  • well, im no historian, BUT normally in the new england area, houses that were build like that with the feild stones were far older than 1800s, usually 1700s, or, if you could do the research , im pretty sure earlier - deff 1700s tho as opposed to 1800s. new paltz as you may know has a whole community of those houses, resotred and in use. its fun to know what the early setterls did and had in mind and how they lived.

  • the early settlers would make there houses look as much like the ones back home in england i think and most would be stone it lasts longer than wood and i think they knew that and also stone doesnt burn and that would be in there minds too
