Got caught in the snow storm, I stopped over and took release quite a lot of air from my tyres, probably about half, had a lot more grip and managed to get home OK... only to drop the bike outside the house as I slipped and dropped it:) Droped it 4 more times... during the snow. Thank God my bike is an XJ with engine bars.
Stop calling this guy a jackass, it's his choice, I did the exact same the other day because I wanted to test myself lol leave him to it, he won't go out twice ;) well I won't in the snow
Ive got a ducati 748 , and she only comes out when its warm ! fancy doing that to a duke , plonker , grands worth of damage for nothing the fool , get a £500 jap for winter as i do every year ! my 748 is as new still ! and its a 1997 model ....
@touge2000 Mate I remember clearly that day, in the morning it was a normal winter day, in the afternoon it starting snowing like crazy... no one expected that snow. A lot of bikes were caught out... I was one of them but first instinct was to release air from my tires to get more grip, it worked, I was going faster than the cars, made it home 20 miles away in one piece.
Its a £15,000 bike - add insurance and maintenance costs and its twice the price of a small car. There are many reason why bikes are better than cars for 99.9% of the time, this was the 0.1% when a car would have been better.
I checked the damage on the bike - there was very little - just some slightly scuffed paint work. It was, however, damaged on both sides so this was possibly his second crash of the day.
Give the guy a break ; when is the last time they had snow in London England ? He obviously hasn't a clue ( Blonde ) Look a the yanks in the south when they have a snow ...demo derby !! Not a clue ...still drive like maniacs .
Thats right he can do what the hell he wants, and if that means a half hour ride on a sunday then good for him......what exactly is your point?? Some people!
... Why would you even ride when it's snowing. The tires will be colder than dick.

What a waste of a bike!
Gixxer600 2 years ago 2
@Gixxer600
It would be a waste of a bike if he left it in his garage for 8 months of the year.
This is the complete opposite to a waste of a bike.
MrMarlb0r0 2 years ago 2
Only dumb if he bought the bike for tart value, rather than for the riding. Doubt the drop made it any less good a ride.
I rode my tuned zx9 throughout the snowy bit - much better than sitting in the endless traffic jams that developed initially.

I ride all year round, but when the snow was here a few weeks back I took the (slow, overcrowded, expensive, boring) train.

What possessed him to ride a 1098S in the snow!? You never even see people riding Ducatis in the rain never mind the snow!
touge2000 2 years ago 10
Actually, some of us Ducati riders do occasionally get caught in surprise rain storms. It sucks when it happens.

what would those 99.9 percent of the time possibly be? Ya cant haul anything, have less traction, suffer to the elements.
I like riding, but lets be realistic about this.

Like to see you put 3000klm on an 848 in 3 months in Thailand, some of that in Bangkok traffic like I have.

I second that. I ride in Bangkok traffic daily, however we don't get any snow here. It does piss down rain at times though.
