Yes, this loco certainly did come with the sound pre-installed by Bachmann. However, you can also fit sound to most modern locos now and many of the older ones too.

Hi Starwarslegobuilder, the Class 55 is made by Bachmann and, although this particular model is no longer available, Bachmann do still produce other Deltic models, in both blue and green liveries.

No all digital decoders, including sound decoders, should work with the various dcc controllers, including Hornby and Bachmann.

Please forgive the delay in replying ay76 but SWD charged me £39 to fit the speaker in the fuel tank and that included the cost of the speaker and return postage. It took them about 2 weeks and they did do a good job and it does sound much better as a result.
