying that the current owners of a nintendo wii, who ALREADY OWN one, would only be losing $50 by getting the game, but to get a 360 at that moment in time would be $200 like you said. So all I was saying is that it is obviously easier to afford just this game than to have to spend a whole $200 getting the 360 and then some more to get Halo 3.

Yes, a 360 ARCADE. But that's the bare basics, and you just get some XBLA games on a CD with it. The Pro is much better, but is $300, which is still more than the Wii, but it's definitely worth it. Just because a console costs less than another console doesn't mean it's generally better; it's what you get for the money. The Wii has quite a lot of cool things for just $250, despite its limitations.

I bought the Conduit and I liked it. It started out too easy, but then it got hard real quick. Even if it's not as good as Halo, it's still one of the best shooters exclusive to the Wii. If you don't like it, that's fine, but if you address your opinions in a review, people won't know for sure if that particular game is right for them, seeing how they're getting some mixed reviews and all. What I'm saying is, when doing a review, focus on the facts, not your own believes. Enough said.

It depends on what kind of gamer you really are. If you're a die hard core gamer then of course you'll find the games on the 360 better. But the Wii is for the casual and more family orientated market. And by the way, I like the Wii's innovative controls, but I still like me some nostalgia most of the time. Also, just like most people would agree, I also want the motion sensing to be a novelty and not a replacement.

I was getting into the story line until the Single player got really repetitive. Stopped playing at about the beginning of the 4th level. But online is definitely the shine that brings out the sheen in the game! It's pure awesome! I'd have given maybe a 6.5/10. Anyone wanna swap friend codes? 3738 7715 1826 is mine. I'm a pretty decent player. I've played about 6 online mathes and I've picked up pretty quick.

Try...playing it. By Wii standards, the graphics are fucking great! Even better...dare I say it....than Metroid Prime 3 in the graphics dept. Online is just as good. On any other system with archaic controls (360) it would be generic. But with the Wii's control scheme, it's a helluva fun game...online mostly.

really fair review, but I found taht the story was interesting, and listening to the main character tlaking to the other s in between levels was entertaining as well. of course secind time through, it loses its coolness, as you've already experienced it all before, as with ALL other FPS's. again, first time through I think the story was interesting and made me keep wanting to pregress further to see what happened next

Very nice review, and well-reasoned too. Personally, I loved the controls and enjoy the multiplayer, but then again the only FPS's I've ever owned were World At War & GoldenEye (I'm excluding the Metroid Prime series for obvious reasons), so FPS junkie I am not. It is VERY average compared to other systems' FPS's, though.

in that case... I wont even count that as a full release. Because not all of the orders came out on the same time/date. they came out on different dates. To me, a full-fledged release is when all versions of the game is out on the same date. Even if the standard version came out a month later, I will count the release date on the day the standard version comes out because at that time, all versions are out... you get what Im sayin.

The graphics look good.... by Wii standards. Hell, last generation console games like Chronicles of Riddick Escape from Butcher Bay and Splinter Cell Chaos Theory looked better than this. I'm still crossing my fingers hoping that someday the Wii will get a solid definitive FPS. But we have to keep on praying, lets hope Red Steel 2 doesn't let us down like the first one did.

I hope that Free Radial will make TS4 for Wii some day. Other then that, i don't expect a solid and great shooter for Wii. Red Steel 2 looks good of course, but where the hell is the multiplayer! That's just sooooo lazy. Ubisoft says that they needed this time to perfect the singleplayer. Well, take some more time to include a multiplayer as well Ubsisoft! GoldenEye had a awesome singleplayer...and a multiplayer too. Heck, almost every shooter on 360/PS3 have both single and multi.

Actually Free Radical are now Crytek UK who are currently developing a TimeSplitters 4.
I disagree with you on GoldenEye, it was great game for its time but it certainly hasn't aged well. I give it props for showing that FPS games can work on the console but we haver better console FPS like Halo, Resistance, and Killzone 2.
Perfect Dark was WAY better than GoldenEye, that game was truly awesome.

GoldenEye is classic masterpiece in every way. People keep talk about GoldenEye and there is a reason for that. If a game was 'special' back then, people will keep talking. Games like Ocarina of Time, Tomb Raider, Super Mario Bros..etc.

Hey! You forget some of the PoP games, both new & old (in line with platformers like Zelda games). But really, you're absolutely right! Games that were good back then are still good today. When people talk of games that haven't aged well, they're usually graphics whores. Real gamers base off from content and innovative experience. Golden Eye MADE the FPS what it is today. No question about it. Halo & the rest owe their very being to Golden Eye and to almost the same extent Perfect Dark.

GoldenEye did evolve the FPS genre for the consoles but it really wasn't THE first console FPS to work on the console as AVP, Disruptor, and Turok proved that before GoldenEye did.
I'm not saying ALL old games haven't aged well but there are plenty that did. The original Metroid hasn't aged well because there's no mapa and all the rooms look identical, but it was a revolutionary game for its time but other Metroid games after it done everything Metroid has done and refined it.

All true points. As far as G.E goes, it may not have evolved the FPS genre, but it is basically the game that got the style going. It did what it's predecessors didn't quite accomplish, which was to provide a truer to life experience. Granted, Halo added a second analog stick, but even that has become outdated with the advent of the wii control & now Wii motion+. Again, as far as graphics go, that's minor to storyline. Yes, they enhance presentation, but truly they mean little.

The Wii controls are interesting and The Conduit proves that the Wii controls can work just as well if not better than the two analog sticks.
However I wouldn't go as far as saying that the two analog controls are archaic when it works just fine and almost every FPS on the console are using it.

While I hate doing this, let's bring PS3 into the mix. Even a hardcore system such as that has adopted (to a lesser extent) the wii control setup. No, not just the six axis controller anymore, but now a complete wiimote knockoff, the "wand." This just goes to show that directionally speaking, the simple analog setup is becoming somewhat archaic. It's still good for now, but by next gen...well...

Well GoldenEye's controls feel very unintuitive with the one analog stick. GoldenEye may have made FPS for the console {Even though that isn't really true since Disruptor and Turok proved that before GoldenEye} but the genre has evolved since then with the inclusion of Halo with it's intuitive two analog stick controls.
Plus, Halo is repetitive but FPS by their nature ARE repetitive and only a few aren't. You might as well criticize Doom and Left 4 Dead for being repetitive.

The Conduit is a decent FPS and at least it is more unique and less generic than Halo. The Conduit should've deserved at least a 7!

I agree with NeverChris. The graphics are nice..but not everywhere. Some objects have shiny or sharp textures while other things looke very washed out. The game is fun but not that exciting. I still rather play Timesplitters, GoldenEye, Perfect Dark, Halo or one of the Turok games. Speaking about Halo: even the first game have sharper textures then The Conduit. Halo's maps are huge..but bland and uses some textures over and over...but it still has a more solid feel to it.

Excellent review, although my points differ its pretty much how the game measures up. My biggest deal was high voltage blaring their hype horn over stuff that had been in use on this hardware since Rogue Squadron 2, BUMPMAPPING-OMG1011. Also could have tried a pinch more to not make it feel like Halo(down to the grunt squeals) meets national treasure.

I agree. Somebody needs to make a Lego Racers 3. It must be done! And it must be made by a professional game developer. Combining the elements of Lego Racers 1 & 2 along with some new elements. I love both games, so if anyone out there is interested in making another Lego racers game, do it now! Oh, and as for Lego Racers: The Video Game, that's based on the Lego Racers toys so it won't be a LR3 and I don't know if it'll be a commercial release. Oh well, hope to see it happen soon.
