Your upper body has a nice springy quality to it, but your leg movement just seems jerky and unbalanced. Try sinking lower into your stances and allow a pause between repetitions.
I really like your use of the waist and legs to generate power. A lot of youtube tantui seems to have very little power expressed. Technical improvements (that come with time and practice) aside I think your Tan Tui could actually hurt someone!!! :)
You absolutely have the best tantui I have ever seen. The way it's meant to be done imo.
The only thing about your structure from what I can see from other clips as well is that you tend to raise your chin a bit when punching. That would be the only obvious opening in your form that can be easily exploited. Other than that, I would not want to face you in a dark alley. :)
I have done 3 different versions of Tan Tui, one in Chinese Kenpo (12 parts), one in Shaolin Long Fist (12 parts), and one in Northern Praying Mantis (12 parts).
All the kicks were actually lower, to the groin area.
yes when you tense you restrict your power. Your chi will get locked at your shoulder and your strength is only muscles. If you relax you force flows effortlessly and the force goes deep. With muscle power the force stops at the surface.
you r doing well, just that you r going too fast. TanTui r foundation set. slow down a little bit. focus on your stances. You must know the different btwn rushing n fast. In this instances, you r rushing to finish the set.
Yes, there's a difference. But I would suggest that first you must relax for your body to be open to the power of Tan, to the springing. So now relax; worry about power next year.
When you transition from a front stance to a horse stance, you should put your forward foot down before turning into the horse. Your are often turning into the horse before your leading foot even touches the ground. This can be very bad for your knees and groin muscles. Set the heel of your leading foot down and use it to pivot into the horse stance, rather than using the back leg. This way you will get full body power out of it.
I would practice it slowly, and as relaxed as possible. You need to do it this way for awhile before you can really put power into it. You are way too tense - using too much muscle.
Your kicks will improve a lot if you do it this way...focus on your intention - where you're kicking.
Depends on how it's taught. I have seen this low kick version before. Also for example, the first time I was taught the form, we held each posture for a count of five, making the form 20 minutes to complete. Of course, once the training is done, then it is easy to relax and do the form normal speed with appropriate power.
Just a different flavor, as we see here. The guy has some decent execution, but the stances get funky at some points.
This is 精武潭腿.

nicely done
however i think its a bit rushed
slow down a tad concentrate on technique
and yes i think stances a bit to high
also wen swinging the arms relax the shoulders
u will find it easier
happy training

stances are WAY WAY WAY WAY too high. Make your moves clearer. This is chin woo tantui right? I've learnt it. Isn't it supposed to be slower paced?

可以試著把動作順著走一點
二路的腿有辦法做到踢完瞬間定在最末端嗎?
可以朝這兩個方向看看
其他都蠻強的

Kick is a heel kick, not this. Power issues from the ground as you stand on one leg. This is also too fast.

hi..do you have sample? how to do the heel kick?

It's been my favorite form.

Nothing in the world is as soft and yielding as water,
Yet nothing can better overcome the hard and strong.
The soft overcomes the hard,
The yielding overcomes the strong;
Every person knows this,
Yet few practice it.

follow the 3 golden rules: 1. relax, 2. relax, 3. relax.

good...but how to relax? is it any diffenence between the relax and the no power?

interesting video. you seem too tense in shoulder, also kick very very low. you let body be too "square" when punching....power is good though.
ZhangLiMei 4 years ago
you really look like your tensing your muscles too much which restricts your force and can cause harmful side effects.

You aren't bobbing up and down as you move from stance to stance, so that is good. Most tan tui on the net is very uneven. Peace bro.

thx. When we are training in a group, have to follow the command by number. But if you always train like this way you wouldn't improve your speed.
tantui 4 years ago
shouldn´t the kicks go directly in the height of your waist? when there is movement, everything moves. when you stop, everything stops.
