This is the best cover version here in youtube. Im applying this style the easier and forgiving way with my steel stringed acoustic, a little painful for the fingers but boy, its worth it. Thank you for educating novices like me. More power to you.
Wow, really beautiful. I'm going to try figure out what you did! i It would be great if I could get this down by Christmas... if only I could see those chords :-) Thanks for the beautiful music.
@jazzking66 Thank you. The sound is pretty much the guitar. It is the spruce top, which is very old, and very thinly built. I am using an Avalon VT737sp pre-amp right into the board.
@RussellJoshuaQuiazon Sorry, I never use tab, and I never play things the same way twice. I just don't have the discipline or time to make myself do that. I do have a couple of video series that if practiced, will help you figure out simple songs like this on your own, by ear. E-mail me, and I'll give you links.
@RussellJoshuaQuiazon the tabs are the third version on ultimate-guitar: tabs (dot) ultimate-guitar (dot) com/v/vince_guaraldi/christmas_time_ver3_tab.htm
@RussellJoshuaQuiazon I was saying "this" to the request for tabs (agreeing those would be nice).. and then adding to the poster a thanks for mentioning the type of guitar.
@Burtnernie I would have to learn it correctly first. I was just flying by the seat of my pant, and put it out as a Christmas card to my guitar builder. I never expected it to be well received, and I would not do such a sparse arrangement if I was preparing a video.
It will take time, but maybe I will arrange it for real, and do it next October, so that people will have a couple of months to practice. I use different chords than VInce, but I think a couple are acceptable for guitar.
@robbourassaguitarist -- I understand that it seemed sparse to you, but to me it was very satisfying and entertaining. I've loved that song since I was a kid. Any chance you tabbed that arrangement out, or better yet wrote down the chords? I'm learning guitar (self-teaching, after many, many years putting it off) and having a great time of it. I did find a vastly simpler (but still nice and jazzy) arrangement. I'd love to set the bar higher for myself, though!
Oh, that's a beautiful singing tone that instrument gives you, together with your nice fluid technique. Beautiful, nostalgic -- what a pretty, shimmering little coda too, like a light drift of new snow. I wouldn't even take the time to compare it to a piano rendition -- it's a different and equally moving performance

Thanks, I've begun to figure that out. What key are you in? I'm playing it in E and I'm getting it, but it is KILLER on the wrist. Some of these chord changes are crazy, but that's what I love about Gurarldi.
@pattyluss I'm in E. Yes, his chords are great, and a lot doesn't transfer to guitar well. I do it a bit faster, because the guitar doesn't have the sustain of the piano either.
@robbourassaguitarist If you don't mind, what are the 4 chords in the intro? I tried to emulate them from what I remember of Vince, and I just can't seem to get it.
@pattyluss I think you can buy the original sheet on this in any music store. I changed it to fit the guitar, so I was just flying by the seat of my pants, and trying to remember what I heard from Vince's recording, though I changed it up a bit.
your playing is beautiful. i was wondering if you had the sheet music to this. so i can share this beautiful song this holiday. haha. need time to practice practice and practice
