@denmyos well...getting close works for some but my sparring partner is a strong clincher. in fact, that's what I did last week. I just close the distance with the bear hug and she was able to outmaunuver me and pushed my neck to the side and my body to the opposite side (just like the first drill that Kru Jasper did in here). So it doesn't work. the best way will be to be a better clincher and stand toes to toes with her, that way I can learn too ;)
@denmyos Kru Jasper loves clinch and sweep...I'm hoping I can represent his style. I start to develop upper body muscles to develop strong clinch (he gave me weight routines). I am just not skillful enough at this point to apply techniques in sparring....in due time, I hope it will come instead of giving up. I know many people esp girls don't like clinching because it's sticky and some girls say "eww...gross". Not to mention, we might wake up wtih stiff neck the next day too :D
@denmyos yeah like Kru Jasper, he trains the heavy weight fighters and he can sweep those guys easily. He also has strong stance...I'm thinking it's because he has judo background too. I noticed in the class, people with judo background are hard to sweep....like their feet are planted on the ground during the clinch. I almost tore my shoulder trying to sweep this judoka.

i teach "my" students to get close to each other to avoid the knee.
We have some female students who don't like clinch, as they say " something gets in the away"
