  • thanks for this, i'm a complete windows person here and need to get a handle on the terminal commands for IS security, any other terminal videos would be a great help

  • What command do you type to clear the terminal screen? Like cls is for command prompt in windows.

  • @Pottsy1981 well I've learnt something myself today, I didn't know that! In Linux it's 'clear' :)

  • @staticCable HAHA what are you talking ? Ubuntu rocks and it very easy to use...

  • @staticCable Do you understand that this is only a more productive way to use Ubuntu? If a user of Ubuntu didn't want to try the terminal commands at all, they wouldn't have to! They could simply use the GUI (graphical interface, basically the desktop etc) to control it like you would Windows. It's not for everyone, obviously, like gamers. But why do you think it's terrible?

  • Great video, thanks a lot. I've tried to get into using Ubuntu a number of different times, but never knew where to start or what to do. Figuring out things in the terminal should be a good start.

  • isnt "Cat" just the best command ever?

  • whats the commands on ubuntu to see Physical address aka MAC?

  • Thank you very much for the explanations and for the quality of the video!

(other's are very small or blurred)

    ^_^

  • Ok. :)

  • i can't get into the "help folder at the beginning of the movie, it just says: No such file or directory.

    Using Ubuntu 10,10

  • @Baxtexx the 'help' folder I change into is one that already exists. It's just an example, use the 'ls' command to view what folders are in your current location that you can change into using the 'cd' command :) hope this helps!

  • @rainbowvein I get the same error but the folder I want to go to DOES exist according to "ls"command. What's wrong?

  • i can't get into the "helo folder at the beginning of the movie, it just says: No such file or directory.

    Using Ubuntu 10,10
