However, the biggest destroyers of the Hampshire Avon were the Environment Agency and Natural England up until the end of 2009. If you take time watch the link to my vid 'The Legal Destruction of the Hampshire Avon' part one, you will see what i mean.Part 2+3 will follow. Please watch as it will show what really goes on, and it ain't nice.
This is done for salmon comfort fishing to rid the habitat of cover and not salmon ar any type of conservation. The EA/NE give them consent to damage and destroy the SSSI/SAC species and the wildfowl protective habitat. I have the footage of this also where it is carried out with high powered motor boat with a heavy chunk of metal thown over the back on a rope and dragged for 1.5 miles up and down the river for 3 days!
Interestingly, there seems to be a massive hypocricy at North End Farm. They actually weed cut and dredge the length, destroying the established macro invertebrate colonies and coarse fish habitat. By weed cutting, they are destroying the SSSI/EU protected Ranunculus weed growth which provides sanctuary and cover for salmon, salmon parr and all riverine creatures. ...More to follow below or above....
We had planned to paddle the Avon when we visit Fordingbridge this spring but I will not bother now.
We have paddled the very nice 25 mile stretch on our own River Avon from Evesham to Tewkesbury this year without incident & in fact most people who see us say hello or wave. This includes the many anglers that fish this stretch too. The wildlife is flourishing & the fishing is good too.
The chap in this video with the fishing rights needs to come down here to see how well we all get on !!!
canoeistst dont damage the river at all and if you actually let us paddle the avon then the wildlife will soon get used to it and just not pay any attention in the end. Fishermen are doing alot more damage to wildlife than kayakers leaving all of their fishing wire in the trees and in the river for the birds to get suck in. we have to share our natural rivers and you need to not be so selfish!

Parasites demanding something for nothing.
If you want a stretch of water to play in your little boats, try buying or renting just like anglers.
