  • Probably only 1 of a few fast bowlers in the world that made the waughs look like tailenders, brutal fastbowling at its best.

  • that first ball from pollock.... ouch.....

  • this was about the time the poms decided to start poaching south africans lol

  • I remember this spell - watching this game a s a kid - I also remember the delivery that got Waugh out 1st ball after his 100 after Donalds farily lethal spell. You hardly ever see a player get out lbw for an outswinger - awesome delivery... So its been good to watch Hiffa in recent Aus vs India Test series get two bowled wickets with an outswinger

  • does anyone know approximately whats the fastest allan donald ever bowled in his career?? i have no clue...would high 140s be an accurate guess??

  • @MrRonsmagic

has been timed at 155.4 kmh

  • vicious

  • poor aussies had enough bodyline done to them

  • Softened up bullshit. Selfish Rodger scored another 50 after the 2nd new ball and Donald didn't take a wicket with it, he was a half yard too short and while it looked fearsome it was mediocre cricket.

  • Donald what a bowler!!!

  • It was a treat ... wonderful bowling by donald but not to mention waugh brothers defended their wickets for some time as well ... it was not easy to get them out ....

i really miss the grates like Donald, polack, wasim, waqar, warne, lara, ambrose, walsh, waugh brothers, ... all thime great

and finally ... wat a battng line up ausi had for this match

  • thumb up if you like Allan Donald's action

  • steyn will be bigger than donald!....Pace,SWing,Control

  • wasn't a tickle says the commentator :D

  • press 1. Wacky, wacky, wacky......

  • I really dont want to like Australian players because most of them are rude and they sledge a lot , but it's innings like these that it's hard to critisize them. Either it's Hostile spell of Donald against Wagh brothers or Shoaib Akhter against Ponting, some how they last against those spells for so long that no other batsmen in the world would last. It takes lot of bravery and that bravery always come from Australian cricketers.

  • Allan Donald was at his peak at that time

  • Fantastic footage, Rob. Isn't this the game Warne got his 300?

  • Richie's comment at the beginning: priceless. And Bill's comment: "That's why its called Test cricket, isn't it? He's testing him".

    Ferocious bowling indeed.

  • Hey rob, just wondering if you had any Ashes 2005.. was my favourite series of all time.. please upload as soon as possible I WOULD LOve iT

  • @domdude73 Theres a reason not much is on youtube, the ECB deletes it all instantly. I had uploaded a stack but its all gone. Uploaded all of warned wickets in one huge video, deleted in 30 seconds. BASTARDS.

  • @robelinda2 One thing always intrigued me Rob from Early 90s.. Why on earth is Mark EDWARD Waugh and Steve ROGER Waugh?? Almost everywhere i ve been they write Father's name as Middle name.... And they are Twins so should be sharing same middle name.. Can u explain??

  • @hardikvyas21 Edward is the name of their Grandfather which mark uses, Roger is their father which steve uses.

  • @hardikvyas21 Yes, twins/siblings don't share middle names. What would be the point of that? Simple.

  • @robelinda2 Give it a completely different title, leave the tags empty and then inbox us the title of the video but i guess that would be too much work to do so forget it:-)

  • @nauman93 INTERNET

  • @robelinda2 They won't stop showing it in the UK, it is STILL on most weeks.....

  • Donald and Pollock were as good as any other fast bowler of their time.

  • Wow wat a deadly spell.Dont know why Donald is not treated as all time greats.

  • @dheer1231 He is isn't he?

  • Allan Donald, just terrific - what athletics and grace, snappy delivery stride -beautiful. Its a wonder why he is always missed when counting greatest fast bowlers of the modern era. maybe he was not too consistent or maybe coz he dint focus on getting them out (just 330 scalps?) but bounced more..i dunno, but he looks too lethal here and against Atherton..good old test cricket, bring it on.

  • This a great spell of bowling. I remember this bit. Was at this match and I think the whole crowd clapped Donald for his great bowling. Typical Waugh brothers took the pain and both played good innings.

  • Hahahahah Richie Benaud at the start

  • the 2 dislikes are from the waugh brothers.

  • @pinjeeth nah probably tools who don't know good bowling when they see it

  • Classic Richie at the beginning :D

  • that was a classic piece of cricket.

  • @hhdd22011 I hope that was a joke

  • Best all-round pace bowler of last 50 odd yrs: Malcolm Marshall ( right handed) and Wasim Akram (left handed). Several other greats, some incredibly accurate like Hadlee, McGrath and Ambrose. Others master of pacy swing like Waqar, Donald, Holding etc. But none 've mastered every tenet of fast bowling like those two. Closest in modern era is Dale Steyn. And those who think pace before speed-gun inflated ego of Lee n Shoaib was 120-140 watch Thomson, Lillee, Holding, Waqar, or Tyson bowl sometime

  • my best bowlers (new era)...1. Mcgrath, 2. Pollock 3. Wasim Akram, 4. Walsh 5. Murali

  • @rajinuk1985 U have rated Pollock above Wasim strange.

  • @ranahasan24 Not sure why i put Wasim there. But as you can see Pollocks being always stingy and got good economy. Just for that matter. But as we all know Wasim's a legend and he is the king of swing! Never seen someone swing the ball like him.

  • @rajinuk1985 I have just check the stats u r rite Pollock 23.11 has better average than Akram 23.62 in test. But i personally rate Wasim Akram and Waqar Younis above Mcgrath because these 2 bowlers can swing the ball at high pace. Mcgrath have better accuracy and better average 22. But he cannot swing the ball like 2 Ws. Wasim nd Waqar were very interesting to watch inswing, outswing, inswinging yorker, toe-crusher.

  • STUART BROAD IS BETTER THAN MARSHALL U DWIB????????????

i hope odin strikes you with so much vengance that you get microwaved. all strong passionate cricket fans, please thumbs this comment up! it means that you like malcolm marshall over stuart broad......and it means u are not dumb and think that stuart broad is the best bowler.........LONG LIVE HOLDING'S OVER TO BOYCOTT!!!! down with sreesantch cuz he a faggot whiney bitch along with broad!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Hard to believe Steve looking that dodgey went on to make 85, truly terrible captaincy from Hansie.

  • dirty pommy! typical

  • The video doesn't really do it justice. I was 90 metres away about 10 rows back and I was shitscared.

  • steve waugh, and mark waugh...always highly suspect against quality short pitched pace bomling.

  • @heathirving Selfish rarely got out to the short ball, Mark Waugh was suspect against any kind of quality bowling.

  • dear rob,

sorry for arguing with others on this wonderful video....i'll stop

  • Nazi salute by Shaun Pollock at 6:41

  • What about Waqar younis? The reverse swing master

  • Rob, you still have to reply to my personal top five fav. bowlers:

    1. Donald 2. Marshall/Holding 3. Glenn 4. Akram 5. Warney

What you think? I know it could be better, but Glenn and Donald are too good to leave them out, ya know?

  • @dilkashh Yeah not bad, Andy Roberts for me should be in there. Donald was good, but he really struggled against Steve Waugh etc, i'd go for Ambrose or roberts over him.

  • @robelinda2

true ambrose and donald (in his prime in mid 90s) would be devastating for a dream team!

  • @dilkashh dont know when you started watchig cricket, but Waqar from 1989 to 1994 was the most devastating bowler, now Dale is in the same boots so far, thats why there strike rate is so close to each other at top two,

  • @bmwduran

Waqar's strike rate/average is nothing close to Marshall's in Test (which is real cricket). Hell, I would rather watch Akhtar in his prime over Waqar's banana's any day, just cuz Akhtar in his prime was so pacey and passionate. Akram swings the ball more better than Waqar.

  • @dilkashh WHAT? Waqar's SR nothing close to Marshal??? In fact Waqar has betetr SR than Marshall, 43.4 vs 46 in test cricket. In ODIs Marchal is nowhere near the SR of 30.5 of Waqar. Please check your facts before posting. Akhat was not half the bowler that Waqar was, he could turn the match on its head with three or four of those bananas and all the hard work of the opposition would go in waste. Ask Lara how he was floored with toes crsuhed. With Waqar you had to wear toe helmets,

  • @bmwduran

lara will tell u that mmarshall is better than waqar

  • @dilkashh HaHaHa, this is all you could come up with when your facts got exposed about Marshal being a bigger bowler. Marshal was a great bowler, no doubt, but Waqar was no less, Waqar could walk into any team in the World, especially he would have been an idol in Indian team, that lack any quality bowlers.

Bottom line WAQAR is a LEGEND, any one who thinks otherwise, either has jealousy, or lack techncial knowledge about cricket, so that person should not be positng comments on any cricket!

  • @bmwduran

dude, more than half the world would want akram over younis any day

  • @bmwduran

    1. What facts got exposed about Marshall being better? Personally, I would prefer watching ADon in his prime over Marshall's 'brandy' bouncers, but that is just a preference. Overall, MMarshall is a better bowler than Donald.

    2. Waqar IS A LEGEND! I agree with you, but def. not upon Waqar being a better bowler than Akram. Waqar had beautiful swing, but Akram was able to inswing, outswing, and reverse with the old ball.

    3. Allan Lamb bowled by Akram > Lara yorked by Younis ...anyday!

  • @dilkashh Akram. And i'm an aussie. In swinging yorker. Deadly.

  • @dilkashh What ?U left out Younis? Blasphemy!

  • @acidangelster

i think dale steyn is better than younis. sorry.

  • @dilkashh Old people, old choices. Ah. Murali, Kumble, Zaheer, Swann, Kaneria, Rampaul, are so much better and are no match for those 5. Except Akram, that guy had epic swing.

  • @WhatElseExceptNature

Are you saying the following things??????

    1. Kaneria (who got his career ended by Lara) is better than Warney?

    2. Ravi Rampaul from today's West Indies is better than Marshall yet alone Holding?

    3. Murali is ok...too overrated and a chucker imho. sorry to say though.

    4. Are saying that Zaheer is better than Glenny and Donald?

What are you trying to say? I can't understand your comment. You wrote names saying they are either better than ones i mentioned or not...idk :*(

  • @WhatElseExceptNature

you wrote "mural, kumble....kaneria, rampaul ARE SO MUCH better and are NO MATCH for those five except Akram..."

what do you mean by that, sir? Are they better or are they no match cuz you say contradicting things...maybe it was just a type but im so high from dank ganjika that im probably over analyzing everything. but, i pray to god that you were kidding if you meant to say that zaheer or swann or rampaul are better than donald , glenn, warne, or ambrose, etc.

  • @dilkashh No, Warne is really good too. But do you SERIOUSLY think Murali is not better than Warne and Steyn, Lee, Zaheer, Tait, Malinga and Broad not better than Glenn or those others? You must be joking.

The pace of the pre-2000 era: always 120-140, 'fast' bowling.

The pace of the 2000 era: always 135-155.

Not only the new generation has pace, they have swing too.

    Let's face it:

    Murali > Warne.

Lee, Steyn, Tait, Malinga, Zaheer, and Broad > all pre-2000 fast bowlers.

    Good bye

  • @WhatElseExceptNature

Dude, in one of your responses, you wrote Kaneria as a great bowler or mentioned him as one....I think you lost all respect from me and ardent - hard loving cricket fans that can honestly tell you the truth:

    1. Murali is a chucker.

    2. The pace of pre2000 is the nineties, ruled by ADon, bet you don't even know who I am talking about.

    3. The real fast pace was during the mid 70s - mid 80s. Thommo bowled faster than Shoaib. Get over it.

    4. Stuart Broad is not a good bowler.

  • @dilkashh I love your dreamworld. Sadly, I like reality better.

    1. Murali doesn't chuck.

    2. I don't keep track of old cricketers.

    3. You have any proof for that?

    4. Lawl. Coolstory.

How old are you, like 40 or something. Retard.

  • @WhatElseExceptNature

ROB. FUCKING BAN THIS MUTHAFUCKIN' ACCOUNT. I FUCKING DON'T WANT HIM NEAR ANY OF THESE VIDEOS. THIS MUTHAFUCKA SAYS HE DON'T KEEP TRACK OF GOLDEN CRICKETERS. YOU THINK I WANNA WAIST MY TIME TROLLING THRU YOUR VIDEOS AND CONVERSATE WITH THESE DUMB WITS FUCKING FAGGOTS???????????? ROB IF YOU ADORE MY INTELLIGENCE OF CRICKETING AND IF YOU RESPECT OLD GLORIFIC CRICKETERS, FUCKING PLEASE BAT THIS WHATELSEEXCEPTNATURE TWIG.......FUCKING PLEASEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!

  • @WhatElseExceptNature

dream world? u live in a dream world sucking justin bieber's cock. thinking stuart broad is a good bowler u dumb wit piece of shit cow piss cunt bag!. fuck you and your propaganda. murali fucking chucks so take a rib out and suck ur own dick u piss head!. secondly, you don't keep track of old cricketers? that just makes u dwib who doesn't appreciate good cricket when it is in front of him. i hope rob bans ur account from commenting here u faggot. also, thommo is faster.

  • @dilkashh Thommo is way faster than just about anyone to have ever played the game

  • @bulltiger18

nah. them bowlers prior to WWII used to bowl really fast.....

  • @dilkashh true

  • @dilkashh What about Lee? Steyn? Tait? Johnson? Bresnan? You must be crazy.

  • @WhatElseExceptNature

You're saying those five names for YOUR top five? OR....for top five bowlers of all time? If they are for all time....then YOU must be crazy.

  • @dilkashh WAQAR????

  • the white thunder as he was called by indian media , a great bowler

  • @pythagoras2010 The same could be said for when he batted.

  • what a spell..incredible fast bowling

  • Thanks robelinda! Nice collection and I am following ur videos over a long time. Big fan ..keep up the good work :D

  • @ robelina2, do you know the speed at which donald was bowling? 145-150 maybe? Thnx

  • DONALD BOWLING AVG. > MCGRATH, WASIM, WAQAR

  • That's a strange looking australian lineup- just three fulltime bowlers!

  • @77Fortran remember both Waughs still bowled at that stage. As did blewett (was clocked @ 140 in his prime and bowled regularly over 130) and bevan was the second spinner (and a good one!) So really was such a strong side.

  • Here in America, they have a way of ranking NBA players...you have your Hall of Fame, all time greats like Jordan, Magic etc, and then the 'Very Good' guys who were not quite Hall of Fame calibre...I would put Allan Donald in the Very Good category, on his day he could be devastating, but he failed too often in the biggest moments...Mike Atherton had the wood on him, as did Steve Waugh...heck even Shane Warne said as much when he made his ranking a couple of years ago. But very good bowler

  • @biafra4life no dud donald is hall of fame

  • Superb Channel, will surely recommend to my mates

  • Ah beautiful isnt it. The days before cellphones, playstations, flatscreens, internet etc Nothing better than watching a 5 day test match soaking up the slow painfull tension. Good times. I hope 20/20 dies quickly.

  • @brendonml Death to all 20/20 bullshit. Funny you should mention all that, I was just saying that to someone today, mid 90's- no mobiles, internet was shit, test cricket RULED!

  • @robelinda No mobile in the 90s? What were you teh poor?

  • @patricksname no coverage where i lived. no-one had mobiles until late 90's at best.

  • @robelinda Yeah, lots of people in your boat I was joking. I worked for a phone company in the 90s got my first (free) mobile in about 95/96 I think.

  • My god what a pleasure to view this clip, its like an orgasm really what a spell legendary stuff!!!

  • Donalds record against Australia lets him down a bit, he was a better bowler than that but never quite produced his best against us

pretty sure this was my first ever day at test cricket this game!

  • Pakistani here, I loved to see Allan bowl. Absolute joy to watch. What an amazing bowler. I wish some of these new bowlers have half of his aggression.

  • Mark Waugh plumb as. Good combination bowling I guess I'd have to say, with Donald's short stuff keeping Waugh on the crease and Pollack using the new pill wisely on a good length. These were the days when Test cricket was at it's best, when Australia and South Africa had all these awesome players and superb confrontations.

  • This is classic test cricket. I remember being at the SCG and watching this. Donald bowling with pace and movement, shortening up two of Australia's best batsmen of the 90's when they were in their prime. Great confrontation. The only criticism I'd have on Donald's bowling is that whilst it was fast and furious, there was probably too much short stuff, as Steve Waugh at the end of the day would wear a hundred balls in the back if it meant he wasn't out. And Australia won the test by an innings.

  • Nice one, Rob. Audio sync is great on the latest videos, so far.

  • @Lawlz0rz Yeah good so far. Seems to just plague videos for a few days, then I go weeks without encountering it.

  • 6:35 - It's as if M.Waugh was playing a half backward/forward shot in one go...

  • @Crkt4Eva He probably didn't know what he was playing. Hardly a brainiac. Also very over rated cricketer, there were plenty of better players in shield cricket during his career but he was not only from N.S.W. (almost instant baggy green there) he is Selfish Rodger's brother.

  • Comment removed

  • love pollock, copied his bowling action as a kid

  • 0:04 - Richie Benaud - "Hello there in China"

    aHaaa...
