  • Just took three seconds for the narrator to mispronounce "BOWIE"

    Well done sir!!!

  • it's hard to watch bowie in this video cuz of how coked out he was in this period

  • Bowie and Lennon, pure British CLASS...

  • John's impression is spot on!

  • How fucking awesome is bowie foot-stomping dance (with eyes in the roof of his head) just when they say "ALL OF THE TIIMME!"

    ROFL.

    Such a legend.

  • Best impression of Bowie by John!

  • i just noticed that david bowie kinda looks like linda

  • Two of the best ever. He does forget though that Lennon went recluse in 75 to become a house husband, to look after Sean, so he wouldn't be doing much musically anyway. I think these reviewers should always add - 'Mind you, having said all that, it's infinitely better than anything I could ever do, that's why I'm talking about it and not creating it'. ;)

  • What the fuck is that foot stomping shit???

  • @HardRokMiner Food stamping.

  • @HardRokMiner Coked-up appearance on the Dick Cavett Show.

  • That idiot at the end should say "in my opinion" not state his opinion as though it is categorical fact. Everyone of us on this planet is entitled to our own opinion especially when it boils down to taste, That guy can have his opinion, it's just that many don't share it.

  • @macuaid He says "which may be why" they didn't collaborate again. It IS an opinion, and is stated as such. If he had said "which is why" then I would agree with you that he is stating his opinion as categorical fact.

  • @friendlier I have to say I disagree. He refers to Across the universe as "not terribly exciting" as though it were fact and again when he says " as these things often are, rather less than the sum of their parts". He says "I think when you look again" which to my ears reads as though he is saying "you need to listen to it again because it isn't all that good" IE "I" think that "you" need to do something, but otherwise his statement is a fact. That is my interpretationn.

  • @benluttrell...

i don't think you're quite right there. doesn't have to have chords to be a riff. the two terms are fairly interchangeable, but i'd say a riff refers to the main foundation of a song. a lick is part of a solo.

for example, black dog by led zeppelin is based around an iconic guitar riff. also, jimmy page plays some mean, mean licks.

    that's my 2 cents anyway.

  • @ChameleonsUKfan2012 A lick is a single-note melody, a riff uses chords.

  • When you look through the bands and singers that England has produced, it's pretty impressive. A tiny country in the middle of nowhere - and look who it's given the world of music.

  • @Eldomina22 You've just noticed this...

  • That was cool, and despite the 2nd "talking head" who is an ignorable idiot.

  • the bass line on fame is also used on James brown's Hot as it was guitarist Carlos Alomar pened the bass on both songs

  • @JazzFunkSouldier Bass line?? try guitar, drums etc ! but which came first ?

  • @jsilence418 well some say Bowie but my understanding is it was Brown

  • Two music gods... I already worshipped Bowie, now what? I´ll just worship him more often!! LOL

  • WOW this is huge news to me. They worked on across the universe together, then built fame. 2 amazing songs

  • i think bowie's version of 'across the universe' is excellent, funny how people in this video criticize legends when their 'mr nobody'...twats

  • AT 41 DAVID BOWIE LOOKED LIKE THE RIDDELER WHEN JIM CARRY DID IT

  • what the fuck is that dorky little douchebag at the end trying to say??

  • @1954telecaster I think what he is trying to say is, "Hi, I'm nobody you would ever fukin listen to or remember, so I'm going to try and say something so completely ignorant that someone might notice me" and he did

  • @1954telecaster It's clear to me. The relationship produced nothing of any worth, so it ended. too right too. Bowie's version of Across the Universe is an amateurish abomination.

  • @CrankCase08 -they weren't trying to produce anything! they were just jamming together one day and stumbled upon a funky groove, scribbled down some lyrics, and it turned out to be a hit! who knows what they could've accomplished if they actually tried...

  • @1954telecaster - just because two or more very talented people collaborate doesn't mean it's going to be incredible. it's not too difficult to understand that.

  • @1954telecaster He's not a douche. In fact, I think that's Steve Albini. Try to look again fuck off. Just for criticizing Albini. If it is him. If not, you win.

  • @RockNEHouseNHipHop -that is definitely NOT steve albini, it's just some snobby critic

  • @1954telecaster Well then never mind then. Just as long as its not Albini. He's not an absolute snob about it, but I strongly disagree. "Fame" may not be "Young Americans", but its still amazing! Bowie is a genius and Albini would've recognized that as a Bowie Genius Moment!

  • @1954telecaster He's obviously a dozy prick.

  • @1954telecaster probably that he's never heard of hairspray or contact lenses, lol.

  • @1954telecaster That Bowie's cover of Across The Universe was worse than you'd expect given that he was the best musician on the planet at the time, and he had John Lennon helping him? Additionally, Fame (and the rest of Young Americans) wasn't that great compared to Bowie's work immediately before and afterwards, or Lennon's next album.

  • @1954telecaster Ha! What a twit, right?

  • @1954telecaster As much as I don't agree with him, Bowie himself has said that Fame is far from his favourite track on Young Americans.

  • @1954telecaster I think he's talkin smack. I might have to go rough him up.

  • I love Bowie but I bloody well HATE Lennon

  • piss off then you dick

  • @Thenewzboyof2000 sod off you bloody idiot!

  • My two biggest idols...neither of them will EVER leave my heart <3 :')

  • @xXOneHotLennonXx It's pretty clear: "Bowie has, at different points throughout his career, collaborated and worked with or bounced off various often quite titanic figures, whether they're Lou Reed or Iggy Pop or John Lennon. Sometimes that's resulted in absolutely marvelous and extraordinary things, and sometimes it hasn't. Which may be why neither of them (Bowie and Lennon) pursued this creative relationship terribly much further."

  • @friendlier wrong person... :L

  • bowie n lennon rock

  • Thought the song was alright but whenever I see a "Sir Lennon" video my last words are .. We remember you john ....

  • Let's see you do better.

  • I love Bowie but the cover blows

  • @spaceorbison John Lennon said the cover is what he wish he had done himself the first time, he said he liked it more than the original.

  • (*J*)

  • this dude commenting on their musical relationship is kind of an asshole

  • @emasame He was just saying it straight up, like a critic should. He was right, that cover blows.

  • @Zimnyification i think your taste in music blows. i bet youve never even listened to young americans.

  • @Zimnyification The cover was alright not horrid but not great its a bit of an exageration to say it blows.

  • So sad that john was shoot 1980 :*(

  • John, I'm only dancing...

  • @2dogarage Bloody hell, how thick am I? Was that really sang to Lennon, because I never got that connection!!

  • @Katmarie100 What else could it be? I saw a photo of Yoko rockin the dance floor at some club in NYC for her 70th birthday and she still looked hot...

  • @2dogarage Thanks for the info!

  • HISTORY!

  • Far out....look at all the beautiful people.
