My son was diagnosed with diabetes at age 2 and he is now 8. He was also diagnosed with Celiac 2 years ago. I tell my son that God has a special plan for him and there is a reason for him having diabetes and Celiac. And that seems to make it ok. We just take each day as it comes. It has made him strong. It has changed our whole family! Nothing stops us! Stay strong :)
***I wear a paradigm pump and cut a small hole in the top, inside of both pockets of all the pants I wear. I make it big enough so the round part of the infusion set can fit through. So, I put the pump in my pocket and pull the round tubing part through the hole and attach it to my stomach. The extra just sits in my pocket or hangs inside of my pants. No one ever sees the pump or the tubing. And, no one has ever commented on the holes.***
I have lived with Diabetes for over 20 years. I have put some videos up on youtube with Tips and Tricks to make the Burden of Diabetes easier to manage.
Dr Neal Bernard (a founder and president of the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine) states that: "A low fat vegan diet is very likely the most powerful diet ever devised for people with diabetes...We believe that this diet should be the first treatment that is contemplated by anyone who has got this disease." Please listen to an interview with him on our page. Hope this helps.
I have a beautiful 15 yr old daughter living with juvenile Diabetes. I am amazed at the strength and maturity that these children have at such a young age. My daughter understands that insulin is her LIFE SUPPORT. We know of several children who have slipped away due to complications of their diabetes. This is unacceptable. I have to disagree with keevs4u. Diabetes does NOT rock. A cure would rock. To all with Juevile Diabetes, take care of yourself and never lose hope.
I'm 18 years old and I, myself, have type 1 diabetes. I just wanted to thank you for your comment. The last sentence made me want to cry. My prayers go with your daughter. And again, thank you, mahalo nui loa, for your comment. =)

Certainly not. Diabetes Type 1 is an autoimmune disease and has nothing to do with food. You can't prevent it. Both Types are often genetic determinated. It is true that you can prevent Type 2 Diabetes, but not in every case. Type 1 is not avoidable.
Man sagt "psychische/neurologische Störungen".
I got type 1 diabetes at the age of 6 and I hate it when people tell me "that's what happens when you eat so much candy and fries". They don't understand that I didn't cause the disease myself. Now I'm 19 and my diabetes is 99% under control and I don't really have to work hard to keep it under control. It also isn't a burden or anything, just keeps my lifestyle a bit cleaner even though I like to drink alcohol now and then.
I got diabeted when i was 13 and im 17 now, anyone honestly thinking his life is over cause of it is retarted to the bone, it's no big deal really, but i quess that depends on do you get cause you're fat or is it in your blood, thing, whatever, my grandfather had it, my dad didnt, now me and my cousin got it :p
novo nordisk is a pharmaceutical company, could it be that they use this video as an advertisement?
and y do these much people get diabetes? besause they eat too much sugar.. of course one type is genetically passed, but if you dont drink too much coke and eat some fresh food, the danger is not that big. and if you get it though, its not that bad. one of my friend has it and he can drink alcohol without problems. he has a normal life like u and me
I have Type II diabetes, diagnosed 4 years ago when I went for my annual physical. When I found out I had it,I made a decision that I was going to do whatever had to be done to get it under control & keep it under control. I'm on medication,I went to a nutrition class for diabetics, began monitoring my blood sugar & exercised regularly (brisk walking 4-5 times/week). I've lost 20 lbs & kept it off. It's not easy, but I want to live long enough to become a grandfather, so I do it.
Iv got diabetes, but to be honest it doesnt stop me from living the life i want to! You only have one life and so i say "love the life you live and live the life you love" and dont let anything change it!
Sure its a setback but, there are many people worldwide who deal with these problems such as diabetes, cancer, lukemia etc everyday.
Friend of mine collapsed during airplane flight. They found out he has diabetes, he is just 20 years old and he feels like his life is over. Nice movie anyway download it at ytgrabber
brotha, u should be thankfull to God, all things that happen in life is destiny! So if u want it or not it's predetermined, and u can be sad and angry about it alla ur life or u take it as it is and live in peace with it!I'm diabetic too, Type I since 1992, and since I live in Islam, I know it's god for me Insha'Allah! Peace!
People are often talking unknowing about things although they know that they are unknowing! What a weak soul that must be?!! instead they klick a few times at their mous button and get knowledege about it, they rather write first sensless comments and still don't know anything about it! may Allah guide us all to the straight path, amin!!!
so sad, my best friend is a diabetiker, or my former best friend.. he left me because i told him not to drink alchoholic its to dangerus.. he dosent listen, :(
I think it's the verve - bitter sweet symphony. Now that I mention it...bitter sweet? Kind of an ironic title, if not a little insulting as a pun. Me thinks I think too much lol
Kunsthammer, i despise you, ive had diabetes for over 2 years now and im finding it hard, when i read your comment i just felt like sh *t, why would you even go and post something like that? im 15 years old and the last f* cking thing i need is a stupid tw *t like you to make me feel crap
FANTASTIC VIDEO! My sister has struggled with diabetes her entire life. I am always floored when I have to explain to someone what it is and why she needs insulin! This is not a new disease! She has had a hard way to go with trying to find someone to treat her, and with keeping up with the cost of her medical supplies. It's sickening! We truely need more awareness!!
Kunsthammer , i hope you die from internal bleeding you stupid fuck, ive got diabeties and when i read your comment i just felt like shit, whats your problem? you made me feel really bad and its people like you in this world that makes the world un-perfect.
I have diabetes myself, the biggest problem if you sk me is that p[eople say that you can easely live with it. True you can but I cost enormous effort in order to do everything right and that is just one of the things that makes it difficult to deal with it. I hope that video's like this makes people realises that it is a worldwide rpoblem and that something should be done about it.
I am a type-I, and it is truly ridiculous how overlooked this disease is. I struggle/fight every second, minute, hour of my life, but I look "normal" on the outside. I have been fired from jobs for being sick, despite well above average performance etc. Yet, we don't have universal healthcare in the US? On a good note, I played D1 college soccer and am a fitness model, but I still struggle everyday. Great video!!!
A South Korean exchange student at Mount St. Joseph Academy in Rutland is facing a long list of child sex charges.
19-year-old Hanse Park is charged with two counts of aggravated sex assault against a victim younger than 10, and one count of lewd and lascivious conduct. One of the victims told police they had been molested more than 20 times.
Hanse is being held without bail. Park faces life in prison if convicted.
I'm also a diabetic and use a pump. I think that diabetes isn't discussed enough in the media and so I think it's great that this video is being shown in YouTube!
dumbass climate change is happening whether you believe or not. Diabetes and hunger are completely different problems affecting the parasites of this earth.
ummmm...it's all very well to tell people to change diabetes but...how the hell do you propose we do that and what the hell is it you want to change about it? ?!?!
I don't see how aids being a bigger problem should stop us from paying attention to diabetes.
It's like if you had an accident an one of your leg broke and you lost the other one, and you said you didn't want cast on your broken leg cuz the other one got amputated.
Everyone is SO ignorant. You don't have to be fat or unhealthy to get Diabetes. Yes there are worse problems in the world, but show your support for this.
this is bullshit every less then 10 seconds some kid dies in AFRICA of poverty IF WE DIE FROM EATING TO MUCH SHIT WELL WHAT THE FUCK BUT IF 2-3 YEAR OLDS HAVE to DIE FROM NO FOOD IS THAT FUCKN FAIR !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I understand that you feel sorry for african kids, but that is no reason to say this is bullshit! both problems are serious, and one being more seriuos than the other doesn't make the other "bullshit"
omg this is a stupid movie, i mean c'mon there are worse things than diabetes like aids, but that doesn't affect the majority of the western world, so we don't give a crap, ofcourse it is a terrible if you get it, i don't wish it to anyone, but the 10 sec thing is wrong. I mean every second 3 people die of aids, whom from which is 1 a child.
big scam. Guy in Mexico stopped Diabetes in its tracks with young people, and its being supressed / ridiculed by the pigs who're afraid of losing their funding.
Back in July of '07, I had a diabetic attack. My bloodsugar spiked to 960 over a few days. To give you an idea of my activity, I was an enlisted military member working out at least 3 times a week for a least an hour each time...Diabetes can strike. (fyi, I'm type one, and though genetic, still sucks)
Actually, you would die if your bloodsugar dropped. If your bloodsugar goes to high, you would go into a coma. Learn your facts before you decide to be a douche.
I think id rather be a diabetic than loose my legs in the war or something. Most people get it and take no change in there diet or anything. And them some are given it at a young age, the word is full of fright and terror..... and AIDS
To assist and/or combat any degenerative disorder you must change your behavior and lifestyle habits. Eat 80% Raw Fruits, nuts, wholefoods and Veggies, take a good Digetive Enzyme, Vitamins, & Minerals. Oxygenate your body to assist with overall wellness, and exercise daily with plenty of water intake. Promote cleansing your colon to remove excess waste and toxins. Now you are on your way and making a start with your Health!!
Only 80% of type 2 diabetes is caused by metabolic syndroms such as overweight. Its true however that overweight, lack of exercise and fat meals are a safe way to get Diabetes (II).
Dumb jerk off trying to cause a division between type 1 and type 2 I hope you die slow and painful racist Republican ape.
You know the circumstances people get in, the pressures they come under to get to type 2 diabetes you think I or anyone else what this disease , but of course with your nigger comment on my page we see what pile of subhuman filth you really are scumscuking dog, and yeah I am one you cheap low life quarter dollar whore
2. a lot of people, wait, the most, are getting diabetes for being fat. it's like lung cancer and smokers. is there a campaign out the for smokers with lung cancer with emotional piano music and faces of people? i don't think so.
I have been diabetic for 20 years and was not overweight and lead a relatively healthy lifestyle.
I do agree that many older people who do not excercise and have lead unhealthy lifestyles are bringing Type II on themselves, but I know plenty of Diabetics who were just plain unlucky to get it.
On the other hand, it might help if the government didn't allow such crap to be sold as food and weren't so much in bed with the pharmaceutical industry....
that's my whole point. i know there are 2 types of diabetes, even my mother has type 2. but it's the same with lung cancer. some people get it with a healthy lifestyle, a lot of because of smoking. but everything u see in the media is just how horrible this desease is.
diabetes, first of all type 2, is a civilisation desease. we got in our societies a lot of intolerance against smokers, but without intolerance against other unhealthy lifestyles.
I see your point, but it is a shame for the masses of type 1 diabetics that we get put in the same category as people who didn't look after themselves for 50 years.
I also hate mushy videos about stuff but I am very pleased that I can live with my disease and if it needs a bit of public attention occasionaly, so be it.
I've had Type 1 for 35 years. I'm still heathy and active with no problems caused from my diabetes. You always hear about leg amputations..kidneys..going blind. Well these situations are brought on by those that didn't take care of their diabetes.
Yes it's a horrible disease for those with Type 1. I really don't feel sorry for "most" Type 2 diabetics. They brought it on themselves in most cases. Eat less and stay active Type twoers.
hey! good video Richard! Not sure how to vote for it, cuz I don't understand German, but good job! The faces changing is pretty cool. Kinda funny when it's between two people! Anyway keep it up!
Stop eating Polysaturated fats as they are clogging your Pancreas and liver. Preventing the hormone leptin from being sent to the brain to repair your body.

LithiumLushaddict 4 years ago
fuckgarbot 4 years ago
Man sagt "psychische/neurologische Störungen".
LithiumLushaddict 4 years ago

I got type 1 diabetes at the age of 6 and I hate it when people tell me "that's what happens when you eat so much candy and fries". They don't understand that I didn't cause the disease myself. Now I'm 19 and my diabetes is 99% under control and I don't really have to work hard to keep it under control. It also isn't a burden or anything, just keeps my lifestyle a bit cleaner even though I like to drink alcohol now and then.

novo nordisk is a pharmaceutical company, could it be that they use this video as an advertisement?
and y do these much people get diabetes? besause they eat too much sugar.. of course one type is genetically passed, but if you dont drink too much coke and eat some fresh food, the danger is not that big. and if you get it though, its not that bad. one of my friend has it and he can drink alcohol without problems. he has a normal life like u and me

Just remember there are basically TWO types of Diabetes.
TYPE 1>>>>>Nothing these people did CAUSED the diabetes. They usually get diabetes 13 years old or younger. They take SHOTS..and can NEVER be cured.
Type 2>>>Older FAT OVERWEIGHT people. If they lose the weight they can lose the diabetes. They take PILLS and watch their diet to control this.
Type 1 sucks
Type 2 is avoidable
Spectres 4 years ago
never say never
M00time 4 years ago
Only 80% of type 2 diabetes is caused by metabolic syndroms such as overweight. Its true however that overweight, lack of exercise and fat meals are a safe way to get Diabetes (II).

I sure wish they'd put more of the money into finding a cure for Type 1.
There already IS a cure for Type 2....it's called exercising and watching your weight.
I just get irritated when Diabetes (type 1 and 2), are clumped together...like they're the same thing.

1. unite FOR or AGAINST diabetes?
2. a lot of people, wait, the most, are getting diabetes for being fat. it's like lung cancer and smokers. is there a campaign out the for smokers with lung cancer with emotional piano music and faces of people? i don't think so.
tobotron 4 years ago
Educate yourself..
On the other hand, it might help if the government didn't allow such crap to be sold as food and weren't so much in bed with the pharmaceutical industry....
buchla300 4 years ago
that's my whole point. i know there are 2 types of diabetes, even my mother has type 2. but it's the same with lung cancer. some people get it with a healthy lifestyle, a lot of because of smoking. but everything u see in the media is just how horrible this desease is.
diabetes, first of all type 2, is a civilisation desease. we got in our societies a lot of intolerance against smokers, but without intolerance against other unhealthy lifestyles.
so: emotional videos for every desease? ;-)
tobotron 4 years ago
I see your point, but it is a shame for the masses of type 1 diabetics that we get put in the same category as people who didn't look after themselves for 50 years.
I also hate mushy videos about stuff but I am very pleased that I can live with my disease and if it needs a bit of public attention occasionaly, so be it.
buchla300 4 years ago
I've had Type 1 for 35 years. I'm still heathy and active with no problems caused from my diabetes. You always hear about leg amputations..kidneys..going blind. Well these situations are brought on by those that didn't take care of their diabetes.
Yes it's a horrible disease for those with Type 1. I really don't feel sorry for "most" Type 2 diabetics. They brought it on themselves in most cases. Eat less and stay active Type twoers.
