@normnieman Actually, it wasn't illegal, there were complaints over its legality, but this in itself doesn't mean a thing other than some thought it was Illegal.
And what would America have done in WW1? I certainly don't think they would have stood a chance in hell against the Royal Navy back then, the war wouldn't have been won, just like the Americans didn't win it, would have just become a more tense stalemate.

It´s not only that we hold Europe together right now by paying EVERYTHING, Germany is also one of the few NATO-Countries that does not take part in military Actions as in Lybia for example. Recent studies show, that Germany is the nation that most people in the World think of has a positive Impact. (think of environment protection, employee rights...) WWI was caused by Germany forming into one nation, from many smaller states, and the largest one Prussia, called them all together. and as Germany built up its army, it became a threat to France, and with partnerships, when the arch duke was shot, every one jumped in. then the Zimmerman telegram got america into the war, after Germ broke a promise not to sink ships, and WWII is all Hitler

@aten747 what you said about ww1 is true, but that doesn't place the blame in german hands. iww1 one was a result of the european political landscape at the time, which germany happened to be a part of. they needed to keep sinking us ships, because the us were supplying the british, who had illegally blockaded germany, and the germans only hopes were to break that blockade. there is plenty of evidence in the form of telegrams showing the germans didnt want the us in the war

The sinking of the Lustitania was the spark, not the cause as such.
