  • Good video gunshows are a great market place.

I have heard the story about .45 being made to replace the .38spl for use of US military.

The year was 1905 that is a fact most the rest are just stories.

Whatever the reason was what a glorious masterpiece the 1911 was!

  • Sir i understand that this must be Gun show prices that you were showing on the video. But may I ask if alam nyo po ba current price ng SAM thunderbolt 2-tone ngayon? Kasi may friend told me that the latest price is close to 44,000 pesos? twice as much as the price shown in the video.

  • @nemesiocarigaba

Wow, that's almost double the price! I wouldn't be surprised though since that is a non-Gun Show price and it has almost been a year. Was that from a Shooters Arms (SAM) branch selling at that price? Many gun stores will take advantage of the price especially when the demand for the gun model is high (like the Thunderbolt for example). The price may have gone up but I highly recommend that you purchase in the next Gun Show this year (July). Price should be in the 20-30k range.

  • @TheAgeOfExploration where will this gun show be held? i apologize but i am all the way from Mindanao. Is the demand for the thunderbolt really that high? That may mean that the gun is reliable then? (forgive me for asking too much, but if it would not be such a hassle, i would like to ask your opinion if which 1911 i should buy. I am torn between the STI spartan and the SAM thunderbolt? and also is the thunderbolt in the video the latest one? (two tone with left side thumb safety only).

  • @nemesiocarigaba

Unfortunately, the Gun Show (Defense and Sporting Arms Show) is regularly held in SM Megamall, Mandaluyong City, Metro Manila in Luzon.

I think people caught on to the Thunderbolt because of the custom features it has loaded in the package (like the rail, magazine well guide, checkering, fiber optic front sight, etc. -- the attention to detail). Yes, that was the latest model.

In the PhP 40,000 range, you'll probably get a better value with the STI Spartan (SRP is PhP 45,000).

  • @TheAgeOfExploration tnx, i too believe that a Spartan is a better value for the money...since it has mostly STI internals, not saying that armscor's are bad, im just saying that STI is better. What i really like about the thunderbolt is the rail though, i dont care much for the other goodies that goes with it...if only they made the spartan with rails, and that would have been just perfect.

  • @nemesiocarigaba

    I agree. :)

If your favorite feature that you have your eyes on is the rail, you might want to wait a bit. Armscor released 1911 Tactical models with full-length rails. I believe they had rail versions on the A1 (single stack frame) and A2 (double stack frame) models. I haven't seen them for sale commercially here in the Philippines yet.

Check out the Rock Island Armory 1911 Tactical videos. I think Martin Tuason has a presentation video on the 1911 models.

    I hope this helps. :)

  • @TheAgeOfExploration havent seen any railed 1911's from armscor here in the Philippines...hope they come out soon, as I am a very impatient guy and would buy a gun in a heartbeat if i like it.

  • @nemesiocarigaba

If you can't wait for the Armscor 1911s with full-length rails, you can go for the Thunderbolt (hopefully at a much more affordable price) or another gun that suits your liking.

I strongly suggest you think long and hard about what purpose the gun will fulfill. Next, find a gun that "feels right" to you. It may sound weird but if the gun doesn't "feel right" or fit you, you most likely will be less motivated to use it.

Just my advice so you have no regrets after buying. :)

  • Good video. A salute to all the good people of the Philippines!

  • @Charlz9mm

Thank you for the kind words! Much appreciated! :)

  • 45acp was made for killing philipinos

  • @thehotsixer

Partly true but I think you need to do more research. Acceptance of the .45 ACP cartridge design was influenced by the Moro warriors during the Philippine-American war. Do a Google search on: "Battle of Bud Bagsak". If you want to know more, check out the history of the .45 ACP cartridge.

By the way, we're called Filipinos (not Philipinos). :)

  • @thehotsixer That's right! That's how bad-ass the Moro Warriors were. To this day, their descendants are proud.

  • Great vid

  • Thanks for the info.

  • good video! sir, i would like to ask is the medallion (black color) in this video is the same as in their website?is it a standard model?or different version?coz i'm planning to buy one. any inputs about the medallion standard? Thanks!

  • @21dimebug

    Thanks for the comment! :)

The Armscor Medallion (black) in this video is not the same as the one in their website. It looked like a prototype model and I am not sure if it will be part of the standard Medallion production line. Note the long / full-length dust cover on the frame, the rails as well on the frame (for lights, lasers, other accessories), and the strange-looking rear sight (I'm not sure if it has some sort of laser on it).

I hope this helps clear things up. :)

  • Hey man, I didn't notice you mentioning anything about Rock Island buying the old Colt machines to machine the 1911's. I was just wondering if that was actually true? I heard it on another video and just thought I would ask. Regardless the Rock Island 1911's are very awesome and very affordable guns. Thanks

  • @Th3R3GuLaToR

Hey man! Rock Island Armory imports Armscor's 1911s to the USA. Based on the Armscor (Arms Corporation of the Philippines) brochure I have, Armscor manufactures their 1911s in the Philippines using investment casting, Computerized Numerical Control (CNC) machines and traditional handcraftsmanship (gunsmiths).

I'm not sure where the information about the old Colt machines came from.

I hope this clears some things up! Thanks for the comment on the Rock Island Armory 1911s! :)

  • Good vid, pretty informative. Seeing a lot of these Philippine-made 1911's here in the U.S. and I'm hearing a lot of good things about them.

  • COPY THE FMG9, CAN YOU?

  • @theageofexploration:sir i love the firestorm 1911 a1 comander, what are the requirements of buying gun..and im here in pampanga did hann on the sm pampanga selling that kind of gun?

  • @TheNoy30

Good choice! :) I believe you were referring to the Metro Arms Commander (4.25 inch barrel length). The Metro Arms Firestorm is the full-size 1911 version (5 inch barrel length).

I don't think Hahn sells Metro Arms 1911s. I have seen Bersa, Rexio, Taurus and maybe some other brands.

Straight up answer for requirements to buy a gun:

    1. Age (21 years and above)

    2. Citizenship (must be a Filipino)

    3. Money

With these 3, the gun shop can help facilitate the other processing requirements.

  • Hello. First and foremost, Maraming Salamat for the very informative video. You have opened my eyes and really changed my mind about handguns made here in the Philippines. It has been many years since I have looked at Armscor, i thought they only had cheap 38's and cheap and inaccurate 1911's. I did not even know that shooters and MAC were made here. These may be a viable alternative to paying such incredible price increases on imported firearms, ie wilson combat for $1300 US vs 107k pesos here.

  • My biggest concern is, how do they shoot? With wilson, les baer, and other custom 1911's you can get very small groups 1.5-3 inch at 50 yds (from a rest). SO i am talking about mechanical accuracy, not how well the shooter can do. I am really just looking for something that can i can shoot tight groups with right out of the box without doing much to the weapon as you know the prices of parts here in the PI are also out of control and hard to get.

  • So to long of a story short, have you shot any (or all) of these and how do they group? Ever shot any from a rest and checked mechanical accuracy? I have my carry gun so this will just be a range gun lang. Again thank you for the video, hard to find this kind of detailed info and great job showing the prices. I would much rather spend 50k than 100-200 for a range gun and spend my pesos for a Pinoy made product instead of supporting other countries.(but i demand accuracy) Ingat

  • @73Corbin

Thank you for the kind words. Salamat po rin.

I sent you a detailed message addressing your concerns. Please check your inbox. :)

These 1911s made in the Philippines are a great value based on my experiences and on the feedback of other users. They do have their limitations though.

  • @73Corbin RIA has gained a cult following here in the United States, and you should search youtube, or even google for reviews for their line of 1911's. Most reviews coming from American followers are favorable.

  • What a great country. i love the Philippines. even though they tried to kidnap me in davao. great people and even better women!

  • does any Danao gun maker produce MG-42 machine gun? i would love to go the Phils. and buy a copy of the German MG-42 machine gun!

  • @MrSweetpeach81

I have not been to Danao yet so I can't give you an answer. What I heard is that if you can provide the gunsmiths over there a gun (ex. an MG-42), they can pretty much copy it. However, the quality of their metals are not up to the standards of the big manufacturers like Armscor, Shooters Arms, or Metro Arms Corp. The big manufacturers import their steel and have sophisticated machinery (ex. CNC machines, etc).

Also, belt-fed machine guns are not legal here.

    I hope this helps. :)

  • @MrSweetpeach81 don't bother to come to danao.gunmakers there were on close watched.police often raided the factory.i don't know with the durano's factory.

  • PINOY ROCK!

    doolingsquadito

  • Great info, im looking at a metro arms 1911. I really like it compared to the para and the ria i handled.

  • @tyte90

Thanks for the kind words and the comment! :)

Good choice! Among the Philippine-made 1911s in the video, the Metro Arms 1911 has the highest quality based on my personal experience.

It also costs considerably more affordable than the Para Ordnance 1911s over here in the Philippines. I'm not sure if the same goes for you.

  • Great vid!

  • NORINCO 1911 A1 with WILSON COMBAT and STI parts is the BEST!!!

  • @Angelofdeath8088

Norinco 1911s are made in China.

I've heard a lot of good feedback on the Norinco 1911s (+1 for you). The stock set-up feels a bit crude (rough finish with some sharp edges) but many Norinco 1911 users seem to really love them. They seem like a good 1911 option considering their affordability along with the good feedback.

    Thanks for the comment! :)

  • Two things:

    1) I just about panicked upon seeing the prices before I realized they were in pesos.

    2) Having grown up in America and our gun culture, it's a bit odd hearing Tagalog at a gun show. =)

  • @RayDequina

Haha! That's just the way it is here. :P

Thanks for watching! I hope the video was interesting. :)

  • @RayDequina The Philippines is a very gun-loving country :)

  • @Paulmarti Of course, Pinoys are a very smart people. Not given to the fear mongering people stateside are so used to hearing.

  • @Paulmarti we should, we still have insurgents.

  • @Paulmarti i know ! when i was six i shot my first gun in my backyard its super fun!

  • @Paulmarti nope the philippines is a very very very very very very veryc gun-loving country

  • I bought a Sam elite in 9mm for my first handgun ( can't have 45s here ) and have been very happy with it, it's not showy as I didn't buy the stainless one, but the frame to slide fit is awesome and it's plenty accurate

  • @cladam81

Thanks for sharing your feedback and experiences with your S.A.M. Elite! That's good to know! :)

  • is a shame that other countries less developed than my country mexico manufactured so beautiful and sophisticated weapons and stupid just because our laws forbid us why the good citizens of Mexico are at the mercy of organized crime

  • hey bro nice video, its me TACTICALGUNNER, hows the fit and finish of the crusader made by sam? and also the MAC amigo? have you heard that MAC fa are made of FORGED STEEL slide? you may want to add it up to your list. have a nice day bro.

  • @PISTIkawUTUBE

Hey man! In my personal experience and opinion, the fit and finish of the Crusader made by S.A.M. is pretty crude. The finish looks like Parkerization. The edges felt a bit sharp. I was impressed with the model and price though. It's like a Para Ordnance P-12 clone.

The MAC Amigo had a better, smoother finish and feel. Its price is higher though. I didn't know that MAC 1911 slides were made of forged steel. Thanks for the info! :) The quality of the Metroarms 1911s do feel higher.

  • @TheAgeOfExploration

i might get one MAC amigo nxt year but it seems that they cater much on their international buyers than us their fellow countryman, i recently inquire about their items but they told me its out of stock on local areas! hmmp! have a nice day bro, i may end up on our dearly beloved armscor FA's. i'am getting an MS PS 9mm.

  • @PISTIkawUTUBE

If you're thinking of getting the MAC Amigo, I would recommend that you handle it (unless you already have) and get a good feel of it. It's an Officers-size 1911 (3.5 inch barrel, compact/Officers frame) in .45 ACP. The price is on the high side though: P32,000.

I think you'll find the Armscor 1911 MS PS 9mm very attractive. One thing you'll like is the affordable price (P16,800) in comparison. The MS PS is a Commander-size 1911 (4.25 inch barrel, standard/full-size frame).

  • @PISTIkawUTUBE

Thanks for sharing your experiences and insights on MAC (Metro Arms Corporation)! :)

It's sad to hear that. :( I also heard from S.A.M. that they are prioritizing their orders for international buyers. Usually, there are some allotted units for the local market.

WSC (the booth that had the MAC Amigo on display) was selling interesting models in their booth in the last Gun Show (July 2011). Aside from the MAC Amigo, I have never seen the Bobcat 1911 model before.

  • @TheAgeOfExploration

Nice review bro, just asking, the price for the SAM Titan was it really 16K+ or is it just a promo price, because here in the province it's quite expensive. I was interested in buying one together with my friends here, we'll be much oblige if you could recommend where we could buy it at a price reasonable like waht we've seen on your video....

    thanks...

  • @71rikimaru

    Thanks! :)

The Gun Show price of the S.A.M. Titan was really 16k (as seen in the video).

SRP (Standard Retail Prices) or "non-Gun Show prices" are really high even here in Metro Manila. :( I have been to several gun shops and most of them add a high mark-up ("patong"). I learned this the hard way.

Based on my experience, the lowest prices I've seen are really at the Gun Show. Even the License/Processing costs are lower.

Other than that, you can try to look for promos in your area.

  • Great video, thanks for sharing. I am leaning more towards the ATI version. What do you suggest?

  • @droplano

    Thanks for the kind words!

If you're leaning towards the ATI (Shooters Arms Manufacturing, Inc.), the models that caught my eye were the Titan (a compact 3-inch barrel 1911, more for concealed carry) and the Thunderbolt (see 7:11, a full-size fully featured 1911, 2-toned, with rail). Feel free to pick what suits your needs and preferences. I would recommend you pick up some models in your area to get a first-hand feel of the guns then decide from there.

    I hope this helps. :)

  • What handgun would you buy out of the three? Armscor/Shooters/Metro Arms why? Please give me your opinion reliability, durability, worth for its price. You can add my FB account thanks BRO...

  • Look ,you want a GREAT & DEPENDABLE M1911? I bought a Metro Arms"AMERICAN CLASSIC II" M1911. It has ALL the bells and whistles that the HIGHER END pistols have, Kimbers included...,ALL of them. The fit ,finish & reliability of this gun is OUTSTANDING! . It is made in the Philipines and it costs..............................$420 BRAND NEW! Google or Youtube one and you will see. My son LOVES mine and went and bought HIM one:) ACII /M1911 45ACP

  • @HerbWalker

Hey man! Thanks for sharing your feedback on your Metro Arms 1911 (American Classic II)! That's great to know. :)

  • Great videos! Im planning to get a 1911 as my first gun. First for shooting, second for protection. Based on some videos i've watched, I have three manufacturers in mind: Norinco, Armscor, and Shooters. Can you give me your best pick and also the model for a beginner like me? I also need to consider my budget :)

    Thanks, man!

  • @deadmantwice

Hey man! Thanks for the support! :)

I'll send you a message regarding my thoughts on the 1911 as your first gun. Please check your inbox. :)

  • @TheAgeOfExploration

Thanks! Got it, you rock buddy!

  • nice job!

  • @arnoldm101

Thanks man! I appreciate the support! :)

  • very educational, thanks for sharing that.

  • @TheMinisterofDefence

You're welcome! Thanks for the kind words! :)

  • Wow! I didn't know that MAC is also a Filipino company. I've seen their FA's on American youtube channels and websites. Good job with researching.

  • @mykel031786

    Thanks dude! :)

If there are any corrections, feel free to point them out. :)
