  • @Traxx011 Good question. I think micro-tears in the muscle from stretching, may be different from the micro tears you get from lifting (maybe they form in the wrong places). But then again, maybe not and maybe they do help you build bigger muscles. But bouncing could also cause tears in the ligaments, tendons, joints... and that would be seriously bad, so maybe that's what they mean.

  • I've heard the opposite, that streching afterwards doesn't help you anything, but stretching before is good, to soften up the muscles and get the blood flow going. Makes more sense to stretch before the workout to me.

  • track community about dynamic warm-ups vs. old-traditional warmups(4 laps,static stretch)Do you think one of these warmups are more effective than the other? Or does it vary with what your doing. Cus I know Usain Bolt does dynamic without jogging or stretching before a workout.USC Trojans also do like 45 mins of dynamic before practice.... sorry for the long comments.lol

  • Thanks Scott. Your videos are always so helpful. When I was in the Army I use to stretch all the time but nowadays, I get to the gym and want to get to work right away. I really need to start doing this routine again.

  • Sorry this comment is unrelated. I have been using the elliptical for two weeks because i can use it longer and keep my heart rate at a good pace. However my hips are extremelly sore all day and night. Is this normal? I don't know who to ask...

  • @marsella49, It's inspiration for others to get in shape. I'm straight, but I prefer seeing the physique because it inspires me to build my muscle even more! Pretty boring if they're all wearing trak suits

  • If you think he has fat between his shoulder blades you know nothing about male anatomy. Men in his shape, IF they have fat, will be stored on hips (precursor to love handle), lower abdominal area, and a little on the lower gluts. Scott is pure muscle, and that's what you're seeing between his shoulders. Anyone who has a well-developed back musculature will look like that.

  • I learned the importance of stretching from gymnastics. I always feel energized after i stretch If thats weird I dont know.. lol

  • I think gymnasts are the go-to athlete to learn stretching tips. You got any tips to learning to do the splits? As a male, I didn't think it was possible until actually paying attention during the Olympics that they are actually doing the splits... I'm pretty flexible (can put my feet behind my head, but more a piriformis stretch), but I have never been good at toe-touching and split-looking movements...My question to you is: how did YOU get there? Little bits of pain/tearing over time?

  • there were some good stretches in the video but studies have shown that active stretching should occur before a workout and static stretching should be after a workout. scott, you being a muscular guy, a good part of being physically fit is being flexible.

  • he has a meal plan calulator on his website its gr8. Anyone can make a meal plan that really helps with overall nutrition as well as cals. etc... iam a spokesman now :)
