  • Wasn't there also another laser tag show...2 dragons are something like that.. it used to come on the same channel as swans crossing...?

  • @FTLsFINEST You might be thinking of Captain Power.

  • God does this ring back memories

  • The Costumes were Designed by People who worked on Super Sentai and Other Tokusatsu Programs in Japan.

  • Clips from this aired during the super mario brothers super show! I thought I imagined this too!

  • I very vaguely remember the toy commercials. Another Laser Tag rip off. Never saw the show.

  • @darth375 No Photon came first. It was Lazer Tag that was a rip off of Photon.

  • I'm Bodhi Lee, Photon Warrior and this show is photonated.

  • wow i had forgotten all about this till it just popped into my head..

  • I thought I had dreamed this in my childhood

  • @Imac619 Holy shit you just took the words right out of my mouth! i seriously thought this was a figment of my imagination until i found a photon beach towel at my parents house the other day haha! when i looked at the picture on it it came rushing back to me. insane!

  • When I was a kid I thought the was the coolest TV show. But wow, it's really cheesy! But I still think it's cool.

  • i used to wake up mad early when i was a kid to watch this! it disappeared real quick though and i had to resort to watching Laser Tag... the best was when the Mario Bros, show used to air clips of photon between segmants. this is awesome. they need to bring the series to dvd!

  • I loved this show it was good when it was on tv but I would love to see it on dvd so I can watch it all the time and if is not on dvd can someone put back on channel 11 wich is now know CW I would to see it agan just like it was in the mid 1980's please. from Edwin Laino

  • @edster316 I tried actively to get the current owner of the show to do a DVD of the shows episodes. Seems that even the cast was surprised to the interest too. Just to mention here - some of the actors & actresses are still in show business.

  • I have the whole series and it appears much better than this version. Even have the last episode where we find out Mandarrs fate. The series is still under heavy copyright protection so I won't share it here as yet. Only a select few of us old diehard fans have the series. I held the oldest webpage dedicated to the show until I had to change webserver sites. Will be putting it back up soon.

  • @sidereuslyric: Dude I feel your pain! For years I have been trying to remember the name of this show as well as get my friends to remember it. I would tell them" Do you remember the channel sufer show? Guy had this big ass colorful remote and would change the channel to Super mario, zelda, power team, and some damn laser show where they had to shoot a crystal ball to make a planet good or evil" lol. If not for the thumb nail of part 4 i might have skipped past this.

  • Is THIS the beginning?

  • Funny, I used to wake up at 5 AM on Saturday just to watch this.

  • I think this show is the earliest memory I can recall.

  • I believe this is real, and not a show.

  • damn i saw this as a little kid,now i finally know what the show is called!thanx for uploading, now i can sleep at night..XD

  • wow reminds me of my childhood...

  • loggins?????

  • Man, I freakin' remember this show when I was a kid! My brother and I would get up at 6:00 AM to go down stairs while everybody else was still sleeping and watch it. Bhodi Li, Mandar, MOM, all look cheesy now but ruled back then. I miss those days.

  • @NuclearFurniture1 - I thought I was the only person that ever watched this, hjahaha.

  • @xxoxia: you?! Now that I remember the name I'm sooo happy I can finally show my friends that I didn't make this up lol

  • does anyone have the intro to photon?

  • This show is so 80s cheesy classic that it's not funny. :-) I have a bunch of eps and might be posting some too. Isn't it great that when we watched it back then, we thought the effects, acting, voices, stories, action, music, etc... were all great! (for those of us who DID watch the show back then)

  • Bhodi Li is god

  • i dont know if this was mentioned because i aint looking threw all the comment but for those of you who dont know photon was the original "lazer" tag. it was the 80's version of paintball for several years. my town had not one not two but five photon arenas lol this show is great if you look at it for what it was and advertising gimmick, plain and simple. "captain power" took this idea and very succesfully ran with it.

  • This burned my eyeballs when I first saw it on TV. I wish we could forget crap like this. And somebody's doin a Kenny Loggins Footloose cover.

  • If there's ONE show that truly earns it's share of gold in the Bargain Bin of Oblivion... it's PHOTON.

  • and the closing credits for photon

  • Wow, this show's not bad...it's SHIT

  • I had the photon shoes!

  • thjs show is a frickin' genius! god it is bad; but that is good, and so bad. why did they choose footloose? that was even out of date back in 1984 when the movie came out. but i can't tempt the gods, they know what is best on how to make the most awsome bad television. thank the gods for that!

  • Ive been looking for this OMG!!!!!

  • I know right?! I knew I wasn't imagining this! Wait till I show my brother!

  • does anyone know where i could get a dvd or video of this series?

  • I never liked laser tag the cartoon. I missed this show. Even though teh effects and stuff are pretty cheesey compare to now. Still miss it though.

  • Where can i see the intro for this show??? i desperately wanna see it again...

  • i loved the show though and it's heavy metal pop music.

  • Also, when I played the game at the photon center there was no handshaking. The seasoned veterans highfive each other and went to their side of the arena.

  • When i visited California back in 1987, as a kid I went to the fountain valley photon center. It was pretty hardcore at the time with seasoned veterans of the game on one side vs us newbies. I gather that most of the veterans of this game play painball competitions now.

  • This is far better than CS.....gets the heart pumping.its a wonder kids nowadays are mostly overweight...

  • There was a series based on a post apocaliptic scenario. It had 2 early CG animated robot villains. Does anybody remember what it was called?

  • Did anyone ever go to the photon center to actually play?

  • Yeah, I used to make a monthly trip to the Photon Center in Fountain Valley, CA.

  • Damn this takes me back!! I have been looking for this and trying to buy the episodes on dvd too. Fuck Power Rangers...Photon Warriors are the shiznit. (LOL)

  • wow... I was looking for this for so long...

there was a toy for this and I wanted it so bad.. But it was too expansive for my mom to buy... "SAD"

  • betcha..YOUTUBE is great..how bout other episode of this series.

  • Youtube is great! NOBODY I KNOW REMEBERS THIS SHOW!! Yet here it is! You can find anything on youtube! Anybody remember Small Wonder!

  • This show used to come on real early in the morning on Saturday on Long Island...I watched this and Laser Tag

  • Yeah, Here in Los Angeles, we have many Japanese Markets with video rentals that carry old TV programs. One store has Captain Power too. It's a bit a drive to rent it but I drive a lot anyway. I wonder if I can find Photon somewhere.

  • This film will need some major work for DVD release. Japan might have the whole show on vhs.

  • or the English, i've notice they still air old 80's shows and cartoons on special cable shows or they have them on DVD

  • @atomicbunnygirl They actually shot the show like a japanese animation where all the voices were dubbed or added in later. Some exterior shots were done in California, like Bohdi's home and family and the Photon center, but all the studio filming was done in Japan with famed costume actors and directors.

  • Why would it need "major work" ? I'm sure DIC's masters arent atrophied to the degree that they need re-mastering or something.

  • Film deteriates. Remember Starwars: A New Hope? The picture was all blue, when it was removed from the vault. So it had to be remastered. You're thinking of video DVD which is much cheaper. But then again, old video tape get stuck.

  • Everything is on digiBeta tape today - it's stored digitally.

  • That's today.

  • @kikaijin DIC owns the show - they want so much mony for it's licensing, it'll never see light of day on DVD... I've tried to license it twice.

  • omg I so remeber this lol I had photon it was so hott

  • Photon Ho? At 2:16????

  • play ya for your mega pin now or later?

    Jungle Boy

  • ill take you on jungle boy..

    zdoc with destroy you

  • what the fuck did I just see????

  • lol

  • I was a Mega Warrior in Tulsa...no one could deat me!!

  • Thank you so much for uploading this!

  • I used to watch this Saturday mornings on channel 11. It was a goofy show, but fun!

  • A friend of mine appears at the 54-second mark: Red team, pointing at camera.

    We still tease him.

  • Loved this show when I was a kid. Can't remember what age. Maybe 10 or 11 years old. Glad it was posted. Brings back mememories. Feel like a kid again. Haleuah!

  • Great post. Thanks!

  • I think this was on at like 8:AM on Sun morning by me. God knows how I got up that early to watch this, but I loved it! especially when the bad guys get shot and their holograms explode. I actually thought the special effects were great. haha

  • i never realized how cheesy the stuff you used to worship as a kid was.

  • No MOM!! I'm Bodi Lee Photon Warrior!!!! This is beyond crap or shit. I wonder if there is a stronger word for shit. Because this show would fit the bill.

  • I get it their playing photon why do we need to spend like 2 mins establishing it?

  • Because it was also a commercial for the game, silly lol

  • Oh man! I used to watch this show on saturday mornings way back in the day. It would be the first thing that came on the station for the day right after they would play the Star Spangled Banner. Even though it is really cheezy by todays standards I use to love it when it was on.

  • I've been trying to find tapes/DVDs/clips of this show for years; pity that the person who put them up here has such a lousy attitude toward the show; makes you wonder why they bothered to even preserve the footage.

  • OMG, this was my favorite show when I was like 6... even back then I thought it was the weirdest thing I'd ever seen. XD

  • haha wow.. that was painful to watch. and to think i thought captain power was campy for its day, it's got nothing on this.

  • The only bit of real "camp" (look up what that term really means, I think you'll be surprised) ever seen on this show was an episode in which Lord Beathan (the robot) disguised himself as a woman for a bit of undercover work.

  • WHAT! Did that nerd kid just call the moniter/computer "mom"? Weird shit, but AWESOME.

  • No, he called the computer M.O.M., which was an acronym, though at this remove I don't recall what the letters stood for.

  • Just looked it up: M.O.M. stands for Multiple Operations Matrix.

  • Oh My God!!! It used to be one of my favourites during those hairless days. Never forgotten. But did'nt remember how cheesy it was. Ha ha. Loved it back then. Thanks atomicbunny girl. You contented my brain.

  • I swear people would look at me funny when i was trying to explain this show to them. Now I know that they suck, and I wasn't going crazy at an early age, lol.

  • We used to play Laser Tag back in the late 80's and I even went to a Photon game center in New Orleans. The fad died out pretty quickly. Paintball is much better.

  • There were Photon Game centers back in the late 1980's. It was like Lazer Tag. They had a two level game arena to play in. The location used on the TV show was in Fountain Valley in California.

  • I've been looking to see an episode of Photon since I read a review of the show in X-Entertainment. Just as a cheesy and great as I imagined. Thanks for sharing!

  • I recall watching this in 1989. There is a sense of nostalgia now. Anyone knows where this can be bought now? In VCD/DVD format?

  • Seriously, if anyone knows a source for these episodes, out with it! :)

  • DIC owns them...

  • No where, unfortunately. I doubt it would sell anyway.

  • I don't know about regular retail, but rest assured, at a comic book/media convention, it would be snapped up like hot cakes.

  • It wont happen. I tried again, to get it for that exact purpose - a run of a couple thousand copies for us geeks - not interesting for DIC, unless they'd get $70.000 for the rights.

  • Maybe Microsoft can get it's hands on it for the the 360 download.

  • They are building a Photon in Oklahoma City. I can't wait till it opens. I have never gotten to play Photon.

  • Yeah, there were Photon Centers and plans for more but it didn't go anywhere. Today we still have Lazer Tag without hiding and ducking.

  • Actually the craze died down. In part due to an accident that happend in Los Angeles where a kid playing WOW Lazer Tag was accidentaly killed by a police officer while playing at night. WOW started to tank in the sales dept and the market all but died. Photon tried to hang on but its technology started to become obsolete and arena laser tag took a hiatus.

  • interesting, hm that's almost the same thing that happened to PeeWee, if the law gets involved sales go down, wow all are toys and shows are such law brakers, cool

  • Well in addition, Lazer Tag went a major overhaul in the arena circuit around the mid ninties. Qzar emerged and used real lasers in its equipment making for more exciting game play. This would soon spark the trend that is common in most lazer tag centers today. XPLasersport in Laurel MD is the last Photon center around. Because the name is licensed they are not allowed to call themselves Photon.

  • Oh yeah, I remember that, it was all over the news.

  • Photon. A.k.a., Ghetto Laser Tag.

  • There was 26. This was a part of the wave of tie-in shows in the 80's.. toys with their own shows. This photo arena franchise had it's own show -- i remember being riveted by this every day, as a kid in the 80's..

  • According to the Toyarchive site there was 26. There also another site that have the episode list.

  • 26 episodes actually. I remember watching this show.

  • no way! the sites say 13 episode cuz it was so bad....well i guess it must be true cuz i can tell you straight up i was like 5yr or something when this thing came on, my older bro use to look at it

  • Maybe some stations canceled it and it kept airing elsewhere.

  • can i cry now? i don't know if i have seen anything this lame

  • For this show, I think they had a budget of $11 and access to the director's friend's son's lazertag equipment.
